What is the “Catch-up Schedule”

• Provides minimum intervals between doses for children whose vaccinations have been delayed

• Some things to note: A vaccine series does not need to be re-started

Use only that section appropriate for a child’s age

Always use the “Catch-up’ schedule in conjunction with 2018 Immunization Schedule

Hepatitis B Vaccine • Intramuscular (IM) injection

• Routine 3-dose series: birth, 1 to 2 months, 6 months

• 4 doses permissible Birth dose plus combination vaccine (DTaP-IPV-HepB) at 2, 4, and 6

months

Hepatitis B Vaccine: Catch-up

• Minimum age for first dose: birth

• Minimum interval between dose 1 and dose #2: 4 weeks

• Minimum interval between dose #2 & dose #3: 8 weeks

AND at least 16 weeks after the first dose

• Final dose (3rd or 4th dose) should be given no earlier than age 24 weeks

• Rotarix® (GSK) – RV1

• If any dose in the series was RotaTeq® or unknown, then give a total of 3 doses.

• Minimum age for first dose: 6 weeks Maximum age for the first dose is 14 weeks, 6 days

• Minimum interval between dose #1 and dose #2: 4 weeks

• Maximum age for the final dose is 8 months

• 2, 4, and 12 through 15 months

Minimum age 6 weeks (see ACIP recommendations for catch-up, minimum intervals and high-risk recommendations).

• Intramuscular (IM injection)

• Routine 4 dose vaccination series:

2 months, 4 months, 6 through 18 months, and 4 through 6 years

Minimum age for first dose: 6 weeks

Final dose should be administered on or after the 4th birthday

• Special situations:

If 4 or more doses are administered before age 4 years, an additional dose should be administered at age 4 through 6 years and at least 6 months after the previous dose
