STAGE 1 ‘OFF BY HEART' POETRY COMPETITION – This week in class, all Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students will present their chosen poem to their class. The teachers have the tough job of selecting two finalists from their class using a marking Criteria. The final will be on Monday 24 September at 1.50pm in the school hall.

All parents are welcome to attend. If your child is a finalist, you will be notified early next week so you can make arrangements to be here. It has been fantastic to see so many students developing a love of poetry and showing enthusiasm when practising their poem in front of their peers.

PSSA SOCCER KNOCKOUT COMPETITION On Tuesday 4 September, Aldavilla Primary School’s Open girls soccer team played their Round 6 match as part of the NSW PSSA Soccer Knockout Competition. The thrilling encounter against Narranga Public School was played at Toormina in torrential rain. This resulted in a close game filled with lots of slipping and sliding. With the scores locked at 1-1 during the halftime break, Aldavilla went on the attack but were unable to find the back of the net. The final score 3-1 in favour of the Narranga. Mr O’Brien would like to thank the girls for their courageous and inspiring efforts throughout this year. A super performance entailing sportsmanship and friendship was a fitting end to their impressive run in the competition. A further thank you to all the parents, relatives and friends who travelled to Toormina on the day and endured the wild weather. An email sent to Aldavilla Primary School from Narranga read, “Please congratulate Aldavilla’s girls. They played fantastic”. Aldavilla bow out of the competition as one of the top 32 primary schools in NSW. Mr O’Brien

ALDAVILLA’S SPRING SPECTACULAR UPDATE - 27 SEPTEMBER Disco: As part of our preparations for the fete, we will be holding a lunch time disco on Wednesday 12 September for 3-6 students. To gain entry, students will need to donate a

the most tickets will receive a free Showbag and 5 free ride tickets.

they require help for their stall. If you can spare some time before the fete or on the night, please fill in the Parent Helper Roster form and return to the office.

Class Stalls: Last week, each class received a wristband specific to the donation needs of

their Homebase. Please return these items to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

tricks or treats for this stall. Please contact Miss Giorgi if you have any questions or queries.

STEHANIE ALEXANDER KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM We are now already into our last two weeks of cooking - please remember that we do need volunteers for each cooking class to enable students to complete all recipes in a safe environment. Thanks again for all the wonderful volunteers who have helped students produce some incredible food from around the world. Our tastebuds were taken on an Oriental Journey from the hot & spicy food of India to the exotic taste of Asia - including Thailand, Phillippines, China & Malaysia to the delights of sushi, gyozas and wontons renown in Japanese cooking. Hope you have enjoyed the journey so far and hope to see you for the last leg! Just a reminder for donations for the Fete Raffle – donations need to be non perishables and in date at the time of the raffle draw. All donations can be left at the front office. Please let me know if you can help with the Pizza and Rock n Roll Café at the fete. Thanks again, really appreciate all the support. Gaye Dufty Aldavilla Primary School, Community Project Coordinator
