The annual high school physical education field trip to the GST BOCES Bush Campus took place on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10. The group totaled 61 students in grades 9th through 12th and was spread out over the two days. These students participated in the cooperative games unit within their phys-ical education classes and completed the unit successfully. Within this unit, students completed a full-value contract, various trust activities, successfully solved an escape room activity, and took part in vari-ous other cooperative activities. When they went on the field trip, they expanded on these activities by participating in tasks that brought them off of the ground on both low and high elements. Some of these activities included balancing a wooden platform and keeping it balanced off the ground with their whole group on it, walking through a tight rope obstacle course with little to no help from spots, and utilizing a belay line system to allow their teammates to climb 20+ feet off the ground, and completing a challenge in the air. The students had to use various forms of problem solving, teamwork, and trust to complete all
of these activities and did so successfully. Not only did students complete the activities, but a lot of them stepped out of their comfort zone and did things they never thought they would allow themselves to do. Mr. Greenfield and Mrs. Lakomey are extremely proud of the students!

Induction of New National Honor Society Members
National Technical Honor Society
Incoming freshmen were celebrated on Friday, June 14 at the Addison Middle School Eighth Grade Recognition Ceremony as they prepare for their transition to the high school. The class boasts 18 students who have challenged them-selves by taking Physical Earth Science and Al-gebra I New York State Regents high school courses. Members Kindra N., Colby L, and Trent J. will also be entering the STEM Acade-my in the fall. This program is a Pathway in Technology known as P-TECH, which is a new model for secondary education that brings to-gether the best elements of high school, col-lege, and the professional world. Students take the lead role in their learning, choosing
pathways to their careers and taking college-level, credit bearing courses. Faith I. and Owen C. were also chosen by their grade level core area teachers as Knights of the Year based on their consistent modeling of the Pillars of Knighthood. These students go above and beyond to serve as role models for their peers. Colby L. and Kindra N. were also recognized for their work on the class memory video as Mrs. Heidi VanWoert and Mrs. Catherine Cooke served as their mentors on the project.

Mrs. Wheeler’s
class recently
had special visi-
tors: Sarah and
her trainer,
Mrs. Fortier
from Tender
Grace Miniature
Horse Therapy,
here in Addison.
Sarah spent
time with each
student, allow-
ing them to
talk, touch, and
brush her as
much as they
wanted. Our
students were
surprised by
how gentle and
patient Sarah
was and loved
touching her
velvety nose.
