Social Activities through NSS:
International Yoga Day
International Yoga day was held on 21st June 2016. The event was organized by NSS
Committee & Student Council cell of Sinhgad College of Science in association with “Arts
of Living” organization. The motto of this event was to make people aware of
“Importance of Yoga in human life”. During the event volunteers of Arts of Living taught
the correct way of performing of yoga & shared information about Diet.
Toys, book & Cloth Donation
National Service Scheme (NSS) group of Sinhgad College of Science had organized a
"Book, Toys & Clothes donation camp" from 11th August to 22nd August 2016 at STES’S
Sinhgad College Of Science, Ambegaon Bk. Around 250 toys, 238 books and 723 cloths
were collected which were donated to tribal’s of Nandurbar District in collaboration with
a NGO ‘Sammrudham Foundation’.

Notebook & Pen Donation on Ganesh Festival:
NSS unit of Sinhgad College of Science had organized a "Notebook &Pen Donation" on
20th & 21st September 2016. On these days notebooks and pens were collected from
Students & Staff of Sinhgad College of Science. On the occasion of Ganesh Festival, NSS
volunteers donated Notebooks& pens to needy students.
Mass Singing of National Anthem:
On celebration of 70th year of independence of India, “Azadi 70- Yaad Karo Kurbani
(Freedom forth Night)” was celebrated on 23rd August 2016. NSS unit and Student
Welfare Department had organized mass singing of the national anthem in college
premises at 11:00 am. on this day.
Organ Donation Seminar:
NSS committee had conducted the seminar on “Organ Donation” on 1st September
2016. Doctors from SKN hospital briefed students & faculties about importance of organ
donation, which organs can be donated, who can be donor and also the procedure for
the same.
Vahatuk Suraksha Abhiyan:
On 6th Oct 2016, NSS cadets took part in ‘Vahtuk Suraksha Abhiyan” conducted at Vitthal
Wadi Chowk, Pune. In this drive awareness about “Traffic rules and Safety Drive by
wearing Helmet” was spread. The citizens who were driving vehicles with helmet on
head were given small biscuit pack as appreciation.
Girls Personality Development:
On 15th Dec. 2016 Student’s Welfare Cell of college has organized one day seminar on
“Girls Personality Development”. Total 90 girl students from UG and PG courses got
registered for the workshop. The Workshop was divided into 2 sessions.
NSS CAMP:
NSS CAMP 2016-17, had been organized from 21/12/2016 to 27/12/2016 at Agalambe

(a village near Pune). It was based on “SWACH & SWASTH BHARAT” Scheme. Total 30
students were participated in the CAMP. During the camp cleaning, road building,
woman health and education related activities were conducted. Demonetization was
the hot topic of this year. The villagers were made aware of importance of cashless
transaction and how it can be done.
Republic Day Celebration
All NSS cadets were present at Sinhgad Spring Dale School’s Ground for the flag hosting
on REPUBLIC DAY at 7:15am. And the flag hosting was done at 7:30 am.
After that cadets visited “Dnyangangoyri Matimand Mulanchi Shala”, Dhayri , Pune.
School is for Divyangan students. Students spend the remaining whole day with these
disabled students.
Polio Vaccination Camp
The event was held on 26th Feb 2017 at Sinhgad Road, Pune from 8:00am to 5:00pm on
11 different booths. Total 25 students attended the camp. The volunteers were divided
into 11 groups having 2/3 cadets in each. The children below 5 yrs. were given two drops
of polio. Total 3470 students were given polio doss. The drive was conducted in
association with Zilha Parishad.
