House Style & Design Notes.Colour-A colour scheme is used throughout this magazine cover, consisting of black, white, blue and,red, enhancing the idea of the American flag being used in the background, they also painted her nails

blue, gave her red lipstick, and dressed her in a white dress. This ties in with the American themes.

Fonts-Roughly about 3 fonts are used throughout this magazine cover, this reflects the idea of the masthead being simple and straight to the point, they use a more adventurous text towards the bottom of themagazine which is eye catching, this text is to inform the buyers that there is more inside, the chosentext reflects this well.

Style-the front cover of the magazine gives the whole magazine a good fun vibe, on the actual image theyuse direct mode of address, in a fun playful way, this is inviting to the readers. They use a quote from oneof their interviews which reads Im a psycho! this enigma prompts the reader to ask questions, alsomaking the magazine inviting to the public.

Use of space- there is no dead space throughout the whole page of this front cover, its very chaotic anddraws your attention, its typically set out with the mast head sitting at the top left hand corner, and thehead line is sitting at the bottom of the middle section. Dominating is the left hand side of the magazinethis is due to how the magazines are stacked on the shelf's this technique is good for advertisementpurposes.

Conclude-The american theme reflects the idea of the American singer featuring in that particularmagazine, this ties in well with the theme of the magazine.

colour-A very simple colour scheme is used consisting of black red and white, as the cover girls hair isbright red they used two simple contrasting colours to enhance the boldness of the picture, their use ofblack and white on top of red really makes the magazine cover stand out. And gives the magazine agood effect.

Fonts-this magazine cover is very effectively simple, the stick to two fonts, so they dont draw anyattention away from the actual image. They use the more adventurous fonts for their most interestingstories drawing in the attention, this is a good technique to use when considering how to promote yourproducts.

Style-in this magazine they use direct mode of address, which is inviting, in this picture the cover girl inthis case Florence looks very mysterious, doing this by giving it a mysterious vibe it prompts an enigmawithin the reader and draws them in, I think direct mode of address is very effective in this situation.

Use of Space- although there is white space on this front cover, its not dead space and its very minimaland it ties in with the colour theme of the magazines, they us white clothing and white writing toenahance the bold red colour, the writing is quite spaced out, and unusually the right side of themagazine dominates over the left side, although they do use very big bold writing at the bottom handside, and as most of the NME magazines do the mast head is sitting in the top right hand corner thisshows a link throughout all of the magazines.

Conclude-The conventions on this magazine challenge the image as they stand out with the images, thismagazine cover also reflects the mysterious music style that this music artists produces. This is good forpromoting their magazines to the readers who enjoy this music, they will enjoy the magazine styles.

Colour-typically as most of the NME magazines do stick to three or four colours throughout the whole ofthe front page, this particular magazine has has used four very contrasting colours, these are black andwhite, blue and pink, the idea of black on white is very contrasting and effectively makes the colours,pictures and the writing stand out, and pink on blue creates a very fun vibe.

Fonts-Again NME magazine has stuck to three very simple fonts, to enhance the idea of important storiesthat will interest their readers.

Style-NME has a tendency to use direct mode of address, they have also done that here, this image createsa very fun, mysterious, inviting vibe to the front cover, making the readers question what's inside.

Use Of Space-Again, typically, the left hand side of the magazine has dominated, the mast head is in thetop left hand corner, linking this magazine with the rest of the NME magazines, the headline is at thebottom of the middle section right in the middle of the page, and although there is a lot of white space itsnot dead space and it makes the pictures and the whole magazine covers stand out more, the fact they haveused pink and blue and back on a white background adds contrasting effect making the picture more livelyand bright making it stand out, the lively image reflects the idea of what music will be in that magazine.
