AIR NOSTRUM TAKES PART IN LEADING TOURISM FORUMS IN AN ATTEMPT TO IMPROVETHE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE SECTOR AND BOOST ITS LEADERSHIP IN THE RECOVERY

ext year a double event of vital importance for the Spanish tourismsector will be taking place. I am talking about the V Foro de Liderazgo

Turístico (V Tourism Leadership Forum) programmed to take place on theeve of the International Tourism Trade Fair, Spain’s most important tourismtrade fair and one of the world’s leading tourism events. This biannual eventis organised by Exceltur, Alliance for Tourism Excellence in Spain, whosemembers include leading tourism companies such as AIR NOSTRUM.

The V Tourism Leadership Forum will, on this occasion, includerepresentatives of the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) and the WorldTravel and Tourism Council (WTTC), an important organisation made upof the top 100 tourism international company presidents. Under the title,“Tourism Recovery Challenges and Prospects for 2010”, discussion willtake place on the major key factors and global changes expected to takeplace in the world tourism industry. The challenges and opportunities forrecovery of the Spanish tourism sector in particular will also come underdiscussion.This important event coincides with Spain’s Presidency of the EuropeanUnion during the first half of 2010, a fact that will, without a doubt, givethe V Tourism Leadership Forum an extra boost, providing it with avaluable opportunity for highlighting the importance of joining forces inorder to promote public and private sector cooperation. The aim is toreach a consensus on the best company policies and strategies forspeeding up the recovery of the world tourism industry. This forum isopen to the participation of all public and private sector representatives.As a tourism sector leader, AIR NOSTRUM has, since it began operating,

participated in numerous forum meetings, aware that the tourism industryis one of the main motors of the Spanish economy, with an importantpart to play in the recovery of the sector, in spite of the present adverseconditions.We are in an excellent position to multiply the social and economiceffects tourism has on the rest of the country’s product sectors. 1 ÁVILA: RUTA POR GREDOS

La Historia no está reñida con la aventura y el juego, si no conoce Ávila y Gredos, leproponemos una escapada llena de posibilidades. Visite en Solosancho el Castillo deVillaviciosa, el Castro de Ulaca o la Calzada Romana del Puerto del Pico. Adéntrese en lasCuevas del Águila, el Parque de Cuerdas de Guisando o el Museo de la Miel. Además deun paseo por la capital no se pierda los pueblos de Navarredonda de Gredos, Arenas deSan Pedro, Poyales del Hoyo y Guisando.

2 BURGOS: EL VALLE DEL ARLANZA-DUERO

Escaparse a Burgos es un viaje en el tiempo, y en esta ruta lo comprenderá, después deentrar en parajes como el Monasterio de Silos, el Castillo de Peñaranda de Duero o SanPedro de Arlanza. Además le proponemos ver el Museo de los dinosaurios en Salas de losInfantes, la bodega del CIAVIN de Aranda de Duero así como una ruta a caballo o relajarsepracticando golf en Lerma. Nuestro viaje discurre por la Ruta del Cid, la Ruta del Duero,los Sabinares del Arlanza y los viñedos de la Ribera del Duero.

3 LEÓN: POR LA MONTAÑA LEONESA

La montaña y los personajes de León son una gran sorpresa para los sentidos. No dejede visitar El Torreón de Lillo, ver en acción El maragato de Boñar o pararse a ver el maren el yacimiento de los corales en Matallana de Torio. Además, tiene el Rocódromo de

have never been to Avila and Gredos, we offer you a trip full of possibilities. Why notstart off with a visit to Solosancho, the Villaviciosa Castle, the Castro de Ulaca or theCalzada Romana del Puerto del Pico. Discover the Aguila caves, the Parque deCuerdas de Guisando and the Honey Museum. Whilst here, do not forget to visitNavarredonda de Gredos, Arenas de San Pedro, Poyales del Hoyo and Guisando.

2 BURGOS: ARLANZA-DUERO VALLEYA trip to Burgos provides a stimulating journey into the past. The Silos Monastery,

Peñaranda de Duero Castle and San Pedro de Arlanza should not be missed. Alsoworth while is a visit to the Dinosaur Museum in Salas de los Infantes and the BodegaCIAVIN de Aranda de Duero. You might also like to take a relaxing horse riding trip orgame of golf in Lerma whilst here. This itinerary includes the El Cid and Duero touristroutes, the Sabinares del Arlanza and the Ribera del Duero vineyards.

