Stay Active and Outdoors

Just because it’s a little cooler and it’s getting darker

earlier, it doesn’t mean you have to move your

fitness inside.

Try these ideas to stay active and outdoors this fall!

1 Sneak in Some Fitness at Soccer

Walk around the field to watch the

practice from all angles and get in

some steps. It’s much better for your

fitness than sitting on the sidelines

facebooking :)

2. Bike to a Farmer’s Market

Fall is harvest season and that

means your local farmers markets

are packed with produce. If you have

one relatively close by, ditch the car

and ride your bike instead.

3. Try Disc GolfDisc golf is a TON of fun in the fall.

The courses are less crowded and

the holes look different than they

did in the summer because the

leaves are falling. Disc golf is a fun

way to stay active in the fall.

4.Try Something New If you’ve been thinking about trying

something new, like disc golf, fall is

the perfect time of year. It’s like our

brains are wired to learn in the

fall….just ask all of those school kids.

Why not investigate a Tai Chi class

or finally give Yoga a try? Both of

which are EVEN better when you do

them outside.

5. Visit a Local Farm

Local farms have a wide variety of

fun activities for the whole family.

Things like apple picking, or getting

lost in a corn maze are fun ways to

be outdoors and active in the fall.

6. Go to the Fair So long as you stay away from the

fried dough, fairs can be a healthy

exercise opportunity. Walking

through a fair or festival is a fun and

distracting way to get in some steps ,

enjoy the outdoors and see some

fascinating crafts, animals, and

people.

7. Train for a Themed Race Training for a themed race may be a

perfect way to stay inspired and

active this fall. There are a lot of fun

halloween and turkey trot style

races happening all across the

country. Setting your sights on one

can provide the additional

motivation you need to get out there

and stay active.
