TEACH, LEARN, GROWSummer Adventures offers children unique, hands-on, activity-based learning experiences. Students will discover hidden talents and new interests in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Ages: Grades K-12. Please note age requirements for each class. Grade levels are based on grade entering Fall 2019.

CLASS LOCATIONS:

DAILY DISMISSAL Children must be picked up promptly when class ends. Students who walk to and from class must have a letter from their parent/guardian. Students who carpoolmust have a written letter with all names of parents and students involved.

REFUNDS NO REFUND if you cancel on the day class begins. NO REFUNDS will be made after the class has started, re-gardless of attendance.

CANCELLED CLASSESLimited enrollment will fill some classes quickly and low enrollment will cancel others. Please register early. If regis-tered in a class that is cancelled, you will receive a full refund or transfer to another class. When classes are can-celled due to severe weather, every ef-fort will be made to reschedule.

BROADWAY BOOTCAMPAges 5-17. Broadway Bootcamp is a dynamic program designed to build and improve the self-confidence of participants through musical theatre performance. Participants are encouraged to focus their energy in a creative manner and explore self-expression through acting, music, and movement. Broadway Bootcamp participants learn the basics of musical theatre performance and choreography and then put them together with the assistance of the facilitator to perform their own scene, song, and dance from a Broadway show. It is a high-energy, engaging experience for anyone, no matter their level of stage experience.

The variety of daily games and exercises allow participants to discover their hidden talents and expand upon their natural gifts and creativity. The guided instruction provides a structure so participants can present what they have learned in a comfortable, confident manner.

The primary goal: promote a healthy interest in the performing arts while providing a safe environment for participants to recognize and develop their talents and self-expression.Instructor: Jacqui Robinson (Bernhardt)

Be sure to register for this camp early to receive a discount! The cost of the camp includes a Broadway Bootcamp t-shirt. Monday–Thursday, children attend sessions with their age group. A TRIP TO THE ZOO! Ages: 3–Pre K. (Campers must be potty-trained) Welcome to the zoo! There are so many amazing animals in the world, and zoos allow us to learn all about them and see them up close. Children will go wild for fun facts about some amazing animals and build them using DUPLO™ blocks. It will feel just like a trip to the zoo! They will prac-tice letter recognition, size comparison, shape and color identifica-tion, counting, placement vocabulary, and patterning. BEGINNING YOUTH FENCINGAges 7–15. Modern fencing is an Olympic sport with roots in European sword fighting of centuries past. Today, fencing is a competitive sport of strategy, finesse, skill, and endurance. Fencing offers children and teens a positive physical activity, and teaches life skills such as confidence, focus, decision making, and respect along with improving balance, flexibility and mental agility. In beginning fencing classes, students learn the fundamentals with games, exercises, footwork, and bouting with fellow novice fencers with all equipment provided. Professional coaches, Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov, both of whom are former Soviet Champions and US Cadets and Junior National team coaches are instructors. Students should wear sweat pants (no jeans), a t-shirt, and clean athletic shoes with laces. Equipment will be provided. School Age ProgramsBefore and After School Care (BAC)Our BAC programs in each of the RPS elementary schools provide parents with the security of knowing their children are in a safe, fun and nurturing environment before and after school hours. BAC is offered every day that school is in session, as well as on teacher in-service and conference days. BAC is also offered on some school vacation days. Table games, crafts, gym time, outdoor play and homework time are planned each day. Information and registration packets will be available online and in the Child Care Services office beginning May 1. Registration rates increase after August 2, so enroll early! Enrollment prior to 5:00 pm on Friday, August 2 is necessary in order to start BAC the first week of school. Summer School Age ProgramOur “Kids Rock” program is a great way for your child to spend his time off during the summer months! A full summer commitment (June 19–August 8) is necessary for the scheduling and tentative planning needed to run this program. For those who want to explore the sport of swimming to those that are experienced and want to train at the elite level, Rockford Riptide Swim Team, a United States Swimming program, has a place for you!

Spring practices for our Level I program take place Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening with all other groups practicing five days a week including some Saturdays. Summer practices for our Level I program are held Monday-Friday evenings with all other groups being offered AM, PM and Long Course training time. Summer session will run through final qualifying meet.