3 LEON: THE LEON MOUNTAIN RANGEThe mountains and character of Leon provide a surprising spectacle for many

visitors. Do not forget to visit the Torreon de Lillo or stop off to see the Maragato deBoñar in action. Also worth while looking out for is the variety of sea views from the

Vegacervera, lobos y gamos albinos en el Museo de la Fauna Salvaje de Valdehuesa,conozca el corazón de la montaña en las Cuevas de Valporquero y practique rafting y kajaken el Porma. Todo esto en el escenario natural de la reserva de Mampodre, Hoces deVegacervera y el Embalse del Porma. Para no perderse nada siga el itinerario desde León aVegacervera.

4 PALENCIA: LOS VALLES DEL ROMÁNICO

La Historia de Castilla y León puede convertirse en un cuento, en la provincia dePalencia, siguiendo hacia el norte el Canal de Castilla que le llevará al comienzo delRománico rupestre y los grandes Monasterios. La ruta parte de Frómista donde se cruza elCamino de Santiago hasta el nacimiento del Canal de Castilla. Tras visitar Aguilar deCampoo, se adentrará en el parque de Covalagua y la Cueva de los Franceses. Puebloscon sabor como Frómista, Alar del Rey, Olleros de Pisuerga, Santa María de Mave yQuintanas de Valdelucio no pueden faltar en el itinerario.

5 SALAMANCA: DEL CAMPO CHARRO A LAS ARRIBES

Partir de la mágica Salamanca hacia el oeste es adentrarse en un mundo diferente.Puede observarlo a vista de pájaro desde las torres de sus castillos como el de CiudadRodrigo, Ledesma o el conjunto de San Felices de los Gallegos. El bosque mediterráneo yla frontera le esperan, porque las aventuras están garantizadas en la Casa del Parque deSobradillo y en el vertiginoso salto de Aldeadávila. Por último, recréese paseando plácida-mente en aguas internacionales en las barcas de Vilvestre.

Finally, we would mention the Valporquero caves in the heart of the mountainswhere visitors will be able to practise rafting and kayaking in the Porma. Enjoy thenatural surroundings of the Mampodre Reservoir, Hoces de Vegacervera and PormaReservoir. Travelling from Leon to Vegacervera offers all kinds of magnificent scenery.

4 PALENCIA: THE ROMANESQUE VALLEYSThe history of Castilla y Leon becomes, in the province of Palencia, a fairy tale,

especially if you head along the Castilla Canal towards the north where you willfind marvellous examples of Romanesque rock style architecture and magnificentmonasteries. This historical route begins at Fromista, crossing the Way of St. Jamesand carrying on to the source of the Castilla Canal. Following a visit to Aguilar deCampoo, why not visit the Covalagua Park and cave known as the Cueva de losFranceses. Finally, we would mention the charming towns of Fromista, Alar del Rey,Olleros de Pisuerga, Santa Maria de Mave and Quintanas de Valdelucio amongstothers.

5 SALAMANCA: FROM CAMPO CHARRO TO LAS ARRIBESLeaving magical Salamanca and travelling towards the west will take you into a

completely different world. You can get bird’s eye views from the towers of its castlesin places such as Ciudad Rodrigo, Ledesma or San Felices de los Gallegos. The

El territorio de la provincia es sorprendente: los húmedos vallesnorteños de las Merindades, las altas cumbres de la Demanda, los cañonesdel Ebro o las fértiles vegas enmarcan villas legendarias como Frías, Oña,Covarrubias, Castrojeriz, Salas de los Infantes o Peñaranda de Duero ymonumentos universales como el claustro de Santo Domingo de Silos,poema en piedra. Los vinos de Ribera del Duero y Arlanza, la morcilla, elqueso y el cordero lechal nos ayudarán a recordar una tierra con perso-nalidad, con esencia.

6 SEGOVIA: EL DURATÓN MEDIEVAL

La ciudad de Segovia siempre merece una escapada pero muy cerca de ella existentesoros que no se puede perder. Palacios como La Granja o castillos como el de Turéganoo Pedraza le servirán de testigos de esta ruta que le propone acercarse al espacio naturalde las Hoces del Duratón. Visite la Cueva de los Enebralejos de Prádena de la Sierra ytermine en canoa por el espectacular cañón del río. En sus pueblos le impregnará un sabormedieval propio del cine paseando pausadamente por La Granja, Prádena, Pedraza,Turégano y Sepúlveda.

