RETURN/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

The SysCal™ 93025 system is backed by a 1-year probe and thermocouple instrument Warranty on defects in workmanship and materials.

1-YEAR WARRANTY Any instrument which proves to be defective in material or workmanship within one year of original purchase will be repaired or replaced without charge upon receipt of the unit prepaid with proof of purchase. This Limited Warranty does not cover damage in shipment or failure caused by tampering, obvious carelessness, or abuse, and is the purchaser’s sole remedy.

Because the individual probes and thermocouple work in tandem to form a calibrated system, parts cannot be replaced individually.

REPAIR RETURN If damaged, all probes and thermocouples must be returned together for repair and recalibration. Limited Warranty terms apply.

SERVICE RETURN For annual recalibration service and re-issue of certification, return all probes and thermocouples to the address below.

93025 TROUBLESHOOTING

TROUBLESHOOTING

1) Unit Does Not Turn On: Batteries are installed incorrectly or dead. Check batteries are installed according to picture on rear label. Replace batteries.

2) Display Shows “Prob”: Probe is broken (Open thermocouple. See “Test for Broken Probe” below).

3) Test for Broken Probe: Pull the probe connector out partially to expose the blade contacts. Place a metal paper clip across connector blades to short contacts. If instrument displays temperature, the probe is broken. Replace Probe.

4) Battery Icon Appears on Display: Low battery. Replace batteries.

5) Display Shows “bAtt” and Instrument Shuts Off: Replace batteries.

6) Display Shows “LO” or “HI”: Temperature measured is outside measurement range of instrument.

PROBE CONNECTORS LOCATED INSIDE COLD ENVIRONMENTS

It is recommended that the probe connector is located outside of any cold environments to avoid any inaccuracies.

If the probe cord is not long enough to fit outside of the cooler or freezer, it can be left in that environment during the wait time of 3 to 5 minutes. However, if the probe connector is exposed to these cold environments, and then plugged into the thermocouple instrument, it needs to acclimate for approximately 4 minutes. This will compensate for the temperature difference between the probe connector and the instrument to avoid inaccurate readings.

To avoid taking innaccurate readings, do not leave the thermocouple instrument in these environments longer than the recommended times explained above.

Probe replacement is no longer necessary as long as the calibration process yields an accuracy within the stated range, and the calibration process is performed within the actual in-use environment. If any calibration results demonstrate out of tolerance conditions for a TempTrak® transmitter or probe, the equipment will need to be replaced (refer to current price schedule). For further information contact your local TempTrak sales representative.

SysCal™ CALIBRATION PROCESS

The Syscal calibration process was designed to monitor the accuracy of a previously installed TempTrak® transmitter and its modified* Solid Simulator Probe. This process will be used with the transmitter and solid simulator probe connected, measured as a unit, and in place within the use environment.

Calibration of the transmitter and solid simulator is achieved by comparing the documented readings from the transmitter and solid simulator with the reading from the SysCal™ 35025 Thermocouple and the 50219-K Probe. This reading is referred to as the reference standard.

The Total System Accuracy (TSA) of SysCal is ±0.5°F (±0.3°C). A certificate of calibration from an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory is also supplied. This accuracy will provide a Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR) of 4:1 when used as the reference standard for the TempTrak transmitter and Solid Product Simulator.*The modified solid simulator incorporates a secondary hole in the opposite end from where the thermistor sensor is inserted into the solid simulator. This secondary hole is used to place an insertion probe in the vicinity of the simulator’s thermistor sensor.

CALIBRATION INSTRUCTIONS

1 Insert the SysCal probe into the calibration port of the solid simulator.

Close the door to the monitoring area to minimize temperature fluctuations. To ensure an accurate reading between the probe and the solid simulator, allow them to stabilize for 3 to 5 minutes before recording a temperature.

3 A TempTrak reading transmission is initiated by pressing the transmit button* on the TempTrak transmitter (900 MHz shown).

*Depending on the transmitter type, this button may be accessible from the inside (as above) or from the outside.

5 Seal the calibration port on the solid simulator probe by placing a blank label (supplied) over the hole.

2 Secure probe by looping the elastic band over the top of the solid simulator.

The reading from the TempTrak transmitter is compared to the reference standard recorded by the SysCal thermocouple. If that reading is within ±2.0ºF (±1.1ºC), the transmitter and solid simulator probe are considered to be calibrated within the stated accuracy.

4 Immediately after sending the reading from the transmitter, take note of the temperature displayed on the thermocouple. Record this reading in your data log sheet. Use this as your reference standard.

6 A new calibration label (supplied) is dated and signed by the technician, and placed on the housing of the TempTrak transmitter (802.11 Wi-Fi shown).
