Course Selection involves
Six elective offerings – students are able to choose
across all Year 10 elective offerings. There are no compulsory elective areas. This offers students excellent choice to target their interests and relevant subjects for their particular pathway.
Acceleration opportunities (VCE / VET at Year 10)
Students have the opportunity to undertake a VCE Unit 1/2 Subject or a VET subject. These options take up 2 elective spots out of the 6.
Year 10 - Curriculum StructureAll students are encouraged to consider a VCE / VET Acceleration Study as part of their Course.
Students completing a LOTE, VCE or VET subject will require two elective spots for these.
Due to timetable constraints, a students core class may change from Semester 1 to Semester 2.·

VCE and VET – the advantages
Can be opportunity to enhance your VCE by enabling breadth of subjects.
Can enhance University Entrance (ATAR score) if followed by units 3 & 4 study.
Applicants will gain an insight into the requirements and structure of the VCE System and so be well prepared for VCE the following year
But it can also create anxiety and increased workload.
Must be a carefully considered decision and is not for all students. [strong, independent performing students]
Acceptance into a Unit 1/2 VCE Subject
To be considered for a Unit 1 and 2 subject, Year 9 students will need to demonstrate the following in their Year 9 semester 1 report:
80% average across all learning tasks, in the subject area where the student wishes to accelerate
Being at standard or above standard across all subjects
