What do good readers do?-ask a teacher-try to sound it out-try to spell it-read out loud-ask an adult for help-ask a friend/ help a friend- read with a buddy-use resources like the dictionary-Use the pictures to help you know what is going on-Use punctuation to help you-Use your finger to help you follow along- Slow down- or reread-Pick a book on your level-Choose a book that interests you-read the questions before you read the story so you know what to look for-Make a prediction-read ahead and come back to it (use context clues) -Break a long word into smaller parts: prefixes, suffixes, and root words-read in your mind-reread books for practice-stop and think what is going on in the story
