Okay, you have made sure that all the information is clear and everything looks good. What’s next?

You’re probably saying: INVITE INVITE INVITE!

Wrong.

Page 7: Aiesec in malta facebook event guidelines

- Have you POSTED any informative posts about the event? - Is there existing engagement that will encourage people not in AIESEC to also take part? - Are you showcasing the speakers of the event?

Page 8: Aiesec in malta facebook event guidelines

Simply put, engagement is when people like/comment/share your content.

Page 9: Aiesec in malta facebook event guidelines

Keep in mind that almost all of the targeted people you are inviting have not been in AIESEC, so they will not predict or be excited about your event just because it has been launched by AIESEC Malta.

So, how do you impress them and get them to engage with you?

Make use of all your partners. You have Microsoft present? Post a picture of the Microsoft representative, with Microsoft’s logo and get a quote from them talking about how they’re excited about the event. (An alternative; have them speak in a very short video about the same thing).

Are you creating an event that offers work experiences that make you gain skills? Post an article by a known media site that talks about unemployment rising because of lack of skills.

Page 10: Aiesec in malta facebook event guidelines

Post a question (in form of facebook question or a picture with a question) that is relevant to your event, so if your event is about work opportunities abroad do some research and ask something like; Would you agree that PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES provide the most support in achieving your fullest potential? (this is from a YOUTHSPEAK result). This will help push people to engage with you, comment and hopefully start a conversation.

On social media, engagement is key.

Keep this in mind; people are scared to share their opinions if no one led by example. So, what do you do?

Once you have created the content on the event page, push existing AIESEC members to like and comment on the posts. Have them say interesting points about the post, raise arguments, tag their friends for their opinions, etc etc. Why? Because this breaks the ice. New people coming to the event page for the first time will not feel awkward about being the first or second person to comment, or the first person to raise a certain obvious argument. This is a strategy that is wildly used by businesses.

On top, you could see the number of people reached, whether It is through invites, boosts, etc. Then you could see the number of people who viewed the event Page. Last but definitely not least, you could see the number of people who engaged (so, anyone who has liked/commented/shared/ pressed going…etc).

Now, you can invite. Invite your target audience. Does your sister have more friends that fall under your target audience? Have her invite her friends!

Check with organisations, institutes or bodies that already have contact with your target audience and ask them to post your event – with a description that you provide

Now that you have invited, ENSURE consistency - continue posting regularly. Post once every 2 days minimum, and again, encourage AIESECers to engage so that the non-AIESECers would feel confident about engaging with the content as well. [the timeframe depends on how many days are left till the actual event]

Give your posts a human touch – people involved, their insights

What topics are trending on Facebook….can you use that for your Facebook posts on the event?

Page 14: Aiesec in malta facebook event guidelines

Post different types of content and posts – all keeping the objective of the event clear

Feather Content – inspiring quotes or statements, intriguing questions [image format] – light, easy to engage content

Event Teasers – speakers, photos of the Organising committee, short videos

Set a clear deadline for application – this creates hype and urgency for people to apply – Daily Countdowns also help in the last week for hype

Make sure that the application form/link is easily found

Now that you have invited all the people you and your team could invite, have engaging posts that exist, you can look into BOOSTING your event.

Boosting your event is basically paying for your event to be

seen by more people who have not yet come across it.

This has a major benefit, as you can really go into many details when it comes to your target audience; their age, location, interests, activities, the amount of money they spend on facebook (yes, I know, creepy.) So this can really help you reach your ideal audience.

Page 16: Aiesec in malta facebook event guidelines

Make sure that the description of your event is clear and targeted to non-aiesecers (unless the event is for them).

Do not start inviting people before you have engaging posts that already exist.

Showcase any speakers you have that come from a well-known partner/company (for example: BOV, Microsoft) because people trust these companies and they would want to have a personal connection with them.

Engagement is key. Spark engagement. The more people like and comment, the more you will have the opportunity to win them as loyal customers, and the more your content is shown to these people.

If you think that you have not reached enough people organically, pay for your event to be advertised by boosting it.

HAVE A CLEAR CALL TO ACTION
