APD Notables...Field Services BureauSpecial Operations Division...• OnMay15,OfficersassistedtheSpecial
InvestigationsDivisionwithabuybust.Twosubjectswerearrested,onefirearmwasrecovered,andonepoundofmethamphetaminewasseized.
• OnMay16,OfficerS.AriaslocatedaPriority1drunkdriverwithachildinthevehicle,resultinginafelonyarrest.
• OnMay17,OfficerA.SedlerapprehendedarobberysuspectintheNortheastAreaCommand.
• InMay,APD’sBombSquadrespondedto14bomb-relatedcallouts.ThecalloutsincludedsweepsfortheMayor’sBall,twosweepsforIsotopesgames,andtwosweepsforavisitingAirForceGeneral.TheBombSquadrespondedtofivesuspiciousitemsthroughoutthemonth.AsuspiciousbackpackinfrontofCityHall,asuspiciousbagplacedinfrontofaBCSOdeputy’shome,andfourcalloutsofpossiblepipebombs.AlloftheseitemswereinspectedbytheBombSquadandweredeterminedtonotcontainexplosives.TheBombSquadalsoconductedasearchofaProbationandParoleemployee’sresidenceafterabombthreatonMay 13.
• OnMay29,theBombSquadwascalledtoapossiblepipebomb.BombTechniciansdeterminedtheitemtobealiveexplosivedevice,andrendereditsafeonsite.Itappearedtobeacardboardtubewrappedinducttape,andfilledwithflashpowder.
• OnMay31,theCorralesPoliceDepartmenthadanunknownsubjectleavealargeboxoffireworksattheirstation.APDBombTechniciansrecoveredthefireworksandlaterdisposedofthemattheBombRange.
• APD’sBombSquadcontinuedtoassisttheFieldServicesBureauthroughoutthemonthbyrespondingto33callsforservice.
• OnMay23,SouthwestAreaCommandsupervisorsrequestedtheassistanceoftheK-9Unittoassistinlocatingaburglarysuspectthatfledonfoot.Thesuspecthadafelonywarrantforabscondingfromhisparoleofficeronanoriginalchargeofattemptedmurder.TheK-9Unitarrivedandconductedatwo-teamareasearchwithintheestablishedperimeter.Thesubjectwaslocatedhidinginashedofanoff-dutypoliceofficer.Hewastakenintocustody
andtransferredtotheprimarypatrolofficer.• OnMay20,HorseMountedUnit(HMU)
OfficersC.BreedenandOfficerS.CandelariapatrolledtheNorthwestAreaCommand,Beat618onhorseback.Duringpatrol,theHMUwalkedaroundCottonwoodMallandadjacentretailproperties.EveryonethatencounteredtheHMUwasanxioustointeractwiththehorsesandtheirriders.
Metro Traffic Division...• TheDWIUnitcompleted191DWIandthree
DREarrestsinMay.• TheDWISeizureUnitconfiscated101vehicles
inMay,totalling$50,064.• InMay,theTrafficDivisionissued1,717
citationsand24cellphoneviolationcitations.TherewerethreefatalcrashesinMay.
• TheTrafficUnitcompletedthreeDWIarrests,fourmisdemeanorarrests,andfourfelonyarrests.TheTrafficUnitwrote1,053citationsand24cellphonecitations.
• TheTrafficUnitrespondedto386callsforserviceinMay.
Field Services Bureau - EastSoutheast Area Command...• OnMay14,OfficerN.Sulierwasdispatched
toasoutheastapartmenttoinvestigateadisturbance.Whenshearrived,shecontactedavictim.Thevictimstatedthatshehadbeeninafightwithafriend.Thevictimstatedthatthefriendhadforcedhiswayintoherresidenceandbatteredherintheface.Thevictimstatedtheoffenderlefttheresidenceandcrashedintohercar,causingextensivedamagetotherearofhervehicle.OfficerN.Sulierlocatedandarrestedtheoffenderforaggravatedburglary,childabuse,anddomesticviolencecharges.