7 SORIA: EL URBIÓN Y EL RÍO LOBOS

Esta ruta le muestra la naturaleza de Soria partiendo del Burgo de Osma por el Cañón deRío Lobos hasta la mítica Laguna Negra, una escapada para recordar. Empezando por lacatedral del Burgo de Osma saldrá en dirección al cercano Ucero, donde se encuentra laCasa del Parque y se pueden admirar la gran cantidad de buitres que sobrevuelan el Cañóndel Río Lobos. Parada obligada es la misteriosa ermita fundada por los templarios. Si sesiente aventurero, un guía le introducirá en una cueva natural, y si no, continuará el viajehasta el Aula del Amogable donde está el único Parque de Cuerdas de Europa totalmenteaccesible. Antes de llegar a la fascinante Laguna Negra es parada obligatoria el centromicológico de Navaleno.

6 SEGOVIA: THE MEDIEVAL DURATONThe city of Segovia is always worth a visit. Close to the city, you will find a wide

variety of places worth visiting. These include palaces such as the Granja Palace orcastles such as the Turegano and Pedraza castles to be found along the magnificentHoces del Duraton nature trail. Do not miss a visit to the cave in Enebralejos dePradena de la Sierra or a canoe trip along the spectacular river canyon. Its towns andvillages provide a unique medieval atmosphere. Worth a special mention are the townsof La Granja, Pradena, Pedraza, Turegano and Sepulveda.

7 SORIA: THE URBION AND RIO LOBOSThis route offers a wide variety of Soria’s beautiful natural surroundings. We would

suggest you start off at Burgo de Osma on the Rio Lobos Canyon and continue up tothe mythical Laguna Negra (Black Lake) for an unforgettable experience. From theCathedral of Burgo de Osma, make your way to Ucero where you will find the Casa delParque, home of numerous vultures often found circling the previously-mentioned RioLobos Canyon. Do not miss a visit to the mysterious hermitage founded by theTemplar Knights whilst here. A guided tour of the nearby cave is also worthwhile forthe more adventurous. If not, carry on directly to the Aula del Amogable, home ofthe unique Parque de Cuerdas de Europa, and on to the fascinating Laguna Negra.You might like to visit the Centro Micologico (Mycological Centre) of Navaleno alongthe way.

8 VALLADOLID: LOS MONTES TOROZOS

Esta escapada por los Montes Torozos le cambiará la imagen que tenemos de la meseta.Saldrá de Valladolid hacia el cercano Mucientes y tras visitar el museo Paco Díez y vivir lamúsica tradicional, se asombrará con la bodega museo. Acudirá a la única Villa del Librode España, en la amurallada Urueña. Hará una parada en la Santa Espina, para visitar elmonasterio y la laguna. Continuará el viaje pasando por Torrelobatón con parada en elCastillo de los Comuneros. Muy cerca, en San Pelayo se puede disfrutar de una cena.

9 ZAMORA: SAYAGO Y LOS ARRIBES DEL DUERO

Además de frontera del Duero, Zamora es un gran museo etnográfico al aire libre. Enesta ruta descubrirá la historia viva en el Castillo de Fermoselle, después podrá dar unpaseo virtual en su Casa del Parque, o cruzar la frontera en barco. En el camino de vueltaSayago o cualquiera de sus pueblos le sorprenderá, así como el embalse de Villalcampodonde podrá alquilar piraguas y descansar. Antes de entrar en Zamora, pare en Pereruelapara ver los hornos y la cerámica tradicional.

8 VALLADOLID: THE TOROZOS MOUNTAINSThis route through the Torozos Mountains will most likely change the image you

have of the regional plateau. Departing from Valladolid towards nearby Mucientes,do not miss a visit to the Paco Diez Museum, the local traditional music andinteresting Bodega Museum. Also worth visiting is the unique Villa del Libro deEspaña (Book Town) housed in the walled town of Urueña and Santa Espina and itsmonastery and lake. From here continue on to Torrelobaton, visiting the ComunerosCastle along the way. While you are here, why not stop off at San Pelayo for dinner.

9 ZAMORA: SAYAGO AND LOS ARRIBES DEL DUEROZamora not only stands out as the Duero frontier, but also as a magnificent open-

air ethnographic museum. Enjoy a trip into history at the Fermoselle Castle, after avirtual stroll at the Casa del Parque, or a boat trip across the frontier. On your wayback, Sayago and its picturesque towns and villages will provide you with somesurprises as will the Villalcampo Reservoir where you will be able to rent a canoe orjust rest for a while. Before returning to Zamora, why not stop off at Pereuela for atour of its ceramic kilns and look at its traditional pottery.

However, one ofhis most resounding successes is, without a doubt, his ability, in spiteof his overwhelming success, to have maintained the friendly characterthat has attracted the admiration of tennis fans from all over the world.

