A Word from Pastor Jim Marn JULY 30 VOTERS MEETING – 9:45—10:30 AM Since we have usually not had Adult Bible Class on the 5 th Sundays during the summer, we’re scheduling this Voters Meengs BE- TWEEN WORSHIP SERVICES to make it easily accessible to worshipers from the 8:15 and 10:45 services. Vong to fund the roof replacement through the LCEF’s low-interest Church Improvement Loan Program is the first item of business. The second item is a proposal of next steps towards a new sanctuary, including checkpoints along the way. The proposal is our Board of Directors’ response to the Feasibility Study recommendaons. Paper copies of the Feasibility Study summary are available at church. PROPOSED NEXT STEPS TOWARDS A NEW SANCTUARY Background: We’re much closer to a new sanctuary than we were when the 2011 Capital Campaign produced giſts of $1.3 million dollars. Since we weren’t able to build at that me, that $1.3 million was used for a temporary pay-down of our $4.2 million mortgage. Since we have made all of our mortgage payments (principal and interest), and balanced our congre- gaonal budget over the past 3 years, we are in a posion to borrow back not just the $1.3 million, but over $1.4 million. With addional giſts of nearly $100,000 in our campaign fund, approximately $1.5 is available toward facilies expansion. Phase I: Last December a $3.8 - $4.0 million sanctuary and classroom project was pre- sented. The Feasibility Study revealed that a $2.3 - $2.5 million sanctuary project is a more reasonable next step. That project would require $800,000 to $1,000,000 of addional funding. The Feasibility Study revealed that $800,000 is a realisc capital campaign target. Capital Campaign Preparaon: Two things have to happen before we can start a cam- paign: 1) Verificaon of financing opons with the Lutheran Church Extension Fund. We are proposing to do that in August, or as soon as possible. If financing opons are favorable, 2) We propose to get firm costs for the project from our architect and design/build team. The price tag for doing the architectural and engineering studies to arrive at those numbers is about $168,000, which is included in the overall cost of the project. When the cost of the overall project is confirmed and financing is verified, we can make a decision about going forward with a Capital Campaign. Sanctuary Fund: Since we have nearly $100,000 available in the Fund now, we need to re- ceive contribuons of about $70,000 more before we can afford the architectural and engi- neering studies. PLEASE KEEP PRAYING FOR GOD’S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDANCE, AS WE SEEK TO MINISTER FAITHFULLY IN HIS NAME! CALL COMMITTEE NEWS The Call Team is connuing its inial phone interviews on the new list of candidates. Keep praying for the Lord’s guidance. COMING AUGUST 6: Commissioning of Nathan De Young Nathan will be commissioned as Director of Chrisan Educaon in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and installed as our Minister to Children & Youth. Get ready for a celebraon! NOW HIRING: St. Paul Lutheran Church is looking for a church admin. assistant. This is a part-me posion of somewhat flexible hours totaling 18 hours per week. Applicants should be friendly and outgoing and enjoy working with others in a team seng. Desired skills include computer competency especially Word, Publisher, Excel and Constant Contact. Dues include worship support: scheduling, bullen creaon and copying, announcement page, and Easy Worship services on the big screen. Other dues include member tracking, informaon sharing, and support of the Church ministry staff. Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover leer to Dr. Joel Dietrich – [email protected] Baskets for this year’s seniors are in the hallway. This is the last call to fill them with items they will need. Preschool through High School classes will resume in September. What is God's ulmate purpose for miracles He reveals to you in Scripture, or performs in your life?
