DLSU-D Ethics Review Committee granted Level 1 accreditation

Mr. Wilson JacintoDirector of University Linkages Office

De La Salle University – Dasmariñas Ethics Review Committee (DLSU-D ERC) was granted Level 1 accreditation for having complied with the requirements set by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB). Dr. Norbel A. Tabo, coordinator of the DLSU-D ERC, received the certificate of accreditation during the 12th Philippine National Health Research System Week celebration held at the Camp John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City on August 9, 2018.

The Philippine National Health Research System Act of 2013 (RA 10532) institutionalized the Philippine Health

Research Ethics Board (PHREB) as the national policy making body in health research ethics in the country, created under DOST Special Order No. 091 S. 2006, which ensures adherence to the universal ethical principles for the protection and promotion of the dignity of health research participants. The PHREB is mandated to accredit all Institutional Ethics Review Committees that currently conducts ethics review of research proposals involving human participation. This mandate was endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education through a memorandum from the chairperson on March 2015.

• Dr. Madonna Amora, Asso. Professor, Languages and Literature DepartmentHost University: Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, Taiwan

The said presentation is part of the DSLU-D Academic Mobility Program to respond to theCommission on Higher Education (CHEd) Memorandum Order No. 55 S. 2016 on the internationalization of education in the years ahead.

The program will guarantee a stable support to the University’s strategic plans for internationalization, specifically, fortify its cross-border activities on academic exchanges among its partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

In fact, the University has already funded a number of faculty and student exchanges since its implementation in SY 2017-2018. Select faculty and students were deployed for international

teaching assignments, and non-degree education, respectively, in Asia, Pacific and Europe through its partnerships as channels. Hence, the University maintains a strong relationship among its network of higher education institutions, including but not limited to La Salle Universities around the world, and international associations such as the University Mobility for Asia and the Pacific (UMAP). Inbound international exchange students have also been in constant influx since 2015. It is hoped that the activities will gather more support from its partner HEIs along with its home country, and contribute to this great endeavor.