Uno de sus mayores triunfos fuera de las canchas es haberlogrado, pese al abrumador éxito cosechado, mantener la sencillez y cercaníacon la gente, hecho que hace que se haya ganado la admiración y el cariño detodo aficionado a este deporte.

encanta el tenis, me gusta mucho competir, disfruto haciéndolo en cualquier cosa quehago y siempre trabajé duro tanto en los partidos como en los entrenamientos. He dichoalguna vez que incluso me gusta sufrir en ocasiones porque la victoria tiene un saborespecial. Claro que de todas maneras me gusta más ganar sin sufrir tanto... Desde el Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián, el encuentro de mayor reper-cusión mediática, hasta las regatas de Traineras, el de mayor sabor tradicional, hemos participado enel Kilometroak, el Atom by atom, la Semana de la lenguas y en el Rally fotográfico, en el que cientosde participantes nos han mostrado lo mejor de Donostia-San Sebastián, lo que desean enseñar alresto de Europa.

ACCESSTaxi. T1 has two taxi ranks. Besides the main rank, there is another next to the

IBERIA EN LA T1Desde el 9 de septiembre, 336 vuelos diarios de Iberia y sus asociadas que unen Barcelona

con 43 destinos nacionales e internacionales, salen y aterrizan en la nueva T1 del aeropuerto deEl Prat, entre ellos el Puente Aéreo, que cuenta con espacios exclusivos para facilitar la agilidadde este servicio.

Recomendación de aparcamiento: si factura equipaje diríjase al segundo bloque deaparcamiento (módulos D, E y F), que es el más próximo a la zona de facturación de vuelos AIRNOSTRUM.

En caso de no facturar equipaje diríjase al primer bloque de aparcamiento (módulos A, B yC), el más próximo a la zona de vuelos regionales. Si no dispone de tarjeta de embarque podráobtenerla en la máquina de autofacturación situada en el pasillo de acceso al control deseguridad de vuelos regionales.

Salidas: en la planta 3 de la nueva Terminal se encuentra el vestíbulo de facturación y el filtrode seguridad de todos los vuelos de Iberia (excepto el Puente Aéreo, que se encuentra en eldique norte Planta 1). Los mostradores de facturación de Iberia y sus asociadas están en losmódulos 300 y 400, y cuentan con 28 posiciones cada uno, además de 50 máquinas de auto-facturación repartidas por todo el vestíbulo. Junto a los mostradores de facturación se encuentranlas oficinas de venta de billetes y atención al cliente.

Salas VIP: los clientes de Iberia que viajen en Business o sean titulares de las tarjetas IberiaPlus Oro o Platino tendrán a su disposición las salas VIP del aeropuerto. Éstas se encuentran enla Planta 2, y en el corredor Barcelona-Madrid (Puente Aéreo).

Embarques: la Terminal cuenta con cinco zonas de embarque: en la primera planta seencuentran las puertas A y B, destinadas a vuelos nacionales y Schengen; las puertas C estándestinadas a vuelos regionales por donde se embarcan los vuelos de Iberia Regional AIRNOSTRUM; por último, en la tercera planta están las puertas D y E, para los vuelos no Schengen.

Llegadas: una vez desembarcados del avión, los clientes deben dirigirse a la zona de Saliday Recogida de Equipaje, que es común para todos los vuelos excepto Puente Aéreo. Desde allíse accede, a través de un espacio conocido como La Plaza, al transporte público y privado(aparcamiento).

Parking VIP y Limusina: Iberia seguirá poniendo a disposición de sus clientes el servicioParking VIP y limusina.

VUELOS REGIONALESUna de las múltiples ventajas de la nueva Terminal 1 es el acceso directo a la zona

de aviación regional disponible para aquellos pasajeros que no facturen equipaje ydispongan de su tarjeta de embarque. Ésta se obtendrá a través de la pagina web de Iberia(www.iberia.com) o mediante las maquinas de autofacturación situadas en el aeropuerto.Otras características destacables de la zona de vuelos regionales son:

• Acceso directo desde el parking (el módulo A es el más cercano).• Máquina de autofacturación en el pasillo de acceso al control de seguridad de

vuelos regionales. • Control de seguridad propio con menor afluencia pasajeros.• Zona de embarque exclusiva junto al filtro de seguridad.

Local train. At first, the train service will operate via the railway station at T2, wherea bus service departs for T1 after the arrival of each train. The journey between the twoterminals takes just 10 minutes.

Car. To reach T1 from Barcelona, take the C31 or C32 and then branch off along theB22.

