There are many people in 4-H are ready and willing to help you as a new family in the program. We are here to help: Local 4-H Club You can contact your club leader or another family in your club. County 4-H Office You can contact the Outagamie County ExtensionOffice.Askforthecounty4-HProgram Coordinatororstaff,whoareresponsible for administering the county 4-H program. County 4-H Leaders Association OutagamieCountyalsohasanorganizationof volunteers which supports the 4-H program.

Therearemanywaysforyourfamilytobeinvolvedin4-H,beactiveinyourclub,participateinclubmeetings,eventsandactivities.Therearemanycountyeventsandactivitiesas well that your family will enjoy. Watch for information in your county 4-H Connections Newsletter. Just a few ofthemanywaystogetinvolvedinclude:speaking,demonstrations,camps,tripsandtours,4-Hprojectworkshopsandcountyfair.

Youth may need adult encouragement to stay involved in 4-H. Many adults become 4-H leaders when their children join4-H.Allleadersappreciateanyassistanceparentscan give. If you decide that you do want to become a leader,youwillneedtobeapprovedthroughtheYouthProtectionprocess.Askthe4-HProgramCoordinatororcontacttheExtensionOfficeformoreinformation.

Adultscanhelpby: SharingTakeaninterestinachild’s4-Hprojectsandactivities.Listen,lookandoffersuggestions,butdon’t“takeover.”Learningbydoingisthe4-Hway.Achildlearnsbymakingmistakesandsuccesses. Preparing Help a child understand the value of projects and presentationsdonewellandontime.Helpachild understand the importance of follow through. Being ThereAchildwillgainmorefrom4-Hbyregularattendanceatclubmeetingsandinvolvementin4-Hactivities.Attendmeetingswiththem.Gettoknowthe4-Hclub leader. Lend a hand whenever you can.

Understanding 4-H ProjectsWhatisa4-HProject?A4-Hprojectismadeupofthreetypesofactivities: Hands-on activities:making,producing,practicing,observing,testing,interviewing,caringfor,etc. Organized activities:demonstrations,workshops,camps,countyjudging,projectactivities,exhibits,etc. Leadership/Citizenship activities: conducting,planning,teaching,assisting,informing,organizing,etc.

Are 4-H Members required to sign up for a project?Yes,allmembersmustsignupforatleastoneproject.

How does a member select a project?Whenchoosingaproject,consideryourinterests,background,whatisnecessarytostartyourproject,andwhatisavailabletohelpyoucompleteit.Reviewthisguideasafamily,club,orgroup.Agoodruleofthumbistoselectnomorethantwoprojectsasafirst-yearmember.Countyfairsandthestatefairoftenhaveagerequirementsdifferentthanthoseforprojectenrollment.Whenparticipatinginafairevent,besureto review the related guidelines.

4-H Enrollment Guidelines

4-H at County Fair TheOutagamieCountyFairisheldeachyearinJuly.Itisatimewhen4-Hmembershaveanopportunitytoshowtheresultsoftheirlearningandefforts.Itisalsoachancetomeetother members from across the county and share experiences and ideas with them.

ParticipationattheFairisnotrequiredbythecounty,butmembersthatchoosenottoparticipatearemissinganexcellentopportunityforadditionalfun,enrichment,andlearning.All4-H’ersareencouragedtoparticipateinFair,ifpossible.

ToparticipateintheFair,thechildmustbeenrolledbyDecember31forbothnewmembersandreenrolling members withtheExtensionOutagamieCounty.Manyprojectshaveeducationalrequirementsoropportunitiesthatoccurearlyin the calendar year.

FairentryformsaredueinMay.FormoreinformationconcerningtheFair,consulttheFairPremiumBook.

Literature/Curriculum Severalprojectshavehelpful,informativeliteratureweencourageyoutoeitherpickupfromtheExtensionofficeorpurchasefromNational4-HSupplyserviceathttps://shop4-h.org/.

PleasenotethattheExtensionofficehasalimitedamountofliteratureavailableinsomeprojectareas.Therefore,contacttheExtensionofficeforthemostuptodateinventoryavailable.

Volunteer Leaders Ifthereareseveralprojectswithinaprojectandyou’realeaderforonlyone,thenchoosethatone.

