Strategic Goal(s): Place an “X” in front of those that apply

X Goal 1: Prepare all Students to succeed as members of a global community and in a global economy.

X Goal 2: Eliminate the Achievement Gap.

Goal 3: Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse cadre of the highest quality teaching personnel, staff, and administrators.

Goal 4: Achieve recognition as a world-class educational system.

Board Priority(ies): Place an “X” in front of those that apply

X Priority 1.1: Develop Lifelong-Learner (LLL) competencies in all students.

X Priority 2.1: Prepare all students for workforce/college readiness.

Priority 4.1: Promote strategic alignment with the Vision, Mission, and Goals throughout the organization.

Priority 4.2: Expand two-way communication with and outreach to our stakeholders.

Priority 5.1: Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies in operational departments and instructional programs.

SIP Goal: Students will demonstrate mastery of the five power standards selected from the ACPS Life Long Learner Standards

SIP Objective (SMART - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timebound):

By June 2012, all students will demonstrate mastery or show improvement towards mastery on the following LLS as measured by the

staff developed rubric and reported quarterly.

Multiple and varied assessments will be used to measure progress: SOL, MAP, EPAT, Performance Tasks, Classroom Assessment

CPCS Power Standards from ACPS LLS:

1. Gather, organize, and analyze data, evaluate processes and products; and draw conclusions.

2. Think analytically, critically, and creatively to pursue new ideas, acquire new knowledge, and

make decisions.

To view Division Goals, Priorities, Strategies, and KPIs: http://www.k12albemarle.org/strategicplanning

3. Acquire and use precise language to clearly communicate ideas, knowledge, and processes.

4. Demonstrate ethical behavior and respect for diversity through daily actions and decision

making.

5. Apply habits of mind and metacognitive strategies to plan, monitor, and evaluate one's own

work.

CII Rapid School Improvement Indicators:

IIA02 Units of instruction include standards‐based objectives and criteria for mastery.

IIB04 Teachers individualize instruction based on pre‐test results to provide support for some students and enhanced learning opportunities for others.

IIIA05 All teachers maintain a record of each student’s mastery of specific learning objectives. IIIA11 All teachers use modeling, demonstration, and graphics. IIIA25 All teachers encourage students to paraphrase, summarize, and relate. IIIA26 All teachers encourage students to check their own comprehension. IIIC05 All teachers use a variety of instructional modes.

Supporting Data / Gap Evidence:

2010 – 11 SOL Results

Reading 72.2% Math 88.8%

Writing 43.8% History/Civics 33%

Science 75%

SOL results indicate movement toward the required basic standards but no measures have previously been developed or designed to measure

progress toward the more concept centered LLS. CPCS staff has chosen to develop such measures and report progress quarterly through a

narrative standards based report card.

Anticipated Obstacles:

Staff development time to agree upon the measures to be used.

Clear rubric that parents and students can understand, value and articulate to others
