Systems Conveyance and Operations Program (SCOP), Lake Conveyance System Pipeline, Clark County, Nevada. Atkins marine archeologists conducted a geophysical survey of 889 acres in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area followed by video documentation of selected features using a ROV. The survey was performed to map historic infrastructure associated with the construction of the Hoover Dam. Atkins archeologists mapped and photographed the inundated aggregate classification plant and storage facility, where all the gravel for the Hoover Dam construction was washed and sorted. The facility included several rail beds built by the Six Companies Railroad to transport aggregate. Atkins recommended these sites as contributing elements of the Hoover Dam Railroads Non-Contiguous Historic District.

Historic Properties Investigations as needed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, in Texas and Louisiana. Atkins has held six indefinite delivery order contracts for cultural resources investigations with the Galveston District from 1989 through 2007. A total of 69 delivery orders, including 57 involving marine archeology, were issued to Atkins over the 18-year period. In 2003, Colonel Leonard Waterworth commended our marine archeologists for “their professionalism, responsiveness, and commitment to quality.”