• OnMay20,OfficersN.Sulier,A.Portillos,andDetectiveA.Lovatoarrestedasuspectforbatteryonapoliceofficer.OfficersweredispatchedtoanortheastAlbuquerquelocationtoinvestigateamaleincrisiswhohadstatedthathewantedtokillsomeone.Whenofficersarrived,thesuspectadvancedonthemholdinganobjectlikeitwasgun,yelling“Ihaveagun,shootme!”Theofficersidentifiedtheobjectthathewasholdingasacellphoneandusedverbalde-escalationtechniquestocalmhim.Theoffenderwasdeterminedtohavebatteredhislive-ingirlfriendwhileholdingtheirchild.
• OnMay5,OfficerTillmanwasdispatchedtoareportofasubjectshootingfromavehicle.Uponarrival,officerswereimmediatelyflaggeddownbyanelderlyfemalewhosaidshehadjustbeenrobbedandherpursewasstolenatgunpoint.WhileOfficerNadasinterviewedthevictim,OfficerTillmansawthevehicle.Officersmadecontactwiththevehicleafterwatchingtheoccupantsthrowaredpurseintoanearbydumpster.Fivesuspectsweredetained.Thedriverwasbookedforshootingfromamotorvehicle.
Northeast Area Command...• OnMay6,OfficerR.DeedsassistedRobbery
Unitdetectivesinthearrestandbookingofaserialrobberysuspect.Thesuspectwasseencommittinganarmedrobberyofadrugstore.
• OnMay28,OfficersR.LockeandR.Deedsrespondedtoanautoburglaryinprogress.Thesubjecthadenteredtwoseparatevehicles.Hewasdetainedbyneighborsuntiltheofficersarrived.Hewasfoundwithapproximately$50inchangeinhispossession,alongwithseveralcellularphonesandlaptopcomputers.Hewasbookedontwocountsofautoburglary.
• OnMay11,SergeantVelardeandOfficerC.Phillipsrespondedtotworelatedcallsononeresidentialroad.Thecallswereinreferencetosuspectedvandalismandautoburglaries.UponSergeantVelarde’sarrival,hewasinformedthatthesuspectswerelastseenrunningwestonanearbyroad.Hewasabletolocateandstoptheoffenders.HeandOfficerPhillipswereabletotaketheoffendersintocustody.Sixautoburglarieswereclearedfromthearrest.
• OnMay18,OfficersForsbergandShannonweredispatchedtoanapartmentcomplexinresponsetoaburglary.Apartmentmaintenanceandsecuritypersonnelobservedamalebreakingintostorageunitsatthecomplexandwereabletodetainhimuntilofficersarrived.Threecommercialburglariesweresolvedasaresultofthearrest.
• OnMay14,OfficerF.Chavezwasdispatchedtoaviolentdomesticdisputecall.Theex-wifedialed911duetoherex-husbandbeingextremelyintoxicated,andwasfightingwithherandherbrother.Dispatchwasabletohearthefemaleyelling“Hurry,beforehekillsmybrother!”OfficerChavezcontactedthepartiesinvolved.Thefemalestatedthatshelivedattheresidencewithherbrotherandex-husband.The3

Additionalchargeswereincludedinthearrest,includingbatteryonahouseholdmember,interferencewithcommunications,andchildabuse.
• OnMay4,OfficerS.Molinawasdispatchedtoinvestigateacommercialburglary.Uponhisarrival,herealizedthattwosecurityofficershadtheoffenderincustody.Theoffenderconfessedtotheburglaryandwasbookedforcommercialburglary,possessionofburglarytools,andlarceny.
• OnMay6,OfficerL.Jaramillowasdispatchedtoinvestigateadomesticviolencecall.Hisinvestigationdeterminedthattheoffenderhadchokedhissisterandstruckherheadagainstthefloor.Theoffenderwastakenintocustodyandbookedforfelonyaggravatedbatteryagainstahouseholdmember.
• OnMay6,OfficerA.Portilloswasdispatchedtoinvestigateadomesticviolencecall.Hisinvestigationdeterminedthattheoffenderhadbittenhisgirlfriendandimprisonedherinthebathroomuntilfamilymemberswereabletocometoheraid.TheoffenderwasbookedintotheMDCforbatteryonahouseholdmemberandfalseimprisonment.
