PROGRESS UPDATE PLAN FOR NEXT MONTH / WEEK (Including Possible Contingency Plans If Problems Anticipated)

September 2012(Detailed Monthly Summary) To start the project, I was given the brief, as I choose to do a music

video; I next had to decide upon a group to who I was going to do this with. After this, the next part was to set up a blog on blogger so that I could put my work on as I needed a place where I can put my finish pieces. As we got given our first task to complete, I set off thinking about what genre and conventions which I want to put in my music video, as we needed to analyse different digipaks for ancillary 1 as we are going to be creating our own. I looked at the different codes and conventions which were added onto the pieces. I looked at 3, to which I compared and seen how I can create mine. I went onto starting my construction of my digipak of the structure and layout which I will use for my design.

I will finish off ancillary 1, completing layout deigns and imagery.

October 2012(Detailed Monthly Summary) I finished off ancillary 1 by finishing off the layout designs, however

I had to insert a image off the internet as a the image has to incorporate the music video and as I hadn’t started I hang fired as it could be different to what I expected as well I needed to insert my own images and as I will need someone or something to be in my music video, I thought I could imagery from this for the digipak. Once I completed my draft copy, I received the next task to do. I had to research for my ancillary 2, which is to create an advert for your digipak. I researched into 3 different adverts, again looking at the codes and conventions which I can use for ideas towards my own piece. I also constructed my ancillary task, looking at the structure, layout, imagery and the codes and conventions to add into my task; however as before I inserted an image off the internet as I will get this when I do my filming. given my next task, which was research and planning into my main piece. I started looking at possible music videos which I liked, then started conferring with my partner of what type of music video we wanted; this is where we created an idea generation map.

November 2012(Detailed Monthly Summary) After deciding what artist and song we wanted (Taylor Swift), this

shown us what genre we was going for which is pop/country. From this, we made a more in depth mind map of what we wanted to put into our music video. Then we completed an idea generation essay going more in depth with the ideas of what we are thinking of putting into our music video. Completing this, I completed my music video analysis as I wanted to analyse music videos which would fit into my genre which I have chosen. I sent out a questionnaire as I wanted to find out what the audience want, who the audience are and how we are going to show our music video conceptually. I analysed the data which found that our target audience is going to be 13-18 so we need to show a youth type of video which has a performance and narrative concept. When this was completed, we went onto planning shot types and angles which we want to put into our music video, we done this by creating a storyboard.

Next, I will need to finish off story board which will be the base into shooting my video and plan dates, times, places and actors, so I will be able to film.

December 2012(Detailed Monthly Summary) We finished off the mood board to the shots, angles, mise en scene

and narration which I wanted into our music video. We then went onto planning on dates, times, places and actors for the filming process. First we looked at actors, as we want to do a love story the actors are the most important. We wanted to choose a couple as they are going out so it wouldn’t be awkward if they kiss and cuddle as they are actually going out unlike if they weren’t. Then

when the actors confirmed they could do it, we needed to decide upon a place. As they are students at Liverpool University, we saw that it was easier for us to film there as well they have better locations which we thought would be a great place to film, such as grass near the docks. We then needed to see when the best time was to visit them to be able to film. As we are also students, we thought the best would be a weekend as we aren’t in our studies, so we planned to go up on the 18th January, as both parties were free. As we wanted to try and film everything in one, we wanted to try and get there for as early as possible so we arrange a reasonable time of 10am for us to arrive, as we will need to travel, take a few shots of everything and get every scene we have planned for to be filmed. After arranging all this, we needed to find a way of transportation, I looked at trains and coaches but my partner insisted her dad will take us and pick us up, so this benefitted us as we didn’t have much money to spend. We also sorted out equipment, as we need a camera to film on as well as a tripod to use. As my partner had it all, we used her as it was useful as she knew how to use it.

Mon W/B 07/01/13(Detailed Weekly Summary) For the week, we tested out adobe premier as we needed to know

how to use it to a good standard. We got clips which are teacher put onto a server so we could edit them and put them into order to get use of the program.

Mon W/B 14/01/13(Detailed Weekly Summary) For the week, it was filming weekend, so we finished off the mini

prop. I also took my camera just in case we needed a back up. We thought of ways we could use the weather; if it is raining we researched into places which would be good, we thought of the shopping mall, cafe and bedroom (last two of which we want to film anyway). As well as places outside; park, docks and bridge. We got to filming, everything went fine and we got mostly what we wanted. It was a successful day.

Mon W/B 21/01/13(Detailed Weekly Summary) For the week, we ran over the clips so we could see which ones

were worth using and the ones which wasn’t and named them so we knew what they were so they were easier to identify them when editing. We then started on the editing process. First of all we imported the music, and then we imported all the good clips and started to arrange them into places of the music.

clips in an order which we thought would fit.

Mon W/B 04/02/13(Detailed Weekly Summary) For the week, again we carried on with the editing process placing

the clips in an order which we thought would fit. At the beginning of the week we seen we haven’t got enough clips so we needed to do an emergency mini filming session, so we could finish off our video, so we planned quickly on what we are going to do luckily, the actress was coming down the week after so we planned on doing more shots of her being sad and burning a photo at her house before she goes. We planned it for the 15th February, to film as we were off so it was easy to meet up.

Mon W/B 11/02/13(Detailed Weekly Summary) For the week, term I couldn’t work on any of my video as it was

half term so I just looking over notes. I also again organised the day by making sure I have the equipment and have drew up a plan for the shoot. We went over to film, which we thought we have gotten all of the shots we needed.

After we got a couple of responses off fellow pupils and got the all clear, we uploaded it onto YouTube. We then created a Facebook focus group so we could get more information about how we could change it and make it better.

dragged it on a few more days to see whether we could get anymore. I then started to look at my ancillaries projects and related them to my video. They didn’t match so I started from the

beginning, as it I wanted a different layout, structure and imagery. I went through my video and images looking for the right images to use which I did, then put them into Photoshop for me to start. First I done ancillary one. Which I completed by the end of the week.

structure and image which I have done myself so it could fit in with my genre, ancillary project and music video. For the half term we have been given our evaluation project to start during the holidays.
