Radical RocketsJuly 10 – 14 Warning: Campers may get wet! While launching water bottle rockets, we bet campers won’t even notice how wet they are as they watch their rocket soar high in the sky. Then, it’s back to the drawing board to design an even better rocket. They’ll also build and launch air powered and solid fuel rockets. Creativity and teamwork makes for an action-packed week of radical rocketry fun!

3D Design for Mars RoversJuly 31 – Aug 4 NEW! Design and print a 3D prototype to help Martian Rovers explore newly discovered caverns! Tight spaces with little room for humans, makes a great opportunity for campers to assist NASA. Campers will use their ingenuity as well as get a taste of real-world software, 3D modeling and 3D printing to complete the mission!

Java Boot CampJuly 24 – 28NEW! Interested in coding but don't know where to begin? Always wondered what programming is all about? This is the camp for you! Java Boot Camp is a beginning intensive, hands-on experience with Java. Campers will explore the various technologies and environments in which Java applications are developed as well as write, compile, test and troubleshoot Java programs. FTC robotics teams can gain valuable Java skills to help with robot programming.

TETRIX® Robotics “Tackling the Basics”July 17 – 21 Campers will attack ROBOTC programming basics with the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT robot controller. Experiences are expanded as they build a heavy-duty TETRIX® robot using aircraft grade aluminum parts and powerful drive motors. Campers that are serious about engineering or programming will enjoy tackling autonomous and remote control challenges.

Campers can train like an astronaut and still be home in time for dinner!

LEGO® WeDo II “Build a Zoo”July 24 – July 28 What would you do if you ran the zoo? Campers will be challenged to expand prior WeDo building and programming skills as they encounter some new wild LEGO WeDo robotic models. In addition to using WeDo software, campers will have the chance to get even more creative with coding by using Scratch to bring the zoo to life. (Previous WeDo building and programming experience is strongly suggested.)

NXT Challenge “Smart Cars” (LEGO® NXT Robots)June 5 – 9 or July 10 – 14Look Ma - no hands! Self-driving cars are no longer science fiction! Campers take on the roles of engineer and computer programmer to build and design autonomous cars that can navigate roads and park themselves. There will be no need for crash-test dummies in this NXT LEGO robot ultimate driving experience!

LEGO® MARS TREKJune 12 – 16 NASA is preparing to visit Mars! What kind of mechanisms will be used to propel NASA’s new launch vehicle, SLS (Space Launch System)? How will the new “Martians” maintain power once they arrive? Campers will build and use LEGO models and investigate how pneumatics, hydraulics, solar and wind energy could be used to help astronauts arrive and survive on Mars!

RoboBlast (LEGO® EV3 Robots)June 19 – 23, June 26 – 30, or July 24 – 28 or July 25 – 29 Calling all cadets! Enlist in this exciting adventure where campers will work in teams to build and program LEGO® MINDSTORM EV3 robots. Amusement Park AnticsJuly 17 – 21Campers will don their hard hats and work as engineers to design, build and test roller coasters. They will test drive customized mouse-trap cars and create the ultimate drop zone experience with an egg as the payload! Warning: constructing knowledge of Newton's Laws of Motion and how forces work has never been more amusing!

STAR Readers “Moonbase Crisis”July 31 – Aug 4Seeking readers with a love for space science! Campers will enjoy interactive activities based on the plot of the book, Star Challengers Moonbase Crisis. They will build and launch various rockets, program LEGO® lunar-bots, and participate in an exciting iMISSION, our interactive simulation where campers take on the role of a scientist/engineer living and working on a lunar base! (Note: A copy of the book will be provided for camper’s use during the session.)

Get Your Game On II (Video Game Design)July 10 – 14Campers continue their Scratch programming journey begun in “Get Your Game On” as they learn and apply advanced animation techniques and tricks to create higher level computer games. They will boost their programming prowess as they create, share and play more complex games! (Previous Scratch programming experience is vital.)

TETRIX® Robotics “Tackling the Basics”July 17 – 21 Campers will attack ROBOTC programming basics with the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT robot controller. Experiences are expanded as they build a heavy-duty TETRIX® robot using aircraft grade aluminum parts and powerful drive motors. Campers that are serious about engineering or programming will enjoy tackling autonomous and remote control challenges.
