Explain the problem In grade six I had some problems with the internet at home and at school, the internet was preety slow. The page organizing on the website, it was hard to organize the pages like where you want them to be, under what page are they in. The information was a bit hard to find because we didn’t get to plan things and make a draft on a google docs or a word document.

#1. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Website : It was a really good website, it had what I was looking for like pictures and instructions. what I didn’t like about it was that it was a little hard to understand, it was in the adult language.

#2. http://www.weebly.com/ : This site answwers all your questions and tell you more. Tips, advice and even solutions to problems! They had snip-pit videos that are easy to understand, there is so many new things I learned. But there was no Text only arrows and sentences.

#3.http://howtomakeabrandnewwebsite.com/ : This website was full of information and steps well only 3 steps. but it didn’t have any pictures or videos.

#4.http://www.thesitewizard.com/gettingstarted/startwebsite.shtml :The website is OK but its not so visual and it doesn’t really make sense, only some sentences. It didn’t engage me like the other websites. What I liked about it was that i gave a lot of information and example sentences.

Design brief For this grade 7 year, we have a new challenge. Our challenge or task is to create a website. Students and teachers will call them portfolio’s, online portfolio. This is where we talk about ourselves and how we are doing in school. We can put in assigments and things that we are proud of, like our math test that turned out well.

EvaluationThis year we have to make a google site or a online portfolio. Last year our IT teacher taught us how to put in our opinions on someone else’s site. We have to first share our site to the public. Underneath each page there is a comment box where you can write your feed back.

Criterion B: Design

3–4 The student generates a few designs, justifying the choice of one design and fully evaluating this against the design specification.

5–6 The student generates a range of feasible designs, each evaluated against the design specification. The student justifies the chosen design and evaluates it fully and critically against the design specification.

What does “a range of feasible designs, each evaluated against the design specification” mean in the context of criterion B, design?

The first site I used Was “weebly.” The template or the style I chose was a simple art and wood frame with spots for picture and writing.

Negative-When I first tried this site it was really hard to find the design structures so I had to ask a friend to help me. They should make the design structure page more clearly and put it on the homepage or on our own homepage when we first sign up. After you put in a picture YOu have to save to insert in the picture, that was a little hard to find.

Positive-I like this “weebly” site because it had a lot of design that we can choose from and also colours can change and it was easy, the button were all on one side. The writing was easy and big. Easy to read and the template represents me.

For this template i chose the charity template with the title heading on top and a photo on the bottom, Maybe I could add a picture of the class in one of the photo frames.

Negative- What I didn’t like about this template was that it was hard to see the contents like the homepage and the sports page.

Positive- The thing I liked about this template was that it was light colored and also very easy going, what I mean by that is that the template is school appropriate and represents youth.

The template I chose was a adventure template sort of like travel website. Where we can put in our travel journal.

Negative- What I didn’t like about this template was that the picture was really big and took most of the writing space.

Positive- What I liked about the picture was that it was representing the sports part of my life. It was adventures. it did show most of my skills like creativity and sports and like what I do in my life.

Reflect: I chose this theme because I thought it was appropriate for school and it is creative and simple which represents me! It fits in the school information and it also can talk about my personality. I can add pictures on pages to explain what the page is about.

3–4 The student produces a plan that contains a number of logical steps that include resources and time. The student makes some attempt to evaluate the plan.

What are the expectations of the plans that students develop?

Using Google Spreadsheet you should make a plan that outlines the amount of time and resources needed for completing the creation stage (Criteria D).

Resources can include text, graphics, codes, media files, and so on, with appropriate citations if they are not the original work of the student.

Finally discuss whether or not you think your plan will work out and what stumbling blocks there might be.

Evaluation: I think I did a good job but I had some confusing moments and difficulties when I was working on the date. I think I could've done this work more efficiently, use my time well.

Evaluation: I love my website because it feels like its more organized for me and also that it is the template I chose. If I could improve on it I think I could improve on maybe the homepage and the academic page should have more information.

7-9-2013,SaturdayToday I worked on my homepage, it was hard to figure out, I experimented more on the weebly pages. On this day I tried to finish the my website as soon as possible. I had a hard time making the video today. I tried to add it to youtube but it wasn’t that easy.

Personal bio-This was an easy page! All the info about me is there.Academic life- This was an ok task to do. I couldn’t add any pages because it was hard to explain about.Hobbies- I talk about my hobbies I do at home

I did all these pages in one night and improved it the next night while publishing it the next night!

Criterion E: Evaluate

3–4 The student evaluates the product/solution and his or her own performance and suggests ways in which these could be improved. The student tests the product/solution to evaluate it against the design specification.

Product testing: A stage in the design process where versions of products (for example, prototypes) are tested against the need, applied to the context and presented to the end-user or target audience.

Reflection:

When I got my responses back from the others, I learned that I need to add more like color to the background because it is dull and has no cheerful colour but it is simple, I would maybe add something that might match well with this colour. I like it when I get feedback from my teachers and friends because then I know what to add and what to improve on, maybe like what they liked and who would they show this website to, is this website appropriate for others younger or older than you? If I had to ever change my questions then I would change some of them like maybe I would add more thinking questions for the others who have filled this form out. Some of the questions should be: Did this website give you a feel of Maggie’s life? Did this website teach you anything new about Maggie or her school? Maybe some questions like that.

Criterion F: Attitudes in technologyMaximum: 6This criterion refers to students’ attitudes when working in technology. It focuses on an overall assessment of two aspects:

● personal engagement (motivation, independence, general positive attitude)● attitudes towards safety, cooperation and respect for others.
