1.0 INTRODUCTION

INERGEN®

is a new product in the fire fighting field.

The idea was developed inside our group to safeguard human life and ambient assuring efficiency in fire fighting prompt extinction. The INERGEN

® concept, although simple, was born after many years of a careful study of

environmental problems. In fact after the discovery of the hole in the ozone layer in the 1985, it was established that compounds containing clolorine and bromine, as well as Halon gases, are responsible of ozone depletion. According to above, on 28

th December 1993 the Italian Law n. 549 was issued and starting from

1st Jan. 1994 it was forbidden the production, the import/exportat and the storage of halogenated

hydrocarbons (Halons). 1.1 EXTINCTION TYPOLOGY

INERGEN® extinguishes by diluting the oxygen concentration in the air.

INERGEN

® extinguishes using only Nitrogen, Argon and Carbon Dioxide, natural components of

the air that we breathe, for this reason there is no damage for people, ambient and delicate equipments or materials. INERGEN

® ensures that the brain receives as much oxygen as in normal air, while maintaining an

extinguishing (environment) status. Instead the small quantity of carbon dioxide in INERGEN

® raises the level of Carbon Dioxide in the

protected volume stimulating the body to breath more deeply, dilates the blood vessels in the brain and assists the transfer of oxigen to the tissues.

1.2 INERGEN FEATURES * Safe for people * no environmental impact * no damage on equipments or materials * no decomposition compounds * do not take place in combustion * high holding time * non thermic shock * no risk of eletrostatics changes * no reduction in visibility * breatheable gas with no colour and odour * made of natural gas * always available

* specific volume 1,42 kg / m3 (air 1,29 kg / m

1.3 TOTAL FLOODING SYSTEM

The INERGEN®

System is designed to be a total flooding system plus extended discharge The system consists in high pressure vertical cylinders complete with hand wheel Valves, Electric Actuators Automan II C, pneumatic connections, discharge and pneumatic actuation pipes. The cylinders and a big part of components are installed inside a skid for each system as f ollowing reported: - System TRAIN “C-235-001A”– Job 1800055: N. 1 SKID - System TRAIN “C-235-001B”– Job 1800056: N. 1 SKID - System TRAIN “C-231-001A”– Job 1800057: N. 1 SKID - System TRAIN “C-231-001B”– Job 1800058: N. 1 SKID Dimension for each Skid 2600 mm x 830 mm x 2350h mm

The zone above indicated is protected by No. 1 Skid complete of quick discharge battery (4 Cylinders) and extended discharge battery (4 Cylinders). The cylinder batteries are actuated by no. 2 Automan IIC Releasing Device, each complete of solenoid valve, nitrogen cartridge, manual push button and located at inside the skid. Each Automan IIC Releasing Device active the quick and extended battery.

The fire fighting systems pilot cylinders are equipped with manual actuators designed to operate the battery of the protected area. Each cylinder, is provided with pressure gauge for check the pressure. All the electric devices are connected to the junction boxes located external the cabinet.

System is operated either by means of a Fire Control Panel (supplied by Customer) or manually with a proper mechanical manual push button located in Automan IIC Releasing Device The sequence of actuation has been defined by Customer. The INERGEN

® is discharged in the protected area by means of a manifold and through

high pressure pipe work and nozzles. The pressure reducer will limit the pressure inside pipes downstream a value below 69 bar max. INERGEN

® is a gas and when discharged in the protected area check that all doors and

dampers are closed; and the activation system must be in operation except when in maintenance condition. To release the overpressure during discharge, adequate venting will be provided with overpressure dampers installed in the protected area according to design documents.

Commessa/Job: 1B749 Id.Tipol. : SHMA4001 Rev. : 0 Fg./Sh. : 5 di/of 14

The skids are installed near the protected zone. Skids will be interconnected by means cut-off valve necessary to select the batteries in case of event or maintenance on the batteries. Cut-off valves are provided with proper limit switches to check every time the correct status of valves .

3.0 SYSTEM RESET (AFTER A FIRE)

a) Reset the detection system and check if any alarm is still in progress; b) Close all CUT OFF VALVES located inside of skid

c) Verify if the pneumatic line is completely vented, slowly unscrewing the

discharge and pneumatic hoses (This operation must be carried out carefully)

d) Disconnect the discharge hoses, pneumatic/actuating hoses; e) Close the hand wheel valve installed on the cylinders;

f) Disconnect the Nitrogen Cartridge from Automan IIC Releasing Device

g) Disconnect and remove the empty cylinders from the skid;

h) Send the cylinders devices to ADT Fire & Security Italia Service,

for cylinders refilling and replacement cartridge

i) After refill cylinders, install them to their supports and connect hose/connection fittings;

j) Connect hoses/connection fittings from cylinder to distribution pipe;

k) Reset the Local Manual Actuator and install the safety pin

l) Reset the Automan IIC Releasing Device

m) Replace the Nitrogen Cartdrige from Automan IIC Releasing Device

n) Reset the pressure transmitter;

o) Replace the safety pin on the push button of AUTOMAN IIC Releasing Device p) Open all CUT OFF VALVES located inside of skid

(ATTENTION) : This operation has to be performed only by ADT Fire & Security Italia Service personnel or by authorized technicians.
