Fourth Grade – Good Choices – Let’s

Smile!• We are very excited about our

behavior and classroom management plan for this year! This is a level system. There are 3 levels, with Level 3 offering the most privileges and Level 1 offering the fewest privileges. All students will begin the school year at Level 2.

• To progress from Level 1 to Level 2, students must have 2 “good days” in a row.

• To progress from Level 2 to Level 3, students must have 6 “good days” in a row.

• To go down levels, students will have had two “bad days” or have performed a serious incident or offense.

• If a student is already on Level 1, they may receive extra days to progress to the next level if they have continued classroom incidents or offenses.

• A “good day” is a day in which your child receives one check or less for that day. An “OK day” is a day in which your child receives two checks for that day. A “bad day” is a day in which your child receives more than two checks for that day.

• If a child changes to a new level, it will also be marked in the chart. Agendas must be signed daily or your child may have to move down a Level. You must look at the behavioral chart before you sign the agenda. When we see your signature we will assume that you have seen the behavior chart, as well as any written notes.

• Incidents or offenses that would receive a check include: not having homework, breaking a class or school rule, continued class disruptions, profanity, failing to get your agenda signed when you did not have a “good day”, and failing to get your agenda signed two days in a row. Students already on Level 1 may receive extra days on that Level as a result of continued incidents or offenses.

• Serious or repeated offenses may require a student to move down a level, regardless of how many checks they have for the day.

Homework All homework must be completed by the day that it is due (most likely the very next school day after it is assigned). If it is not complete in entirety, your child will complete it during recess detention and lose a star. It is very important that your child completes homework – this is practice from what was taught that day in class. Any student missing more than 2 assignments will not participate in “Fun Friday”.

Signed papers All papers are handed out to students on the TUESDAY of every week. Please look at your child’s papers and sign them. They are due back by Thursday. There will be two slips of paper (one from Ms. Bethea and one from Mrs. Biggs) that will let you know if they need extra help and what their behavior has been like that week in class. Please return both of these slips signed. You may keep the graded papers.