• OnMay1,OfficersG.Bartlett,J.Trebitowski,andActingSergeantK.Lueckenhoffweredispatchedtoinvestigateareportofdomesticviolence.Duringtheirinvestigation,thevictimtoldofficersthattheoffenderhadamethamphetaminelabintheclosetoftheirapartment.Officersreceivedpermissiontosearchandlocatedthemethlabasdescribed.TheMethLabteamtookovertheinvestigationandtheoffenderwasbookedonfelonyandmisdemeanorcharges.
• OnMay1,OfficerJ.TrebitowskiwasonrandompatroltravelingsouthonWyomingwhenheobservedasilvervehiclewithanexpiredlicenseplate.OfficerTrebitowskiconductedatrafficstopwhichledtothediscoveryofcocaineanddrugparaphernalia.Thedriverwasarrestedandbookedonthecharges.
• OnMay10,OfficerG.Bartlettwasonrandompatrolandobservedafewsubjectsloiteringatapawnshop.ThepawnshophadapostednotrespassingsignandOfficerBartlettinitiatedcontactwiththesubjects.OfficerBartlettwasabletolocateasmallamountofheroinontwoofthesubjects.Bothwerearrestedandbookedonthecharges.Anothersubjectwascitedforpossessionofdrugparaphernalia.

ex-husbandwasyellingprofanitiesattheofficersandaccusingthemofbeingmurderers.OfficerChavezwasabletode-escalatethesituationandtookthemaleintocustodywithoutincident.
• OnMay9,OfficerBludworthwasdispatchedtoassistCommanderRemikerwithatrafficstopatSanFranciscoandWyoming.CommanderRemikerhadbeenflaggeddownregardinganaggravateddriverwhowascuttingvehiclesoffandalmoststrikingcurbs.WhenOfficerBludworthspoketothedriveritappearedthathewasintoxicated.Fieldsobrietytestswereadministeredanditwasdeterminedthattherewasprobablecausethathewasintoxicated.HerefusedabreathtestandwasbookedonaggravatedDWIcharges.
• OnMay22,OfficerB.Lampiris-Trembaarrestedanoffenderforafelonywarrantandpossessionofmethamphetamine.Healsohadawarrantforkidnapping.OfficerLampiris-TrembacontactedthesuspectintheareaofCandelariaandEubankandthroughinvestigationwasalsoabletochargehimformethamphetaminepossession.
• OnMay29,OfficerH.Dangmadeafelonyarrestforanaggravatedassault.OfficerDangrespondedtoacarcrashatMenaulandAmbassadorwherethecallerstatedtheotherdriverpointedahandgunather.OfficerDangconductedinterviewsandafterathoroughinvestigation,ledtothearrestoftheoffender.
• OnMay25,OfficerJ.CarrascowasdispatchedtotheareaofWyomingandCandelariaaboutaresidentialburglaryinprogress.Uponhisarrival,helocatedtheoffendersvehicleandobservedthesuspectleavetheresidence.Theoffenderfledonfootandadditionalofficersweresummoned.Aperimeterwassetup,andtheoffenderwascaptured.
Foothills Area Command...• OfficerK.Sheleycompletedtwocommercial
burglaryarrestsatalargeretailer.Thesubjectshadpreviousbeencaughtshopliftingandhadbeenissuedacriminaltrespassnotification.
• FromMay24-27,OfficerAbeytaalongwithTeam8,conductedatraffictacticalplanonInterstate40westboundatTramwayBlvd.aftertheareacommandreceivednumerouscomplaintsaboutspeedingfromthepublic.Thetacticalplanyieldedover20citationsforspeeding.
• OnMay15,OfficerM.Smithcapturedanarmed
robber.TherobberyoccurredintheValleyAreaCommand.Theeventwasagoodexampleoflateralcommunicationandintra-commandcooperation.
• OnMay13,OfficerSouersassistedSWATwithatrafficstopandwasabletorecovercocainethatwasvaluedat$25,000.