Forexample,ifyou’reaShootingSportsleaderforjustArchery,chooseArchery.You’llneedtomakemorethanoneentryifyou’realeaderformorethanoneproject.Forexample,ifyou’reaShootingSportsleaderforArcheryandRiflechoose both.

Grade Requirements• 4-HgradeisdeterminedasofSeptember1st of the current year• Cloverbuds – Youth entering 5K through 2nd grade is eligible only for the Cloverbud project. • Members – Youth entering 3rdgradethroughoneyearbeyondhighschoolgraduationuptoage19asof

December31.• Graduation-Youthmaygraduatefollowinghighschoolgraduationoroneyearafterhighschoolgraduation.• Home-schooling–Childrenwhoarehomeschooledwillparticipatein4-Hintheirdeclaredgrade.

Enrollment Process• New enrollment willbeacceptedatanytimeduringtheyear,howevertobeeligibletoexhibitatthecounty

juniorfair,newenrollmentmustbecompletedbyDecember31.• Re-enrollmentmustbesubmittedbyDecember31.Once re-enrollment is submitted online, a project cannot

be added or changed after December 31.• County Fair - Youth may only exhibit at the county fair in the projects they are enrolled in for the current year. • Parents/Guardiansshoulddouble-checkallinformationin4HOnlinebeforesubmittingtheirenrollmenttobe

surethatallinformationisaccurateandcomplete.

Enrolling in 4HOnline as a NEW Family TO GET STARTED:

Go to https://wi.4honline.com (there is no www in the address). Click on “I need to set up a profile”, and fill in boxes.

Email address entered will be the family email address. Click “Create Login”.

This will take you to your Family Information Page.

Fill in your personal information to create a family profile. *Do NOT check the “update member records with the same address”

Click “Continue”. This takes you to your Member List Page.

In the drop down box under “Add a New Family Member”, select “youth” or “adult”. Click “Add Member”.

If entering a YOUTH or Adult:

Fill out Youth’s/Adult’s Personal Information. If s/he has a different email address, replace the family email.

Click “Continue”.

This takes you to Additional Information Page. Complete the Youth 7 or Adult 8 authorizations:

o Assumption of Risk o Hold Harmless, Indemnity and Release o Consent for Emergency Treatment o Code of Conduct (Youth) o Volunteer Behavior Expectations

Agreement (Adult)

This takes you to the Health Form Page. This is optional, but in the future, you may be asked to complete, if required for an activity/event.

Update the date on the bottom. Click “Continue”. This takes you to a Volunteer Screening Page. (Adult)

Click “I am applying to be a Extension volunteer and acknowledge and understand that my record will be checked. This occurs every 4 years.

Click Continue

This takes you to the Clubs/Projects/Groups Page. Select the Club from the drop down list. Click “Add Club”. Click “Continue”. On the Projects Tab, select a project for this member, and enter years involved (first year

members enter “1”). Click “Add project”. Repeat steps above for additional projects. After you entered all of your projects, click “Submit

Enrollment” – and you are done! If there is another youth/adult member(s) in your family, repeat the process starting at Member List Page.

4-H Re-Enroll Members/Leaders

TO GET STARTED:

Log into 4HOnline at https://wi.4honline.com (there is no www in the address).

Click on:

Click on then find who you wish to re-enroll, click after his/her name.

RE-ENROLL:

At the bottom of the next screen, click the button, “Enroll for 2019-2020”.

Look over the Personal Information screen, and make any corrections. Click “Continue”.

On the Additional Information screen, complete information. Click “Continue”.

The Health Form is optional, but in the future, you may be asked to complete, if required for an activity/event. Update the date on the bottom. Click “Continue”.

On the Club List screen, confirm the correct club is listed. Click “Continue”.

(ADULTS ONLY) If you serve in a volunteer role (but not as a project leader) click “Edit” and select volunteer type. Click Update to save the change.

On the Projects List screen, confirm all projects you wish to enroll in are listed. Click “Submit

Enrollment”. Add any missing projects. If dropping a project, click “Edit” the project, then “Delete”.

Volunteer:

If you see the Volunteer Screening page, you need to check over the questions and update. This is for the background checks which are completed every four years. Click “Continue”.