Parking. Barcelona Airport’s T1 has two public car parks with more than 12,000spaces between them. One consists of two nine-storey buildings (9,400 spaces) plus aground-level car park (1,600 spaces) with direct access to the Terminal. The other is along-stay car park (1,059 spaces) located two kilometres from T1 and connected withit by a bus shuttle service.

IBERIA AT T1As of 9 September, El Prat Airport’s new T1 will be used for the departures and

arrivals of 336 flights a day operated by Iberia and its associates between Barcelonaand 43 domestic and international destinations. These include the Madrid-BarcelonaAir Shuttle, which has an area to itself to ensure smooth running of the service.

Parking Recommendations: The nearest parking area to the AIR NOSTRUM check-in desks for passengers with luggage are bays D, E and F.

Passengers without luggage are advised to use parking bays A, B and C situatedclose to the regional flight departure area. Boarding passes can be obtained from theautomatic boarding pass machine situated in the corridor close to the regional flightsecurity control area.

Departures. The check-in hall and security controls for all Iberia flights are located onthe 3rd floor of the new Terminal (except for the BCN-MAD Shuttle, whose facilities arelocated in North Dock -1st floor-). The check-in desks for Iberia and its associates arein Modules 300 and 400, which contain 28 counters each. There are also 50 self-operated check-in machines distributed around the hall. The ticket sales and customerattention offices are located next to the check-in desks.

VIP lounges. Iberia passengers flying in Business Class and holders of the IberiaPlus Gold or Platinum cards are entitled to use the airport’s VIP lounges, located onthe 2nd floor and n the Barcelona-Madrid corridor (Air Shuttle).

Boarding: The T1 has five boarding areas. On the first floor, passengers will findboarding areas A and B providing access to national and Schengen flights and boardingarea C providing access to regional flights including Iberia Regional AIR NOSTRUMflights. Boarding areas D and E are situated on the third floor and provide access tonon-Schengen flights.

Arrivals. After deplaning, passengers should make their way to the Exit and BaggageReclaim area, which is the same for all flights except the Air Shuttle. From there, theycross an area designated La Plaza to reach the public transport facilities and car parks.

VIP Parking and Limousines. Iberia continues to offer its customers the VIP parkingand limousine service.

REGIONAL FLIGHTSOne of the main advantages of the new Terminal 1 is the direct access area to

the regional aviation flights for boarding pass passengers without luggage.Boarding passes may be obtained on the Iberia web page (www.iberia.com) or atthe automatic boarding pass machines located in the airport. Other outstandingcharacteristics of the regional flight area are:

• Direct access to the public parking area (parking bay A being the nearest).• Automatic boarding pass machine situated in the entrance to the regional

flight control access area.• A separate regional fight control access area with reduced passenger

affluence.• Exclusive boarding area next to security filter.

These products helpthe user to get to know and move about the islands with ease and can alsobe used as a basis for territorial planning, management and organisation.

El Govern de les Illes Balears, a través de la empresa pública Serveis d’InformacióTerritorial de les Illes Balears (SITIBSA), produce y distribuye fotografía aérea,cartografía y ortofotografía de gran calidad siguiendo una estrategia de produccióny actualización continua. l Govern de les Illes Balears durante los últimos años, ha dado un gran impulso a lacreación y actualización de la cartografía básica de Balears. Uno de los motivos princi-

pales es que los avances tecnológicos en materia de fotografía aérea, cartografía y ortofo-tografía son muy grandes y actualmente se pueden realizar mapas de mejor calidad y demayor precisión.

Con estos productos cartográficos, los usuarios podrán conocer exactamente la realidaddel territorio, determinar su ubicación exacta tanto en áreas urbanas como en áreasnaturales y guiarse para circular por las diversas infraestructuras de transporte y llegar a lacalle, playa, pueblo o al edificio histórico que buscan.

Además, este tipo de información geográfica, constituye una representación espacial ytemporal de las condiciones y estado del territorio que sirve como base para la adminis-tración pública, estudios de arquitectura, ingenierías, administraciones de fincas, abogacía,

Islands. One of the main reasons is that the important technological advances inthe field of aerial photography, cartography and orthophotography mean that todaybetter quality, more accurate maps can be produced.

With these cartographic products, users can see the exact situation of theterritory, determine their precise location in both urban and rural areas and usethem as a guide for travelling the different transport infrastructures to reach thestreet, beach, town or historical building they are looking for.

