A collective year-end review of the Deer Management Program is conducted at the conclusion of the Fiscal Year with ourpartners at the Fairfax County Park Authority, Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, Fairfax County Department of PublicWorks and Environmental Services (Urban Forest Management Division), and the Fairfax County Health Department. In the absence of a county wildlife biologist, we have coordinated with the regional biologist from the Virginia Department ofGame and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) to solicit input regarding our programs. We are also coordinating with experts on deer management in order to enhance the safety and efficiency of our sharpshooter program. In an ongoing effort to establish clear goals which also allow an assessment of the effectiveness of our programs, we areworking with our partners to establish a set of clear and measurable goals designed to measure both the effectiveness of thedeer management program and its long term sustainability.
