GRIET ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT 2019-20

GRIET, since is established in year 1997, has been striving to achieve and impart quality

education with an emphasis on practical skills and social relevance. Over the years many young men

and women graduate through the portals of GRIET to be change masters in society. The alumni of

GRIET are now spread across the world, contributing to the society as Engineers, Teachers, Scientists

and Entrepreneurs. They are the brand ambassadors of our college. GRIET Alumni Association, a

registered society, acts as a vital link between them and the institution.

The Alumni is making GRIET proud with their hard work bringing laurels at national and

international levels. It is heartening to see GRIET alumni at the helm of several organizations globally.

GRIET alumni contribution can be in the following manner:

• Discuss with current students: Firsthand experiences in the challenging real life is always

welcomed by graduating engineers and they will be keener to learn from their pass-out seniors and

these exchanges are always fruitful. This is conduct under the heading Parampara. On an average

12-15 students will come to GRIET for exchanging their views with current students.

• Guest lectures/Workshops: Technology is always changing. Industry is always eager to encash the

fruits of latest technology. Academic syllabus always endeavors to catchup with changes in

technology. Institutes try hard to fulfill the gap through value added programs in the form of guest

lectures. Alumni is ideal source for this as they understand both society and the college culture.

• Financial support through alumni contribution: Alumni of GRIET is financially contributing to

college. At present by 30 June 2019 they contributed Rs 15,00,000/ lacks.

• Labs by Alumni: Many a time the alumni can specify the usage of their financial contribution in

terms of lab assets or other infra items. For example, donation from Mr. Aditya Jayam of EEE

branch created the B-H curve for single phase transformer experimental setup in the Electrical

machines’ lab.

• BOS members: GRIET alumni are part of Board of Studies (BOS) members and Internal Quality

and Audit Control (IQAC) as Coopted members.

• Jobs by Alumni/Referrals for jobs: Alumni are helping their juniors by providing Information

about job openings in the current markets and many a time alumnus themselves are part of the

placement finalize groups. And some are established entrepreneurs offer jobs.

• Internship by Alumni: Some of the alumni are providing internships assistance for the students in

their ventures.

• Alumni Feedback: Alumni feedback are of the key inputs to strengthen the teaching and

learning environment at the institute.

The Institution and the Alumni Association has established the Distinguished Alumnus Award

program in 2018 to honor outstanding former students and to celebrate their achievements in the areas of

Academic Excellence, Technology Innovation Excellence, Managerial Excellence, Entrepreneurial

Excellence, Excellence in other Walks of Life.

Alumni meets are a regular feature. GRIET acknowledges the alumni contributions to the

college in terms of establishing alumni awards to the students in academic excellence, which are given

away during college days like Annual Day or Graduation Day and contributions in the form of guest

lectures, referrals through strong networking.

ALUMNI MEET 2019-20

The Alumni meet was conducted on 21st December 2019 in Hall 1 at GRIET

Campus near Main Gate adjacent to Oriental Bank of Commerce.

The event was well managed with the help of Alumni Coordinators of all branches.

Alumnus of various batches since 2001 of all branches around 564 were registered

319 were participated in the event.

All the alumni were actively involved and expressed their views about college

and their current holdings in various companies.

The whole experience was enriched with the presence of Dr. Jandhyala. N. Murthy,

Director, Dr Praveen Jugge, Principal, Dr K V S N Raju Senior Admin Officer, Dr

N V Ganapathi Raju Associate Dean, Alumni Affairs, Dr K Prasanna Laxmi

Convener of the event, Mr P Gopala Krishna Associate Professor and coordinator and

their valuable speeches. Prof P S Raju Former Director and Principal of GRIET as a

Chief Guest. The whole activity was managed by Dept of IT department.

GRIET honored Mr Siddharth, Co-Founder, Syntizen, Hyderabad as Best Alumni

Award for the year 2019-20. Also honored Akhil Regonda for his continuous support

for GRIET website.

After post lunch, the alumnus visited their respective departments and interacted with

the students. They enlightened the students with the current technologies and the

different jobs available in their respective core sector. Music band of GRIET students

performed before Alumni for entertaining them.

All alumnus was requested to fill the Alumnus Survey form and feedback form to give

their valuable feedback for the improvement of various academic activities of the

institute.

All the Alumni students got gift hampers from GRIET as a token of appreciation.
