From the Principal Once again, students at Mt Druitt enjoyed C Factor day. Both stu-dents and teachers performed and audience participation was high! A special thanks goes to Mrs Sharp and Miss Hawley, as their work and dedication resulted in an enjoyable fun-filled day for all. While in the same week, our Year 10 students sat for the inaugu-ral Chifley Exam for year 10, with numerous teachers across the college who designed and marked the exam. Proudly, I can say that Mt Druitt students performed exceedingly well. Our stu-dents showed respect and diligence in the exam and this was re-flected in their results Cathy Anderson Principal

Mt Druitt Matters
Year 6-7 Orientation Will be held December 5th 2012. Please be
aware this event will begin in the hall at 9.30am. We look forward to meeting all of the parents and students.
This newsletter article will be the last one before Year 10 graduation. Below is a table of important dates for Year 10 students to become familiar with. I look forward to celebrating the formal evening with year 10 students and trust that it will be a night to remember for all involved and I’ve been practicing my dance moves… so watch out year 10! Graduation occurs on Friday morning the 7th of December, a friendly reminder to all stu-dents graduating that you MUST be in full school uniform or you will not be allowed on stage. For girls this means NO tights without skirts, and for the boys, NO football shorts please. I wish you all every success with your college exam and congratulate you all on your pend-ing graduation. It has been an honour to represent and support you as your teacher and Year Adviser and I am incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such an inspiring cohort of students. Well done Year 10, you have made it through 4 years of high school. All the very best for your future. Mrs Saunders.

Our year 7 students have well and truly explored the world of science. They had the amazing opportunity to have some great hands-on experi-ence at the science expo held at Chifley College Mt Druitt. Activities included slime making, close up interactions with stick insects, microscope observations, discoveringappearing and disappearing ink, traf-fic lights, elephant’s toothpaste and amazing dry ice power. The show was run by our very talented year 9 students from Chifley Col-leges. It was a fun filled day and the students gained a lot from it. A very sincere thanks to all the year 9 student demonstrators for showing such leadership skills. A special thanks to all the year 7 students for being safe and respectful citi-zens at the expo.

The workshop gave students an opportunity to learn first hand her tips for writing. Deb explained how she gets ideas for her books and each student undertook several short writing exercises in a day filled with writing, discussion and sharing. Deb is the online author for the Term 4 Fiction with a twist blog at http://rapblog13.edublogs.org/. LEAPS Graduation
On Thursday night, Year 9 LEAPS students attended the LEAPS Graduation Cere-mony. All students made a speech on the night. It is not an easy thing to get up and speak in front of teachers, parents and lawyer mentors, but all students did an outstanding job and should be very proud. Students also entertained their mentors with the LEAPS version of Bruno Mars “Count on Me”. A special thanks to Jack and Bernie who did a fantastic job backstage, making presentation and music transitions seamless. Also, thanks to Jack for saying a speech on behalf of an absent student. All LEAPS students have been outstanding and have made it a fantastic year for everyone involved.