• OnMay17,OfficerLuttrellmadecontactwithseveralsubjectsintheareaofWesternSkiesandCentral.Hediscoveredthatonesubjecthadthreefelonywarrantsforhisarrest,anothersubjecthadtwofelonywarrantsfortheirarrest,andthethirdsubjecthadonemisdemeanorwarrantforhisarrest.Allwerebookedwithoutincident.
• OnMay9,officerswereflaggeddownatEubank/JuanTaboinresponsetoalargeapartmentfireattheMountainRunApartmentcomplex.Twobuildingswereengulfedinflames.AllofTeam3respondedtoassistwithagroupeffortinevacuatingapartments,securingthescene,directingtraffic,andleadingevacueestoasafearea.Thefirewasextinguishedafewhourslater.Duetotheswiftactionofofficers,noinjurieswerereported.
• OnMay15,OfficerJ.MeyerrespondedtoarobberyinvestigationthatoccurredintheValleyAreaCommand.TheoffenderwasbelievedtohavefledtoaresidenceintheFoothills.OfficerMeyerwasabletocoordinatewithotherofficersandestablishsurveillanceontheoffender’sresidence.AsOfficerMeyerwasonscene,heobservedtheoffenderfleeinavehicle.Afelonystopwasconducted,andtherobberyoffenderwastakenintocustodywithoutincident.
• May2,OfficerRamirezwasdispatchedtoasuicidecallinresponsetoamalesubjectarmedwithaknife.Uponarrival,thesubjectbeganmakingstatementsthathewantedsuicidebycopandwasextremelyagitated.Familymemberswereattemptingtoholdthesubjectdown,butheresisted.OfficerRamirezwasabletogaincontrolofthesituationwithassistanceofotherofficersandsafelytakethesuspectintocustody.Hewaslatertransportedtoahospital.OfficerRamirezstayedbehindandestablishedarapportwiththesubject’smotherwhowasverydistraught.OfficerRamirezwasabletoprovideresourcesforherinanefforttocomfortherandassistwithlong-termgoals.
• OnMay7,OfficerWhitecompletedaresidentialburglaryarrest.Officersweredispatchedtothelocation.Amalereportedthathewassleeping

inabedroominthehouseandentrywasgainedbybreakingthebedroom’sslidingglassdoor.Officersclearedthehouseandlocatedthesuspectintheroom.Hewasarrestedandsearched.Officersfoundjewelry,anIpod,tablet,andprescriptiondrugsonhim.Hewasbookedforburglary.
• OnMay21,OfficerMaycumberrespondedtoacallregardinga4-yearoldchildwhowasfoundaloneintheareaofLomasandTramway.Throughinvestigation,OfficerMaycumberwasabletolocatethechild’smother.Themotherwashighlyintoxicatedandpossiblyonanunknowndrug.Whenofficersmadecontactwiththemother,shedidnotknowwhereherchildwasandhadnoideathatthe4-yearoldhadleftthehouse.Themotherwasinneedofmedicalcare.ShewastransportedtoUNMHformedicalevaluation.A48-hourholdwasplacedonthechild,andCYFDwascontactedforfurtherinvestigation.
Field Services Bureau - WestOffice of Emergency Management (OEM)...• OEMstaffcreatedatraininghandbookfor45
positionsrequiredintheEmergencyOperationsCenter(EOC).Themanualswillassisteachparticipantinunderstandingandaccomplishingtheirrolesandresponsibilities.
• StaffdevelopedexercisecriteriaforSpringtable-topexercisesformetropolitanchaplains/griefcounselors;publicinformationcoordinatorsamonglocal,state,andfederalpartners;andpreparationsforafull-scaleexercisetoenhanceregionalresponsecapabilities.
• StaffcollaboratedwithAPDGISspecialiststocreateGISlayersforinclusionintoWebEOCmappingsoftwarewhichwillallowOEMtoprojectmapsandresourcesbylocationintheEOCduringactivations.
• StaffcoordinatedwithmultipleareapartnersinpreparationoftheSpringMMRSfull-scaleexercisescheduledforJune18andtwotable-topexercisespertainingtochaplainservicesandpublicinformationneedsduringdisasters.
Valley Area Command...• OnMay2,OfficerS.Torresrespondedtoan
autoburglaryinprogress.Hewasabletoinvestigateandapprehendtheoffenders.Hecompletedfourfelonyarrestsforautoburglary.
