Issue No 8 Term 1 Week 9 Date 26 April 2021 A note from Mrs Swanson - Principal Thank you It's been another eventful week at Anna Bay Public School. I really wish to extend my thanks to all our community partners who helped navigate the extreme weather conditions during the week. Anna Bay RFS and the Port Stephen's SES have been invaluable sources for us to draw on during the wet and dangerous conditions presenting around our school. A big thanks also to our families in being so accommodating with changed drop off and pick up arrangements. Easter Hat Parade We look forward to welcoming a parent from each family to attend our Easter Hat Parade next week. This will look a little different to previous years as we continue to follow our Covid-safe plan, though we are very excited to warmly welcome you to this event on site. A note has been sent home to each family with all the details. We make a difference, every child matters every day. Disco Many thanks to our families on Wednesday night for your support in making sure our Covid Safe plan for the disco went smoothly. The children were very excited to be able to attend the first disco in over 12 months. It was great to put the dancing shoes back on! Discos have been booked for Wednesday 16 June (Term 2) and Wednesday 8 September (Term 3). We also hope to have the P&C at the next disco to sell snacks and refreshments. NAPLAN Students in Year 3 and Year 5 will be participating in NAPLAN Online Assessment in Term 2 from 11 May until 21 May. An information sheet has been attached to the newsletter. If you have further questions please contact your childs teacher. Tell them from me Survey ABPS students will be once again participating in the Tell them from mesurvey. The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school etc. More than 6,300 schools in Australia and around the world have used Tell Them From Me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of our students will help improve how we do things at Anna Bay Public School. Cross Country

We were blessed with blue skies and sunshine for our cross country event today, what a change from last week’s weather!

There was fantastic participation across all age groups and fantastic displays of sportsmanship.

Cross Country results will be shared next week.

Well done everyone!

Attendance

The class with the highest attendance this week is1H with 80%. CONGRATULATIONS! Following close behind was 3V with 78% attendance.

It impossible to have a most improved class because of the very wet start to the week.

Start thinking of a great name for our mascot the dolphin, remember the naming competition will be on first week back!

Easter Raffle

Year 6 would like to thank Anna Bay IGA and the P&C association for their incredibly generous donations of prizes for the Easter raffle. Also a thankyou to the year 6 families who donated prizes. There are lots of egg-cellent prizes up for grabs, don’t forget to purchase your tickets!

P&C Association

PIE DRIVE DELIVERY - Thursday 1st April.

Our pie drive delivery is expected to arrive at 7am. We are in need of 4 - 6 helpers to assist with packing orders once it is delivered. If you are able to help could you please send a message to the P&C Facebook page or contact the school.

We aim to have orders available for collection from 8am. If you lodged an order form please remember you are responsible for collection of the whole order on that form.

Collection will be from the school hall and you will need to QR code in on arrival.

We do not have a facility to keep items refrigerated or stored for the whole day as we have the Easter hat parade in the hall.

Thanks again for supporting our fundraiser!

P & C meeting will be held on Tuesday 30th March in the Library, everyone welcome to attend.

Easter is almost here!!!

I will have yummy hot cross buns available next

week for $1.50. They will be available in fruit or

choc-chip and can warmed up if the students

would like.

With the end of term fast approaching it would

be appreciated if those of you who have

outstanding accounts from forgotten lunches

etc could finalise them please.
