develop each participant’s interpersonal and professional leadership skills.

Teens worked in teams of two or three people to write
one article that was published in the Springfield Sun.
The assignment was meant to help teens reflect on the
day & communicate its value to the community & the
supporters of the program.

STATE GOVERMENT DAY — MARCH 6, 2019
Objective:
recognize the characteristics of leadership in the
real world
Teens chose one real world leader & gave a short
presentation on that leader at Teen Leadership
Graduation. Real leaders could be family, local
leaders, artists, entertainers, politicians, athletes,
business owners, etc.
Teen included the following: information about
their leader, the purpose of the leader, the people
the leader influences, characteristics the leader
displays, & the leader’s True Color personality

Objectives:

Teens volunteered for at least three hours.
Most teens helped with various Sorghum Festival
events or with County Fair Exhibits. Thanks to Pat
Rose & Krista Thompson for helping to organize
those efforts!
If teens were unavailable to help during the
Sorghum Festival, they helped in other volunteer
roles, such as ringing the Salvation Army bells.
Judge Anderson designed a
role play activity where teens
visit various courts & offices with scenarios
to learn more about the workings of each
location. This included the County Attorney,
Circuit Clerk, Family Court, District Court,
Court Designated Worker, & Family Law.
