REFLECTION
Dear Lord,
how we’ve waited
for this holiday, and now it’s
finally here. Thank You, Lord,
for the opportunity to take a
break from our daily routines and to replenish our
minds, bodies and souls so they we may better serve
You. Sometimes our expectations for holidays are
unrealistic, and we find ourselves disappointed
when things don’t go our way. Help us not to
worry about having the ‘perfect’ vacation but to
relax and enjoy every moment, whatever it may
bring. We are grateful for the joys that await us-
whether they be the beauty of your creation,
relaxation with family or friends, or peace and
solitude. Watch over us and protect us as we travel,
and bring us safely home again-refreshed and
renewed.
Amen.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Welcome to Week 10. This week is the final week of Term 1. I would like to thank all of the children for a great term and I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break. Thank you to our wonderful parents who continue to show great support for our school and a huge thank you to our wonderful staff. Thanks for your hard work, dedication and commitment to our students. I would like to wish you all a happy, holy and safe Easter break. Phil will be back after the Easter break and I am certain he will have many stories to share. Thank you for your support over the past three weeks. Though I have enjoyed my time in the ‘hot seat’ I must say that I cannot wait to catch up with the Senior N class after the break. I have missed their enthusiasm and commitment. Enjoy your Easter holidays !!!
Virtue of the Week - Self-Discipline Self-Discipline means self-control. It is getting yourself to do what you really want to do, rather than being tossed around feeling like a leaf in the wind. You don’t lose control of yourself when you feel hurt or angry, but
decide how you are going to talk and what you are going to do. With self-discipline, you take charge of yourself. Swimming Carnival - A community building activity! Congratulations to Frawley Blue House on their victory at the swimming carnival yesterday. The day was held in splendid weather conditions with a friendly competitive spirit evident among the children. The parent support was excellent and we value our partnership with you where we work together to instill values in the children that will help them to become healthy, responsible adults. Thanks to Cathy Rebelo and staff who organised a great carnival for the children. Well done!

Street out the front of the Anglican Church at 10:30am in full school uniform. Go Blue for Autism On Friday, our school is supporting Autism Queensland by donating a gold coin in order to ‘Go Blue’ (wear blue) so as to help raise awareness and funds to help support Queenslanders of all ages living with ASD and their families. What is Autism? When someone has autism spectrum (ASD), it means that their brains are wired differently to other people. However the symptoms of ASD vary enormously from person to person. People with ASD find it difficult to interact socially and communicate with others. As they often have difficulty understanding what other people are feeling and what interests others, they might say the wrong thing. They might talk for a long time about a topic they really like, as they are unaware that the topic is of no interest to others. They may not use gestures and body language, in the way that other people do. For example they may not use eye contact and may not smile. However, their ability to communicate can vary tremendously, with some people with Autism having no or limited speech, and others having extensive vocabularies. Although people with ASD can find it difficult to talk to people and make friends, they still have the same emotions as anybody else and love to have friends, even if it’s hard. People with ASD also like things to happen the same way. They might take the same route to school or the shops, or line up their toys in a particular order. If something is out of place or if routines change without warning, they can get upset or worried. They may also be bothered by sudden loud sounds, bright lights or unexpected touches that do not bother others. They may become upset if someone hugs them or talks too quickly or loudly. They often have intense interests in particular topics and may be extremely knowledgeable about their special interest areas. They can also have an amazing memory for detail. Every person with Autism is different to another and has their own way of seeing the world, which makes them interesting and unique. ASD now affects approximately one in every 100 children. Research shows ASD now affects more people than cerebral palsy, diabetes, deafness, blindness and leukaemia put together. Cowboys Corner Come back Mr Manitta!!! The Cowboys are playing like shot ducks without your one-eyed, fanatical support. The Broncos on the other hand are playing with pride, commitment and determination. Let’s see if the Cowboys can start to turn their season around with a
win against the Knights this weekend. Mr Manitta will be back in town and his barracking might just be what they need to help them get over the line. The Broncos should have Suncorp Stadium rocking on Friday night when they take on Parramatta. P & F
Reminder: P & F AGM will be in the school hall on Friday, April 4 at 9:00 am.
All Saints’ is a vibrant and caring community and the P&F comes together to embrace new and current families, support current students and promote and celebrate our school achievements and goals. Please help us unite as parents and friends by coming and supporting your P&F on Friday.