Moreover, this type of geographical information constitutes a spatial and temporalrepresentation of the conditions and the state of the territory that serves as a basisfor public administration, architectural and engineering studies, real estate agents,

lawyers, environmental consultancies, etc. These bodies use it to carry out territorialand urban planning, municipal administration, natural resource management andinfrastructure creation and maintenance, among other applications.

SITIBSA (www.sitibsa.com), a public company attached to the Department ofMobility and Territorial Planning, is responsible for the cartography productionand distribution.

SITIBSA’s strategy is one of continuous production and up-dating and it has atits disposal photographic series on different scales dating back to 1956, urbanand rural scale cartographic series dating back to 1989 and orthophotographysince 2002. It also publishes derivative products such as land use maps.

By using the cartographic viewer in the portal www.ideib.cat, it is possible tointeractively access the various cartographic products issued by the regionalgovernment and other administrations that use spatial data infrastructure forpublishing their cartography.

The Balearic Islands Government cartographic products, photographs and mapscan be purchased at the SITIBSA offices (Av. Alexandre Rosselló 13a-2b de Palma- Tel. 971 78 42 10).

SITIBSA clients also have the possibility of acquiring personalised cartographyadapted to their particular needs. Examples of this are a tourist map of the islands,maps of the “Agrorutes del bon gust” (Good Taste Agro-routes), etc. in which thecartography is modified to highlight itineraries or particular elements.

With the aim of improving the tasks of territorial management, the companyoffers a Geographical Information System (GIS) consultancy and softwaredevelopment service. By using these programs, SITIBSA aims to promote the useof these powerful tools to handle and undertake analyses of cartographic products.For some years now, SITIBSA has been introducing GIS systems into the differentgovernment and other administrative departments that require them. For manyof them, it has created specific programs in which the GIS has been personalisedin order to facilitate administrative tasks related to localisation. An example ofthis are the programs developed to facilitate water resource management, urbanadministration, the localisation of the Balearic flora and fauna populations andapplications for carrying out health protection tasks.

The Valencia Arts and Science Centre, commissioned by the Valencia Regional Government, comprises anextraordinary group of modern buildings. It was built to promote culture and science through the projectionof films in the Hemisferic, interactive exhibitions in the Principe Felipe Science Museum and bio-educationalexhibitions in the Oceanografic Aquarium in such a way that the content of each building is complementary,each providing a series of didactic activities designed to provoke curiosity in the public.

La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias es un gran complejo impulsado por la Generalitat Valencianaque tiene como principal objetivo la divulgación cultural y científica a través de los proyecciones delHemisfèric, las exposiciones interactivas en el Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe y las exhibi-ciones bioeducativas del Oceanogràfic, una oferta interrelacionada de manera que los contenidos decada uno de sus edificios se complementan ofreciendo al público una oferta didáctica y completa quesuscita su interés y curiosidad.

A través de la pantalla cóncava de 900 metros cuadrados, el Hemisfèric ofrece dos tiposde proyecciones: el cine en gran formato IMAX Dome y proyecciones digitales. Descubrirla supervivencia en el ecosistema marino y las relaciones entre los depredadores y suspresas son algunas de las experiencias que ofrece “Wild Ocean” que cuenta la historia decómo un gran número de seres vivos acude cada año en busca de alimento a los océanosde Sudáfrica. El planetario “Evolución” es otra de las novedades que presenta el Hemisfèric,un espectáculo audiovisual que reproduce escenarios como la cubierta del Beagle, losprimeros momentos de la vida en la Tierra o el universo más lejano.

Estas producciones se unen a “Egipto. Secretos de las Momias” un viaje por las tumbasde los grandes faraones en el que el público podrá explorar la historia de esta civilizacióna través de los secretos que guardan las momias, “Dinosaurios Alive!” donde el públicopuede observar el trabajo de prestigiosos paleontólogos y compartir los descubrimientosde nuevos fósiles de dinosaurios o “El Misterio del Nilo” que relata el primer descensocompleto al Nilo Azul a través de la expedición que recorre más de 5.200 kilómetros desdelas fuentes del río en Etiopía hasta el Mediterráneo.

Aprender ciencia mientras se asiste a experimentos en directo o se interactúa concientos de módulos de diferentes exposiciones, son las principales actividades que puedenrealizarse en el Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe. Cocinar con nitrógeno líquido,endurecer naranjas, observar llamas de velas que bailan al compás del sonido, programarun robot y completar una misión a Marte en los talleres y demostraciones de “La Ciencia aEscena” que ahora presenta como novedad “Al rojo Vivo”, que muestra el concepto detemperatura e imagen infrarroja y donde el participante podrá observar cómo viaja el calorde un objeto a otro, la diferencia entre los animales de sangre fría y caliente o ver suimagen en el espectro infrarrojo.

