About this coursePediatric care is changing and improving all the time, and it can be difficult for doctors, nurses and others to stay on top of newest practices, treatments and approaches. Professionals are challenged to stay current on the innovations and advances that can lead to better outcomes and improve the quality of care for children. What’s more, it can be hard to find time to truly explore important issues such as medical ethics, office practice, medical homes and well care.

This course addresses these challenges. Presenting a wide range of information and thought on advances in pediatric health care, this course will:

• Explore common issues seen by pediatricians, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals during their daily practice

• Provide the enhanced knowledge and updated skills clinicians need to better care for patients with common pediatric problems

- Gain a deeper understanding of practices concerning pain relief in children

- Explore new ideas and controversies surrounding issues such as pharmacogenomics and office practice, influenza and vaccination and the diagnosis and management of neonatal hypertension

- Attend workshops on topics such as office practice, well- child care, hospice principles and end-of-life care and malpractice

ACGME CompetenciesThis course is designed to meet one or more of the following Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competencies: patient care, medical knowledge, Interpersonal Communication, Systems-Based Care, Practice-Based Learning & Improvement and Professionalism.

AccreditationThe Harvard Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to providing continuing medical education for physicians.

The Harvard Medical School designates this live activity for the maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