APRE REPORT
Assembly Year 5 will lead us in an Easter liturgy / assembly in the
school hall on Thursday at 9:30am. Parents and friends
are most welcome to share this end of term celebration
with us.
Lent We are currently in the fourth week of Lent. Holy Week
begins in 2 weeks time. It is the most significant week in
Christianity and as such, I urge you to join in any or all
of the services offered by our local churches. Holy Week
begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Holy Saturday. The
final three days are part of the Paschal Triduum.
Palm Sunday (13 April):
On the sixth Sunday of Lent we commemorate Jesus'
triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Worship services
include blessing of the palms and a procession. The
liturgical colour is red.
Holy Thursday (17 April):
Holy Thursday is the day on which Catholics celebrate
the Last Supper, at which Christ instituted the Mass and
the Sacrament of Holy Communion. It is the first day of
the Triduum, the three days before Easter Sunday.
Good Friday (18 April):
A day of fasting and abstinence of the Church
commemorating Jesus' crucifixion and death. Worship
customs include Veneration of the Cross, praying the
Stations of the Cross, communion from the reserved
Holy Thursday host, and the reading of the Passion. The
liturgical colour was once black, but is now red.
Holy Saturday (19 April):
This is the final day of Holy Week. Often a fire is lit
outside the church and parishioners light a candle from
this fire and process into a darkened church. Holy
Saturday is the final night before the Feast of the
Resurrection, which begins at the Great Easter Vigil.
Easter Sunday (20 April):
Easter is a feast day that celebrates Christ's resurrection
from the dead. It is celebrated on the Sunday following
Holy Week. Easter is also a 50-day season. The
liturgical colour is white and the day is a holy day of
obligation.

forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a camp fire?
Have a fantastic holiday and remember to....
Stay classy, All Saints’

ACTIVITIES GALORE FOR THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
A live performance, three workshops and five fun films make up this April's school holiday program in the Scenic Rim.
The Treasure of Captain Curlylocks is a live performance combining comedy, music and puppetry telling the tale of a
treasure chest being washed up on Tugun Beach. What's inside is not the rubies and pearls that you might expect but a
hotch-potch of the funny, the fantastical, the weird and the wonderful. Nadia Sundae takes her audience on a fun-filled
adventure to a land where the imagination runs free. It is suitable for 3 to 8 year olds and their families and hits the
stage at Boonah Cultural Centre at 10.30am and 2pm on Friday 11 April. Adults $14; concessions $12 and children $8.50.
One of the workshops comes from the exciting Cai Guo-Giang: Falling Back to Earth exhibition which is still on display at
GoMA. The activities will be at both the Centre Beaudesert and Boonah Cultural Centre during opening hours from
Tuesday 8 to Thursday 17 April (excluding Saturday and Sunday).
Bec Andersen and Kate Raymont are two regular holiday workshop tutors and this time their workshops both have
Easter themes. Bec will show participants how to make a glove bunny and Kate will make and decorate Easter treats.
These workshops are both at Boonah Cultural Centre, the Centre Beaudsert as well as at the Vonda Youngman
community Centre on Tamborine Mountain. Workshop price is $12.
$5 is all it costs to see any of the five films that have been chosen for this program. A drink and a snack are also included
in this great price.
The five films are Turbo (G), Free Birds (G), Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (PG), Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (G)
and The Croods (PG).

Many hands make light work!!! On Friday, two people are required to be rostered on one gate from 7am to 3pm while on Saturday we are manning 3 gates, requiring 7 people to be rostered on per time slot throughout the day from 5am to 8pm. The Moogerah Passion Play “He’s Alive”!!! is a perfect holiday destination for all the family, and a wonderful way to live the first Easter. As usual, it is on at the beautiful Lake Theatre, next to the Lake Moogerah Caravan Park, and as usual it’s FREE. Children (and adults) can put on Biblical head-dresses, and really feel they are part of Israeli society in the time of Jesus. This is the twenty-second year of the Play, and it will be an exciting new production. Twilight performances begin at 5.00 p.m. on Saturday 12th April, Sunday 13th April, Good Friday 18th April, and Easter Saturday 19th April. Food and drinks will be available from 4.00pm. Take family and friends to The Moogerah Passion Play this year.
