PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Christian Knight made 14 saves and Jeff Teat became just the third rookie in the history of the Ivy League to reach 60 points, but Brown freshman goalie Phil Goss stopped 14 shots, including seven in the final quarter, to hold off a furious Big Red comeback, as the Bears held on for a 13-10 victory at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Teat finished the game with three goals and four assists, his fifth straight game with at least five points. Jordan Dowiak tallied two goals and three assists, while Clarke Pet-terson added one goal and two assists to keep the team’s longest point-scoring streak alive at 10 games. In total, seven different Big Red registered at least one point, as Cornell assisted on 9-of-10 goals. Brown was led by the reigning Tewaaraton Trophy award winner, Dylan Molloy, with four goals and three assists. Luke McCaleb finished with three goals and Stephen Hudak and Michael Penepinto tallied two goals apiece. After trailing by one at halftime, Cornell knotted the game at 7-7 just two minutes into the third quarter on a goal from Jake McCulloch. Brown won the ensuing face-off and scored just 38 seconds later to take the lead for good. Teat tallied two goals early in the fourth to cut Brown’s lead to 12-10 with 7:44 to play, but Goss made several incredible saves, including two in the final three minutes, and Molloy tacked on a late empty net goal to seal the win. Brown won 22-of-27 face-offs, with Ted Ottens taking 21-of-26, but despite that lop-sided advantage the Bears had just two extra ground balls (40-38). Both teams turned the ball over 20 times on a rain soaked afternoon with Cornell having 11 caused turnovers to the Bears’ 10. Walt Gahagan and Marshall Peters led the Big Red with two apiece. Cornell cleared the ball 25-of-28 times and held Brown to a 20-of-26 performance, with one failed clear leading directly to a goal from Petterson.

FASTEST TO 100: • With 100 points in 18 career games, Jeff Teat scored 100 career points faster than any other four-year player in Cornell or Ivy League history. • In NCAA history, the 18 games matches Tim Nelson (NC State/SU), who also did it in 18 games from 1982-83. • Rob Pannell tallied his 100th career point in his 25th career game with the Big Red during his sophomore season in 2010. • Michael French ’76 (16 games) and Eamon McEneaney ’77 (19 games) regis-tered their 100th career point in fewer games than Pannell, but due to NCAA rules that prohibited freshmen from playing varsity sports, both accomplished the feat in their junior season. • Teat is the 42nd player in Cornell history to amass 100 career points.

THE PETTERSON-TEAT CONNECTION:• Clarke Petterson and Jeff Teat both attended The Hill Academy.• Of Petterson’s 74 points since 2017, nearly half (35) have involved Teat.• Teat has assisted on 19 of Petterson’s 46 goals since 2017. • Of Petterson’s 29 assists since 2017, 16 have come on goals by Teat.
