La Sierra High School’s Business Academy: La Sierra’s Business Academy class attended the 13th Annual California Virtual Enterprise Trade Fair in Bakersfield November 29th through December 1st. Jessica Duong, teacher, provided pictures of the event and stated that this was an exciting learning experience for the class and the students gave dynamic, interactive presentations. Video Commercial: Honorable Mention Professional Booth Design: 4th Place Impact Marketing: 4th Place The Apprentice: 2nd Place Salesmanship: 2nd Place

Twinhill Elementary School – Project Night Night: As a part of the No Excuses University, Twinhill participated in a network-wide charity event to support Project Night Night. Project Night Night creates totes which include a stuffed animal, book and blanket for children who come to homeless shelters. As a result of participating in the network-wide charity, Twinhill was able to donate $350.00 to the Project Nigh Night charity.

Fun Fact: Alvord received a Certificate of Environmental Accomplishment for participating in the Shred-it Shredding and Recycling Program. The District saved the equivalent of 43 trees from destruction in 2011! The conversion from trees to pounds is 1 tree equals 200 pounds of paper, so the District shred 8,600 pounds of paper!
