GENERAL INFORMATION
The Boyertown Area School District will offer several enrichment and academic opportunities this summer.
LOCATIONS: Specific locations are listed with the course description. Camps will be held at Junior
High East (JHE), Gilbertsville Elementary School (GES), Boyertown Elementary School (BES), New
Hanover-Upper Frederick Elementary School (NHUF) and the Senior High School (BASH).
REGISTRATION: The registration process will begin Monday, February 27, 2017 and will end
on Friday, June 2. All registration forms will be available online at www.boyertownasd.org . Summer
classes are self-supporting and courses can only be offered with sufficient enrollment. Most classes
require a minimum of 12 participants to be held.
Payments may be mailed to: Summer Camp Opportunities, Boyertown Area School District, 911
Montgomery Avenue, Boyertown, PA, 19512 or in person at the Education Center. The Education Center is
open from 8:00 am – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
CAMP CONFIRMATION: You will receive a confirmation email a week prior to the beginning
of the camp. This email will confirm the logistics of the camp as well as your child’s registration. Please
check the website regularly for updates on whether or not the camp will run due to registration numbers.
FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE: Checks or money orders are to be made payable to the
Boyertown Area School District. Tuition must be paid in full at the time of registration. Fees will only be
refunded if we cancel the class.
ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to be on time and in attendance for all activity sessions. In
the event of illness or any other unforeseeable absence, please contact either the instructor via email or the
school office.
CONDUCT & DRESS: Students are expected to follow the same rules for Summer Camp classes
as they do during the regular school year. An infraction of the discipline code that warrants a suspension
during the regular school year will mean an automatic expulsion from the Summer Camp Program and tuition
for the class will not be refunded.

SESSION 101: ART FLASHBACK WEEK
Students will learn how to create classic art techniques that were popular in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Each day we will explore a new craft and experiment with fun unique art mediums. By the end of the
week, students will develop crucial skills in hand-eye coordination, patience and creative expression.

SESSIONS 102 & 302: SILLY WACKY SPORTS AND GAME CAMP
Enjoy learning, participating, and playing in various silly team activities, wacky wild games, common
and uncommon sports in an amazing way! Regular games and sports may be played with a “twist”!!!!
Activities could include: wiffle ball, mat ball, scooter relays, obstacle courses, limbo, big ball soccer,
frisbee football, capture the flag, 3 legged race, American eagle, 3 ball soccer, not your regular dodge
ball, castle ball, balloon volleyball, kick ball with a boot, ping pong ball and a nerf football, blindfold
team games, In a Pickle, Balancing Act, tug of war, wacky olympics, and much more! Your idea could
become our next activity! Time for snacks and relaxing included! Last year was a blast, and both
sessions filled up! Hurry and register, you silly and wacky games/sports people!

SESSIONS 103, 203 & 703: DR. CONSTRUCTO’S TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING
CAMP
This camp will introduce the concepts of engineering and STEM to elementary and middle level
students. Students will be exposed to robotics, 3D printing, CNC manufacturing and Solidworks 3D
modeling software. Students will need to provide their own lunch. Please notify the coordinators of
any food allergies or other information to ensure that your child will have a successful week.

SESSIONS 104 & 204: ROBOTICS CAMP
This camp will introduce the concepts of engineering and STEM to high school students. Students will
be exposed to technology and engineering concepts, tools, and materials through solving real world
problems in design and robotics. Arduino and Vex robotics kits will be used.

SESSION 105: THROWING ON THE POTTERY WHEEL
This camp will provide students who are interested in ceramics with more time to create on the pottery
wheel.

SESSION 201: GRAPHICS CAMP
This camp will teach the basics of the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash. Campers
will have hands on experience using the latest digital creative software and learn about free software
that can be accessed from home.

SESSIONS 202 & 902: THE FUNdamentals OF BASKETBALL
Campers will learn and practice the FUNdamentals of basketball. Campers will compete in various
competitions including 3 on 3 games, 5 on 5 games, and skill competitions. Come join us and get out
of the house and have some fun in the gym running around, being loud and crazy, eating snacks, and
playing basketball! We will also be doing some crazy basketball including crazy shot, crazy run, crazy
half court, and so on!!!

SESSIONS 205, 301 & 701: STEM CAMP
This camp will bring awareness to early elementary school kids about the fields of STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering & Math), and ignite an interest in these fields by allowing students to
participate in a variety of learning experiences including robotics, programming, and video creation.

SESSION 303: DRAWING PORTFOLIO OPEN STUDIO
Drawing studio focusing on skills and techniques required for college portfolios.

SESSION 304: RUNNING OF THE CUBS
Learn to run faster, further, and with more confidence. We will focus on the basics of body
positioning, stride, pacing, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques through a variety of running
games and activities.

SESSIONS 401 & 501: AUDITION CENTRAL
Learn the ropes of auditioning for musicals while singing & acting your way through some of
Broadway’s all-time favorite shows!

SESSION 402: ENDURANCE WORKSHOP
Increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance level through a variety of running and strength
training activities. We will also cover the principles of exercise training and help you design a personal
fitness plan that fits your goals. This workshop is designed to meet the specific needs of each
participant regardless of current fitness level.

SESSION 403: DISCOVERY TENNIS CAMP
This camp is a great way for kids to enjoy the sport of tennis! Participants will develop correct
technique, etiquette, and game play. This fast, dynamic game is for all ages. Camp is loaded with fun
activities suggested by USTA.
Students may supply their own racquet. Tennis racquets are available to borrow if needed.

Location: Junior High East tennis courts (If it rains, the camp will be held in the Junior High East

SESSION 404: MOSAIC TILE ART
Collaboratively, students will create two installation pieces to be hung on the walls of NHUF
Elementary. They will also be creating their own miniature mosaic tile art to take home at the end of
camp.

SESSION 601: VETERANS DAY SALUTE PREPARATION
East/West Show Choir members will get acquainted and learn music for their fall combined
performance at the Rotary Club’s annual Veterans Day Salute as well as the 2017-18 County Chorus
audition piece.

SESSION 602: FIELD HOCKEY – SKILLS, DRILLS AND THRILLS
Our aim is to introduce girls to the sport of field hockey and have participants increase their enjoyment
for the sport through a variety games and activities.
Participants will need to supply their own stick, mouth guard, goggles and shin guards.

Location: Junior High East Hockey Field (If it rains, the camp will be held in the JHE gymnasium.)

SESSION 702: ART FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Each day students will discover art from a different country and explore the culture and art created in
the country.
Monday: Africa – Students will create African inspired masks, weavings, jewelry and paintings.
Tuesday: Australia – Students will create Australian inspired bark paintings and rain sticks.
Wednesday: Asia – Students will create Japanese lanterns, Chinese scroll and Koinorbori fish kite.
Thursday: Native American – Students will create a Navajo rug, talking stick, macrame belts and jewelry.

SESSION 801: SEW EASY AND FUN
Learn the practical art of sewing by hand. Students will create soft sculptures and design and construct
a small personal soft handbag as well as a cool key ring. Other fun new projects will be offered too.

SESSION 901: FUN WITH PAINT
Learn how to mix colors and use a variety of painting techniques with tempera paint. Get cool results
with unusual painting tools such as masking tape, sponges, and marbles, to name a few. Subject matter
will include animal portraits, landscapes, and abstraction.