En el Año Internacional de la Astronomía el Museo ha reunido en la exposición “LaAventura Espacial” divertidos módulos interactivos e imágenes en tres dimensiones dondeconocer desde cómo funciona un agujero negro, comprender cómo se producen las fasesde la Luna, contemplar los diferentes colores del espacio, hacer despegar un cohete osaber más sobre nuestra estrella más cercana: el Sol.

NOCHE EN EL MUSEOTambién es posible conocer numerosos secretos como cuánta agua forma parte del

cuerpo, cuáles son nuestros componentes químicos, la velocidad de un estornudo o dóndeva la sangre cuando sale del corazón en el “Bosque de Cromosomas” donde se repre-sentan los 23 pares de cromosomas. A través de los diferentes módulos de la muestra“CVIDA. Cuidamos tu calidad de vida” el visitante conoce aspectos relacionados con subienestar, qué clase de calzado se adapta mejor a sus pies, cuál es su mapa visual osu nivel de equilibrio, con todos estos datos obtendrá un informe personalizado que leayudará a mejorar su “calidad de vida”.

Ciencia y Ficción se combinan de forma sorprendente en la exposición “MarvelSuperhéroes”. Tras los poderes de estos personajes encontramos la posibilidad de conoceralgún principio científico relacionado con sus capacidades sobrenaturales: de la mano deLa Antorcha Humana podemos entender en qué consiste la termorregulación y los infra-rrojos o conocer si hay alguna base científica en la transformación del Increíble Hulk o enlas capacidades sensoriales de Daredevil. Otras propuestas que presenta la exposiciónson: la biomecánica y las prótesis, a través del Doctor Octopus; la genética y la evolución,

Thenew “Sleeping with the Sharks” Programme is a sleepover event in the Oceanos Tower,while the “Animalia Passport” Programme comprises a guided tour of the dolphinand sea lion installations where visitors will be given a description of the animal’s maincharacteristics, a look at where they eat and a lesson on how they are fed.

The “Trainer for a Day” Programme invites visitors to spend an entire day withthe dolphins, Beluga whales, walruses, seals, sea turtles and sea lions, a uniqueopportunity to observe the daily work of the Oceanografic’s team of professionals.As previously mentioned, visitors will be able, this season, to visit technical areaspreviously off limits. This includes a tour of the inner areas including the veterinaryarea, the sea turtle recovery area, the kitchens used to prepare the animals’ food,the shark food gangways and the quarantine area amongst others.

Declarado Parque Natural en 2002 ocupa gran parte de la ComarcaFuentes del Narcea (Cangas del Narcea, Degaña e Ibias).

Declared a nature park in 2002, it covers a large part of theFuentes del Narcea (Cangas del Narcea, Degaña e Ibias) region.

l agua tiene un especial protagonismo en el Parque Natural; en sus más de 47.500hectáreas incluye el nacimiento y cuenca alta del río Narcea, el río Muniellos y la

cabecera del río Ibias, que aunque nace en tierras degañesas, recorre gran parte del terri-torio ibiense. A su extensa red hidrográfica se unen lagunas y turberas como las de laReserva Natural Parcial del Cueto de Arbas que acogen una rica vida animal y vegetal. Lanaturaleza aquí ofrece tesoros ocultos. Rarezas como el nenúfar que se encuentra en lasturberas de Reconco, el único lugar de la península donde crece o el ranúnculo deMuniellos, especie endémica que nace en los pedregales.

Los habitantes del Parque Natural ocuparon tradicionalmente las laderas más soleadasy fértiles vegas, utilizándolas como praos de siega y tierras de labor; el respeto por elentorno no estuvo reñido con un inteligente uso de los recursos naturales disponibles.Abundan algunos de los elementos que definen el espacio agrario tradicional: hórreos ypaneras ocupan un privilegiado espacio en cada pueblo; en las brañas, las construccionesde piedra destinadas al ganado, hablan de la trashumancia a los pastos más altos duranteel verano; molinos de agua y mazos de ferrería son una muestra de aprovechamiento delagua en la zona; los cortinos y talameiros son construcciones destinadas a la protecciónde las colmenas de miel del ataque del oso. El espíritu del parque natural es mantener ypotenciar la vida rural como fuente de riqueza principal de la comarca, y sacar partido desus múltiples derivaciones.

