From Father Jim We will be closing our Jubilee year of Mercy at ICC with the noon Mass and at St. Jude Mission with the 9:00 AM Mass next Sunday, November 20. On this same Sunday we complete our Liturgical Year with the Solemnity of Christ the King. This Jubilee Year invited us to celebrate the theme, “Merciful like the Father.” Throughout this past year each tome we passed through the front door of each church, we passed through a “Holy Door” to intentionally remind ourselves not only of God’s Mercy toward us but also of our call to extend that Mercy to others. St. Pope John Paul II reminds us that “to focus on the door is to recall the responsibility of every believer to cross its threshold and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Mysterium 8, 2000). Pope Francis tells us that Jesus is the face of God’s Mercy [Misericordiae Vultus 1 2015]. There is a brief ritual we will use at the end of Mass in each church to remove from the doors the icons of mercy that have graced the doors this whole year. The Jubilee Year is ended but not the call to weave the fabric of God’s Mercy into our living Jesus. Catholic Campaign for Human Development Today we are having a second collection for The Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The CCHD was launched in 1970 by U.S. Bishops to fund groups working to break the cycle of poverty. Since its inception, CCHD has made grants to community-based self-help projects created and managed by low-income Americans. From Father JimWe will be closing our Jubilee year of Mercy at ICC with the noon Mass and at St.

CCHD is truly a grass roots fundraising activity to fund grass roots action on behalf of social justice. Please look for the CCHD envelope to make a donation or you can donate online on our parish website.

We extend a warm welcome to our new Parishioners:Mrs. Marie Lynch

Congratulations to those recently baptized:Aleenah Rose Matthews

Congratulations to the couple who has recently been married in the parish:

asked to remain in church.

The Angel TreeThe Angel Tree is a parish tradition in which we can share with those who are less fortunate. Parishioners had the opportunity to choose an Angel with a child’s name on it who is in need. The gifts are to be wrapped and the angel

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

used as a nametag. This is essential as it enables us to match the angel with the correct family!

Gifts are due back on December 4 th !

It is important that you return your gift on time! If you wish to help our community and did not pick up an angel at Mass, please call the Outreach at 410-398-2110.Thank you so much for your generosity!

Readings for next week: First Sunday of Advent First Reading: Isaiah 2:1-5 The words of Isaiah urge all people to forsake war and to live in peace forever. The tone reaches a climax in the words, “One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again.”

Second Reading: Romans 13:11-14 Paul invites us to put away all the things of darkness and sin and to prepare for the coming of Christ.

Gospel: Matthew 24:37-44 A comparison is made between the destruction caused by Noah’s flood and the need to be prepared for the second coming of Christ. “You must be prepared in the same way. The Son of Man is coming at the time you least expect.”

Why Jewish Scripture Readings at Sunday Mass? What is all this talk about God “bringing doom, gloom and destruction on Israel and/or her neighbors?” What did they mean for the Jewish listeners millennia ago? How are we today to understand these passages from the Old

Testament? Why are they an integral part of understanding the New Testament? Why? Why? Why? Come and explore stories of the Old Testament readings that we will hear during Advent and beyond! Bring a friend! Our Parish Youth Group will be available for child care during this time for a slight donation for Work Camp. Fr. Connolly will give the first presentation TODAY, Sunday, Nov. 20 th at 1:15pm in the chapel. The second presentation will be on Dec. 11th. Hope to see you there! The youth group is holding a babysitting service for the presentation, today, in the school.

Pope Francis Year of Mercy Quote of the WeekToday is The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. This Feast concludes the Year of Mercy that began on December 8, 2015. This will be our last Pope Francis Year of Mercy Quote of the Week. However, I encourage you to “Google” Pope Francis to reflect on the words of wisdom that he offers in his daily preaching and his weekly Angelus Addresses, or in his Apostolic Exhortations. I find that he offers us much food for thought to help us deepen our faith, and, as St. Francis de Sales would ask, to “Live+Jesus.” In the Gospel of Luke, we hear about Jesus’ crucifixion on this Solemnity of Christ the King. Pope Francis wrote: “Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is nothing else than the culmination of the way he lived his entire life. Moved by his example, we want to enter fully into the fabric of society, sharing the lives of all, listening to their concerns, helping them materially and spiritually in their needs, rejoicing with those who rejoice, weeping with those who weep; arm in arm with others, we are committed to building a new world.” (Evangelii Gaudium)

Are you unbaptized and have a desire to be baptized? Are you a Christian interested in becoming a Catholic? Are you a baptized Catholic who never received the sacrament of Eucharist and Confirmation? If you answered yes to any of these questions then RCIA is for you!! RCIA is the process by which baptized and unbaptized Christians become members of the Catholic Church. It is also the process by which baptized Catholics receive the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Do you feel God calling you to have a deeper relationship with Him? If so, contact the Parish Office at 410-398-1100 or [email protected] to learn more about RCIA and to set up an interview with Pat Kosman. The RCIA process is a wonderful way to have a greater understanding of the

Catholic faith and become closer to God. Sponsors are needed to walk with those who are learning about the Catholic faith through the RCIA process. Do you love your Catholic faith and you want to share it with others? Please consider being a sponsor! Call the Parish Office at 410-398-1100 to sign up. It requires a small amount of effort yet you'll receive large rewards. If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please contact the Parish Office at 410-398-1100.
