PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICEThese activities will enable your assessor to examine your competence by observing you carrying out workplace activities. This will include asking related questions to test your underpinning knowledge. Your assessor will agree when they can visit you at your workplace to observe these activities.

Demonstration of hand washing and use of personal protective equipment.

This observational opportunity is designed to allow you to show how you take responsibility for your personal hygiene and how you prevent the spread of infection and protect yourself. You should plan for your assessor to observe you carrying out a task that requires the use of personal protective equipment. Your assessor will want to see you putting on the protective equipment and disposing of it after its use. You should also ensure your assessor can see you following the correct procedure for hand washing.

After the observation your assessor will ask you to answer the following questions.

• How did your use of the personal protective equipment comply with its correct application, use, removal and disposal?

• How did your hand-washing process comply with the correct sequence?

• What are the correct procedures for skincare?
