  • Our Breed JudgeMiss E. Fisher (Palizolla)

My childhood consisted of dogs and pony club. Although we had different breeds over the years, all becoming "my dog", a holiday to my family in Ireland who bred Golden Retrievers captured my heart and when my poor old Collie passed away, there was only one breed for me — Golden Retriever. After much deliberation, I approached Sue Russell and purchased my first Golden Retriever in 1997, my beloved Rosinante Lady Madonna - Deisa. What fun we had, obedience, agility and showing. Deisa produced my lovely Palizolla Polar Star, who is mother of my beautiful Palizolla Polar Bear JW. Their legacy lives on with my gorgeous Palizolla Persuasion. My girls are my family.

My affix 'Palizolla' is from a Cistercian monastery 'Villa Palazzola' situated on the hillside above Lake Albano, opposite the Pope's summer residence Castel Gandolfo outside Rome. The monastery is a place of reflection where anyone can stay. It has the most tranquil, beautiful and fragrant gardens, with Bernini fountains, overlook the picturesque lake and magnificent views of Rome in the distance. I have been very fortunate to stay there several times, the perfect name, the beauty of the location matches the beauty of the Golden Retriever.

I work for a US electronics company handling $40million of worldwide business. I was Secretary of Slough & District Canine Society for over 10 years and presently Show Secretary for Berkshire Downs & Chilterns Golden Retriever Club since 2004.

Where the Best in Show is a puppy it will automatically be Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show respectively. Best Puppy in Show must be selected from puppies which have been judged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy.

    b. Withdrawal from other Competition: Dogs which become eligible for Best in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes prior to the competition for Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. c. Proviso: For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

    13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

    14. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

    15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

    16. All dogs residents outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the Show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

    17. Dogs in Cars on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a

busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea

at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of

water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the

dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty

of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended

lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could

lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

    18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

    19. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches.

Where an owner makes an entry on behalf of another joint registered owner(s) or where an agent enters on behalf of a single or joint registered owner(s) such person must have the authority and consent from the single or joint registered owner(s) to sign the entry form on their behalf thereby binding them all to such authority and consent will be required. They are therefore expected to take the greatest of care to avoid uneven sufaces and other hazards which are inevitable and integral element of a dog show. Those bringing and using portable items such as folding chairs, trolleys, cages and grooming equipment have a responsibility to ensure that their tools, equipment and collapsible furniture is used and erected safely and does not constitute a hazard to others. Exhibitors are also reminded that they should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the prevailing conditions on the site. Exhibitors show and competitors compete at their own risk if conditions are not ideal. The Safety Officer and committee members of the SGRS will be patrolling all areas of the show and car park throughout the show.

    32. The Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any dog, person or property whether arising from accident or any other cause whatever, or from any act or omission of itself, agents, servants or others or the damage done by the exhibitor to any person or property.

    33. Parents will be held responsible for any damage to property caused by their children within the environs of the show.

    34. In the event that the show is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the club/society will refund fees, less reasonably incurred expenses, on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope submitted within one month of the show date.