• OnMay4,OfficerLandavazoinitiatedtwotrafficstops;bothendedindriversbeingarrestedforDWI.
• OnMay4,OfficersH.SennettandB.Melendrezrespondedtoapossiblecommercialburglaryinprogress.Accordingtothecaller,twomalesubjectswereobservedclimbingthefenceofarecyclingplantandremovingitemsfromtheyard.Onceonscene,officerslocatedtwobicyclesalongthefarnorthsidewallandcouldhearmovementfromwithinthelocation.AperimeterwasimmediatelyestablishedandasofficerswereawaitingthearrivalofaK-9unitforassistance,themalesweretakenintocustodyastheyattemptedtojumpthewallwheretheirbicycleswerelocated.Atthetimetheyweretakenintocustody,thesubjectshadnostolenitemsintheirpossession;however,severalsheetsofmetalwerelocatednearthebikes.Duetothesubjectsnevergainingentranceintothebuildingandonlyscouringthroughtheyard,asummonswasissuedforpettylarceny.
• OnMay16,OfficersJ.ArnoldandA.Herpolsheimerweredispatchedtotheareaof6thandLomasinresponsetoavehiclethatwasdrivingwithextensivedamageandappearedtohaverecentlybeeninvolvedinanaccident.Uponarrival,officerslocatedgougemarksandproceededtofollowthemintotheNortheastAreaCommand.OfficerslaterlocatedthevehicleintheareaofSanMateoandCandelaria.Thevehiclewascurrentlybeingdrivenbyamaleandwasmissingitsfrontlefttire.Officersinitiatedatrafficstopandfoundthemaletobeverydisoriented.Afouryearoldchildwasasleepinthebackseat.Officershadthemaleexitthevehicleandconductedaseriesofsobrietytestswhichtheheperformedpoorly.HewastakenintocustodyandtransportedtothePrisonerTransportCenter(PTC).WhileatthePTC,themaleblewthelegallimitanditwasdiscoveredthathewaspossiblyundertheinfluenceofanarcotic.ADrugRecognitionExpertwascalledoutandassumedcaseresponsibilityduetoofficershavingapendingfelonychargeofchildabuse/endangerment.Alegalguardianwaslaterlocatedtotakepossessionofthechild.
• OfficerS.Saavedraconductedatrafficstopnearaconveniencestoreforavehiclehavingaskippedplate.DuringaNCICcheck,itwasdiscoveredthatbothoccupantshadseveralfelonywarrantsincludingtwofromTexas.
Thedriverofthevehiclehadastolenguninhispossession.Duringasearchofthevehicle,narcoticswerelocated.DetectiveFranklinfromtheTaskForceassistedwiththecase.Besidesthewarrants,thedriverwasbookedonseveralfelonycharges.
Southwest Area Command...• Officersrespondedtoacallofa20-year-oldman
thatshothimselfinthegroinwhileattemptingtounloadafirearm.
• OfficerD.Anzoescortedaviolentwomanoutofarestaurantonlytohaveherturnonhimandkickhimintheface.Shewasdetainedandbookedforbatteryonapoliceofficer.
• OfficersQuesadaandMayfieldrespondedtoarollovercollisiononInterstate40.Thevehiclehadfledfromotherofficersmomentsearlier.ThevehiclewasidentifiedasbeingstolenfromIsletaPuebloapproximatelyonemonthearlier.Anassaultriflewasfoundatthescene,alongwithwhatappearedtobenumerousstolenpurses.
• OfficersDanielandCarpentercaughtthreesubjectsjustmomentsaftertheystole$6,000worthofwheelsandtiresfromayoungman’srarepickuptruck.
• Officersweredispatchedtoacallregardingafelonyaggravatedassaultandbattery.Uponarriving,officerslearnedthatthecallerandhercurrentboyfriendhadbeenbeatenwithabatandthreatenedwithaknifebythecaller’sex-boyfriend.Thealtercationstartedoveravehicleownedbyboththecallerandherex-boyfriend.Officerswereabletolocatetheex-boyfriendandhisbrotherandtakethemintocustody.
