May Flowers
As I have wondered what to write for this month's newsletter, a phrase has continued to come back to my mind. That phrase is April showers bring May flowers. Perhaps it simply has to do with the fact that it is April. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that it has rained a significant amount this weekend. Perhaps. Or perhaps it is that God has something He wants us to hear from that little proverb. There was a song some years ago that stated the same intent differently. The song stated where there is always sunshine, there is a desert below. Both of these statements want us to understand that there are good things that can come from what, at moments, may seem like undesirable events. There is a story about a man who helped a butterfly out of its chrysalis, only to have the butterfly emerge with shriveled wings. The struggle the butterfly goes through to emerge forces fluids from its swollen body into the wings in order to enable flight. The point from all of this is the reminder that although showers may come into life, if we have the right attitude and let the Lord work in our lives according to His will, good things can come. There lies the catch. The ability to see the good things comes from a willingness to look beyond the current circumstances to the end result. The catch is also the willingness to seek what God would have us learn. We will never smell May flowers if we are so busy looking at and grumbling about April showers that we never hear what God whispers to our heart. There are times when God wants to teach us something, but we are so distracted by the moment that we miss the lesson. So as the rains fall look for the flowers that God wants to bloom in your life.

Skillet Fish with Lemon Tarragon Butter
2 teaspoons reduced fat margarine or butter
4 teaspoons lemon juice, divided
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/4 teaspoon prepared mustard
1/4 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 lean white fish fillets (4 oz. each), rinsed and patted dry

salt in small bowl. Blend well with fork; set aside. Coat 12 inch nonstick skillet
with nonstick cooking spray. Heat over medium heat until hot. Drizzle fillets
with remaining 2 teaspoons lemon juice. Sprinkle one side of each fillet with
paprika. Place fillets in skillet, paprika side down; cook 3 minutes. Gently turn
and cook 3 minutes longer or until opaque in center and flakes easily when
tested with fork. Place fillets on serving plates; top with butter mixture.

Steve Hemmer is trying to
put together a Zoar Church
Directory and keep it up to
date. It wont be a profes-
sional directory, but just a
way of letting new people know who other members
of the congregation are.
He is using the pictures from the last directory, but
would like updated pictures as families grow and
change. A snap shot is fine. Pictures can be emailed
to [email protected] or give them to him at
church. If you need someone to take a picture of you
or your family, let Steve know and he can bring a
camera to church on Sunday morning.
