Focus of AdvisoryFocus of Advisory

The main focus of the Advisory Program ispersonalization for all students.

Research has shown student achievement is

enhanced when students make a personalconnection to his or her school.

Students meet with their advisory teacher, schoolcounselors and specialists who visit the advisories

to assist students in career, academic, andpersonal/social domains and in civicresponsibility.

Students learn to monitor their own progress in

meeting the A-G requirements.

Lincoln Highs School’s Advisory will follow a prescribed curriculum relevant toeach grade level with the intent to promote a college going culture and life-long learners. Advisory will build upon each other.

Advisory will also be used when giving standardized and school-wide tests.

Teachers who do not have a permanent classroom, eg: PE, Traveling Teachers, Support Staff, will be assigned as needed to support other teachersin their efforts.

Each classroom teacher will be assigned an Advisory and will stay with themfor their entire high school experience. This will allow the building of strongrelationships and enhancing the personalization for student academic andbehavioral success to increase graduation and reduce the dropout rate.

(EAP)(EAP)  The Early Assessment Program will determine if your English

and math skills are on target to succeed at the CaliforniaState University (CSU).

Many students need to take the entry level mathematics(ELM) Exam and the English Placement Test (EPT) to placeout of remediation courses (noncredit).

California is the ONLY state that offers this FREE college-readiness assessment test.

During the CST, 11th grade students will answer 15 extraquestions in math and 15 in English. The English portion of the test also includes an essay.
