Reflector target

location

Navigating in wind farms

• Direct line of sight between the laser sensor and reflector

• The reflector must ideally be at a similar height to the sensor

• The reflector should be well maintained and clean

• No other reflectors should be in the vicinity of the target

Laser PRS operation requirements

Risk of false reflection and walk off incidents if• CyScan not set up correctly• Poor quality targets are used

What is ?

• fixed beam radar sensors operating in the license exempt short range device band of 24GHz

Targetless object detection and accurate distance measurement

• a warning is output when a potential hazard is detected within user defined protection zones

• An accurate range measurement is displayed on the user interface via a web browser

Measures range to the nearest object

• 11°(+/-5.5°) elevation and two options of azimuth beam: 11°(Narrow Beam) and 110° (Wide Beam)

Wide beam and narrow fixed beam options

How is raw data processed?

All radar return signals are detected – peaks in signal strength

Radar Data processed in control box

Target tracking algorithm used to monitor and track peaks

Can track 10 peaks simultaneously

Can Lock onto an interesting peak –largest or nearest

Benefits of RangeGuard System

No targets – uses the environment

• Vessel independent of installation

• No false reflections

• No maintenance

• Reduces costs

Improves safety

• Additional form of redundancy

Increases efficiencies

• Decreases turnaround times