Su escaso poblamiento y su abrupto relieve le ha permitido conservar en unmagnífico estado grandes masas forestales autóctonas. Pero son sin duda loshayedos en el Monte de Hermo (cuenca alta del Narcea) y los robledales en laReserva Natural Integral Muniellos, los que destacan tanto por extensión comopor su excelente estado de conservación. Un valor natural fundamentado en sucalidad de refugio osero, en la completa representación de las comunidadesfaunísticas de montaña como el urogallo, el lobo o el jabalí y en la existencia decomunidades y especies vegetales singulares que le hacen merecedor de sercatalogado como Reserva de la Biosfera.

The low population and rugged geography of this area have played animportant role in the excellent conservation of its large autochthonous forestareas. Amongst its most outstanding areas, we would mention the beautifullyconserved beech groves in Mount Hermo (upper basin of the Narcea) and theoak groves in the Muniellos Integral Nature Reserve. These marvellous forestareas provide an excellent natural habitat for the beautiful brown bear as wellas a large number of other mountain animal species such as the capercaillie,wolf and wild boar, together with an impressive variety of unique vegetation,aspects that have led to the area being catalogued as a Biosphere Reserve.

ts water resources are, without a doubt, one of the area’s most important naturalassets. Its 47,500 hectare surface area houses the source and upper basin of

the Narcea River, the River Muniellos and the beginning of the River Ibias which,although its source can be found in the Degaña area, it actually covers a large partof the Ibias territory. Other water resources include a variety of lakes and peat bogssuch as those to be found in the Parcial del Cueto de Arbas Nature Park, home of awide variety of plant and animal life. Nature offers a number of hidden treasures here.Rarities such as the water lily in the Reconco peat bogs, the only place on theSpanish peninsula it can be found, and the Common Water-crowfoot of Muniellos,an endemic rock plant species.

The inhabitants of this beautiful nature reserve traditionally occupy the sunny partof the mountainside and the fertile lowlands, which they generally use as farminglands and where respect for their surroundings has led to the intelligent use of thenatural resources available. Here visitors will find a number of elements representingthe local traditional agricultural activities with ‘horreo’ and ‘panera’ constructionsoccupying a privileged place in each village. In the highlands, stand small stonebuildings used by the herdsmen during the seasonal migration of livestock and avariety of water mills. Finally, we would mention the ‘cortinos’ and ‘talameiros’ usedto protect bee hives from the attack of local brown bears. The aim of this magnificent

ENCUENTRO DE EXCELTUR CON TALEB RIFAIRepresentantes de Exceltur se han reunido recientemente en Madrid con

el secretario general de la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT), TalebRifai, con quien han tenido ocasión de abordar los principales temas quese expondrán a debate en V Foro de Liderazgo Turístico en España que estáprevisto se celebre en Madrid. Bajo el título “Retos y perspectivas de recupe-ración turística para 2010”, y con el objetivo de convertirlo en el primer granforo de reflexión de alcance mundial del año, que avance desde Madrid unasprimeras tendencias para el conjunto del 2010, el foro debatirá las princi-pales claves y cambios globales que más incidirán el próximo año sobre elturismo a nivel internacional.

Con motivo del quinto aniversario de los foros de liderazgo turístico queviene celebrando Exceltur cada 2 años, su próxima edición, víspera de FITUR2010 y fruto del reciente acuerdo entre la OMT Exceltur Alianza para laExcelencia Turística, será coorganizada por ambas instituciones con la parti-cipación especial del Consejo Mundial de Viajes y Turismo (WTTC), entidadanáloga al lobby español, que integran los presidentes de las 100 empresasturísticas líderes del mundo.

EXCELTUR MEETING WITH MR. TALEB RIFAIRepresentatives of the Exceltur Organisation recently had a meeting in

Madrid with the General Secretary of the World Tourism Organisation(WTO), Mr. Taleb Rifai, during which they discussed the agenda of theV Foro de Liderazgo Turístico (V Tourism Leadership Forum) in Spain,to take place next year in Madrid. Under the title, “Tourism RecoveryChallenges and Prospects for 2010”, this important event aims to becomethe first great international forum of the year, responsible for forecastinginternational tourism trends for 2010 and discussing the major key factorsand global changes expected to affect international tourism next year.

To mark the fifth anniversary of the Tourism Leadership Forum, heldby Exceltur every two years, its coming edition, programmed to take placeon the eve of the FITUR 2010 (International Tourism Trade Fair) event,and thanks to an agreement between the World Tourism Organisation andthe Exceltur Alliance for Tourism Excellence, both organisations willco-organise, with the special collaboration of the World Travel & TourismCouncil (WTTC), an entity similar to Exceltur made up of the presidentsof the top 100 international tourism companies, this important event.
