What better way to end this half term’s topic on ‘The Naughty Bus’ then to have a playbus come onto the playground for a two hour party? The reception children loved every minute of the surprise and their faces were an absolute picture when it came beeping on to the playground.

Page 4 – School news The name’s Hamlyn, Graham Hamlyn

On Wednesday lunchtime one of the parents from reception brought a test car in from work for the children to see. William’s dad works for Jaguar Landrover and thought the children (and staff!) might like to see a brand new Aston Martin. Those interested got to sit in the convertible and sound the horn and Mr Hamlyn kindly let us hear the engine rev which was quite a loud experience but only the children in reception could fit in the tiny seats in the rear.

Page 5 – School news Henley in Bloom Competition

On Wednesday the Henley in Bloom Committee came into school and gave an assembly to the children about their work, the importance of eating fruit and vegetables and how easy it is to grow your own. They also talked about the many uses of mint and launched a competition for the children to grow their own mint. Each family was given one pot and during the assembly they put compost in the pot and planted the seeds. Pupils are welcome to decorate the pots which should be brought back into school on Monday 18th July 2016 when the committee will return to judge the best mint pot.

Habitat Survival Trust

Class 2 had a fabulous day at The Habitat Survival Trust on Thursday. They built a dam in a stream, went searching for deer tracks, found a latrine for badgers in the woods, had a talk from Penny, a local bat expert who takes in rescued bats and got to stroke a Pipistrelle Bat.

Parents of reception children were invited into school on Thursday to see for themselves the children’s learning during the ‘Naughty Bus’ topic. They watched an i-movie the children had made retelling the story of the naughty bus, they looked at their books and they watched a slideshow of the children on the party bus.