• Officersweredispatchedtoacallregardingadomesticdispute.Thecallerstatedthathersisterwasthreateningherwithaknife.Officersrequestedthattheoffenderexitthehouse,butsherefused.Theoffenderadvisedpolicethatshewasnotgoingtobetakentojailandshewouldkillherselfbeforeshewouldgotojail.Aperimeterwassetup,andSWATwascalled.ImpactTeamdetectiveswerealsocalledtothescene.Asearchwarrantwasobtained.ThefemaleeventuallyexitedthehouseafterSWATdeployedteargas.Theoffenderwasarrestedandbookedforaggravatedassaultandkidnapping.
• OnMay8,OfficerM.Vallejoswasflaggeddowninordertorespondtoanautoburglarythathadjustoccurred.Oneofthevictimshadchasedtheoffender.OfficerM.Vallejoslocated
theoffenderashortdistanceawayandtookhimintocustody.OfficerVallejoscompletedtheinvestigationandtheoffenderadmittedtoreachinginavehicletakingtwocellphones.ThesubjectwasbookedintotheMDC.
• OnMay24,OfficersM.VallejosandD.Madridweredispatchedtoadomesticdisputewereasubjecthadabaseballbat.Asubjectwastakenintocustodyforaggravatedassaultwithadeadlyweapon.Thesubjecthadhithispregnantsisterintheheadandcauseextensivedamagetotheinsidethehouse.ThesubjectwasbookedintotheMDCafterbeingtreatedatthehospital.Whileconductingtheinvestigation,itwaslearnedthatthesubjecthadbeenwaitingforofficerswithknives,andstatedtohisfamilythathewasgoingtohaveofficersshoothim.ThefamilywasabletotaketheknivesawaypriortoAPD’sarrival.Thesubjectalsomademultiplethreatsofsuicidewhileatthehospital.AhazardwasplacedonhisaddressandareferralwassenttotheCITUnit.
• OnMay8,acallwasmaderegardingamalesubjectwhowasstabbedbyhisneighbor.Thecallerstatedthatherboyfriendwasstabbedinthebackbytheirneighbor.Thesuspectfledthescenepriortoofficer’sarrival.Metro1spottedthevehicletravelingsouthboundonOldCoorsanddirectedrespondingofficerstohislocation.Officersstoppedthesuspectwithoutincidentandtookhimintocustody.
Northwest Area Command...• OfficersC.EnyartandthebulkofTeam7did
anoutstandingjobfacilitatingthearrestofaburglarysuspectthatwasapprehendedwhilebreakingintoavehicle.Thesuspectwasfoundtohaveinhispossessionpropertytakenfromavictim’svehicleatthetimeofthearrest.TheNorthwestImpactTeamwascalledoutandthesuspectwasbookedonautoburglarycharges.Thiswasthetentharrestforthesuspect.
• OnMay11,officerswereworkingpatrolwhentheycameacrossasuspiciouslyparkedvehicle.Theymadecontactwiththeoccupants-a19yearoldmaleanda15yearoldfemale.Bothsubjectswerenakedandshowedsignsofintoxication.Thesubjectswereadvisedtogetdressed,thenofficersbeganquestioningthem.Throughtheirinvestigation,OfficersLeeandLuchettiwereabletofindoutthesubject’sagesandidentities.Theywerealsoabletoascertainthatbothsubjectswereheavilyintoxicated.EMS6

andRescuerespondedtothescenetotreatthefemale.ShewastransportedtoUNMHduetoherintoxicatedstate.OfficersalsorespondedtoUNMHandmadecontactwithmedicalstaffaswellasthefemale’smother.Themalesubjectwasarrestedforcontributingtothedelinquencyofaminor.
• OfficersS.SolisandD.Kinzerprovidedfirstaidtoacarjackingvictimthathadbeenshotintheleg.Thecallresultedinafelonyarrestforrobbery.
• OfficerMorantarrestedanoffenderforfelonyshopliftingchargesafterthesubjectattemptedtostealmerchandisevaluedover$500fromalargeretailer.
