Monthly summary on the principal activities of Ministry of Housingand Urban Affairs for the month of October, 2019

I. Swachh Bharat Mission

i. 1.56 crore citizens are registered on the Swachhata App, 1.77crore complaints have been registered out of which more than93 % complaints have been resolved.

ii. Rs. 67.84 lakh has been released to the States during themonth.

iii. On Swachh Bharat Helpline (1969), for all issues related to SwachhBharat, 5.0 lakh+ calls have been answered with an averagehandling time of 1 minute 28 seconds.

iv. A total of 4,320 cities/ towns has been declared as ODF (OpenDefecation Free), 684 cities have been certified as ODF+ and 284cities have been certified as ODF++.

v. 57,000 toilet across 2,300 cities are live on Google Maps with thename of "SBM Toilet".

vi. 48 cities have been registered on Swachh Nagar Mobile App so far.

vii. As on date 8,100 Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVP) have beenmapped, out of which 711 are being monitored. 326 citiescomprising of 1,920 active wards are using this module. TheSwachh Survekshan 2020 has a dedicated indicator on monitoringand transformation of GVPs.

viii. 'Swachh Manch' is the citizen engagement platform where 1.52lakh events are conducted and 7 .07 crore people participated.About 13,254 Metric Tonne of plastic waste collected, 5,318 MetricTonne has been sent to recyclers and about 7,792 Metric Tonne hasbeen sent to Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA) forprocessing.

ix. Swachhata Hi Seva India Plog Run was launched at India Gate, NewDelhi to commemorate the 150" birth anniversary of the Father ofthe Nation and to spread awareness on the harmful effects ofplastic waste and enlist the support of citizens to eliminate singleuse plastic (SUP). Delhi Cyclists Plog Run was also launched. TheIndia Plog Run was held in 50 cities across India by United Way ofIndia and Go Native with active support from the Ministry andwitnessed participation of over 1 lakh people.

x. The Vibrant Goa Global Expo Summit held between 17-19 October2019 which had over 500 delegates and representatives from over52 nations was a zero waste and plastic free event cutting downsingle-use plastic, disposable items and non-biodegradablematerials. Hon'ble Prime Minister has appreciated this initiative bycalling it as "thoughtful".

xi. Navi Mumbai became fourth city after Indore, Mysuru andAmbikapur to receive 5 Star Certification under Star Rating Protocolfor Garbage Free Cities. The number of cities with 3 StarCertification is 67.

xii. A unique collaboration took place between Bhopal MunicipalCorporation (BMC) and Mahashakti Seva Kendra for#MakingCitiesPlasticFree by turning Flex Boards into vegetablemultipurpose bags. This not only led to reduction of plastic waste butalso generated livelihood opportunities for around 100 women fromlow income communities who are earning around Rs. 2000 permonth from this initiative. They plan to manufacture around 10,000bags every month.

xiii. Under Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2020, 33 SS 2020 workshops havebeen conducted with the involvement of over 12,000 participantsincluding regional Principal Secretary (UD), State Mission Director(SBM), Deputy Directors and Municipal Commissioners.

xiv. A series of 50 exposure workshops in partnership with NationalInstitute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) has been organised in 18 States.Alongwith this, 10 orientation workshops have been scheduled forMayors/ Chairpersons/ Councillors with focus on various activitiesunder Swachh Bharat Mission i.e. Wastewater and SustainableSanitation and mainstreaming of Sanitary Workers and inclusion ofinformal workers etc.

II. Smart Cities Mission

i. Work has been completed in 51 projects worth Rs. 769 crore, workwas started for 85 projects worth Rs. 2,602 crore and tenderingwas started in 54 projects worth Rs. 1,149 crore. With this, 1,285projects worth Rs. 22,566 crore have been completed, 2,051projects worth Rs. 82,360 crore are currently underimplementation and 780 projects worth Rs. 42,904 crore are undertendering.

ii. Completion of One City One Impact programme in Smart Cities:The initiatives covered 5 key themes of Cleanliness, Economy &Governance, Environment, Inclusion and Water & Sanitation. Someof the key achievements were: plantation of 1,00,000+ trees,restoration/ redevelopment of more than 100 public spaces,development of 80+ smart classrooms, construction of 100+community/ public toilets, deployment of 2,00,000+ bins,installation of 60,000+ LED lights and installation of 200 TPD ofwaste processing facility. The projects resulted in direct/ in-directbenefit to more than 2.5 lakh citizens.

III. Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation(AMRUT)

i. State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) to the tune of Rs. 77,640 crorehave been finalized for all the States. Detailed project reports forprojects costing Rs. 82,406 crore have been approved. 2,152projects worth Rs. 6,512 crore have been completed, work is inprogress for 3,091 projects worth Rs. 65,573 crore, 263 projectsworth Rs. 5,878 crore are under tendering and DPRs worth Rs.6,258 crore are under preparation.

ii. So far, Rs. 22,834 crore has been released to States/UTs towardsproject implementation, Administrative & Office Expenses, ReformIncentive and for formulation of GIS based Master Plans & LocalArea Plan (LAP) and Town Planni ng Schemes (TPS).

IV. Deendaya! Antyodaya Yojana / National UrbanLivelihood Mission (DAY/NULM)

i. A total of Rs. 79.97 crore has been released during themonth.

ii. 6,876 Self Help Groups (SHGs) were formed, 3,636 SHGs weregiven Revolving Fund, 14,209 candidates were skill trained andcertified, 3,218 trained candidates were given placement, 4,925beneficiaries were assisted with loans for setting up of individualand micro enterprises, and 23,840 loans were given to SHGs underSHG-Bank linkage programme.

V. Pradan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)/ Housing for All(HFA)

i. A total of Rs. 45.86 crore has been released during the month.

ii. More than 93 lakh dwelling units in 19,471 projects with aninvestment of Rs. 5,55,754 crore involving Central assistance of Rs.1,45,949 crore have been approved under PMAY. So far, 55 lakhhouses have been grounded for construction, 28.02 lakh houseshave already been constructed and 25.55 lakh houses have beenoccupied.

iii. The construction of dwelling units for the States of Andhra Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Nagaland &Puducherry has been approved.

VI. Housing

i. 30 States/ UTs have notified rules under RERA; 4 North EasternStates namely Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkimare under process to notify the rules under RERA.

ii. 29 States/UTs have set up Real Estate Regulatory Authority(Regular - 21, Interim - 08).

iii. 23 States/UTs have set up Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (Regular ­14, Interim - 09).

iv. Regulatory Authorities of 24 States/UTs have operationalised theirwebsites under the provisions of RERA.

v. 1,106 projects and 810 agents have been registered in month ofOctober, 2019 across the country. So far, 46,198 projects and36,421 agents have been registered under RERA.

VII. NBCC

i. An MoU was signed between NBCC (India) Ltd. And ConstrictionSkill Development Council (CSDC) for engaging Apprentice Traineesin NBCC.

ii. NBCC (India) Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) withDepartment of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports fordevelopment of Nationalworth Rs. 400 crore.

iii.A final dividend of Rs. 77.14 crore was paid to Government.

VIII. Others

i. A mobile App "mHariyali" was launched on 11.10.2019 byDirectorate of Estate to encourage public engagement in plantingtrees and other such green drives. People can upload information/photos of any plantation done by them through the App which willbe displayed on website www.epgc.gov.in. The plantation will begeo-tagged and status of plants can be monitored in future.