• OfficerMaresarrestedanoffenderforaggravatedburglary,aggravatedbattery,andbreakingandenteringforanincidentthatoccurredataNorthwestresidence.Thesuspectforcedentryintotheresidencelookingforhiswife.Twosubjectswerebatteredwithintheresidencepriortohimleavingonfoot.Thesuspectwaslocatedhidingablockaway.

• OnMay31,AutoTheftUnitdetectiveswerecalledtoassistwithanautotheft/burglaryinvestigation.Detectiveswereadvisedthatastolenvehicle,whichwastakeninaresidentialburglary,wasbeingelectronicallytracked.Thedriverandpassengerweretakenintocustodyoncethevehiclewaslocated.Insidethestolenvehicle,illegalnarcoticsandastolenfirearmwerelocated.ItwasdeterminedthroughfurtherinvestigationthatthevehiclewastakenfromtheEastMountainsduringaburglary.Duringtheburglary,twovehicles,furniture,electronics,jewelry,creditcards,andafirearmweretaken.Thevictimestimatedthatover$100,000ofproperty/vehicleswastaken.Detectiveswereabletomaketwoarrestsandreturnthevictim’svehicleandfirearm.
• AutoTheftUnitdetectivesconductedaVINetchingeventinMayattheCottonwoodmall.
• OnMay18,BurglaryUnitofficersweredispatchedtoanapartmentcomplexinresponsetoacommercialburglaryinprogress.Apartmentsecurityhaddetainedoneoftheoffendersandidentifiedasecondsuspect.Officerslocatedsomeofthestolenpropertyinanapartment,andsecureditpendingasearchwarrant.BurglaryDetectivesarrivedonsceneandtookovertheinvestigation.Asearchwarrantwasobtainedfortheapartmentandsomeofthestolenpropertywasrecovered.BurglaryDetectiveswereabletoidentifyoneoftheotheroffendersandanarrestwarrantwasobtained.
• OnMay21,BurglaryUnitdetectivesobtainedtwofelonyburglarywarrantsforaknownserialcommercialburglarandlockpicker.Burglarydetectivesconductedsurveillanceatthesuspect’sresidence.Whenhewaslocated,BurglaryUnitdetectivesmadecontactwithhimandhewastakenintocustodywithoutincident.
• OnMay30,whileworkingaCommercialBurglaryTacticalOperation,BurglaryUnitdetectiveslocatedasuspiciousmalelurkingunderneathawindowofanapartment.Thesubjectappearedtobecheckingthewindowtoseeifitwasunlocked.Thesubjectwasstartledbysomethingandwalkedaway.BurglaryUnitdetectivesattemptedtocontacthimandhefledonfoot.Afterashortfootpursuit,hewastakenintocustody.Thesubjectwasfoundtohavethreefelonywarrantsandtwomisdemeanorwarrants.
• OnMay5,NITedetectiveshadabaittruckparkedintheSoutheastAreaCommandwhenasuspectenteredthetruckandtookbaitproperty.Hethengavethepropertytoanothermaninadifferentvehicle.Theoriginaloffenderdroveoffwiththebaittruckandthesecondmanfollowed.Theydrovetoalocationandbegantakingmoreitemsoutofthetruckwhentheywerearrested.

• OCUdetectivesandSpecialInvestigationDivisiondetectivesworkedjointlyonaninvestigationresultinginthedismantlingofafencingoperation.OCUdetectivesservedanarrestwarrantatastorageunitthatresultedintherecoveryofsuspectedstolenpropertyvaluedatapproximately$10,000.
• PawnShopdetectivesinitiatedandconductedatacticaloperationaimedatrecoveringstolenweapons.Inatwo-dayperiod,fivestolenhandgunswererecovered,includingaweaponwhichhadbeenstolenfromanAPDemployeeduringaresidentialburglary.
• MetalTheft,OCU,PawnShopandCNAUdetectivesinitiatedsurveillanceataresidenceinreferencetoanoutstandingwarrantforarepeatmetaltheftoffender.Thesuspecthadbeenidentifiedastheoffenderinvolvedinthetheftofpropertyvaluedatover$5000fromacellularretailer.Thesuspectwasobservedattheresidenceandwastakenintocustody.Hehasapproximately60otherarrestspriortothisarrest.
