THE MAXWELL VIEW

The Maxwell Football Club has had over three-quarters of a century selecting the promising talent of tomorrow with educated accuracy. Recognizing talented players at the earliest stages of their careers has been a Maxwell standard. In fact a majority

of our Maxwell Award winners have experienced continued success at the professional level with several going on to be legends of the game.

The Maxwell Football Club is the first organization to honor football from beginner to professional. The Maxwell Football Club first presented its namesake award in 1937. In 1959, following the death of its founder Bert Bell, The Maxwell Football Club’s Professional Player of the Year Award was instituted and christened the Bert Bell Trophy. The inaugural presentation of the Jim Henry Award to the Tri-State High School Player of the Year in 1985 and the addition of The National High School Player in 2007, the Maxwell Football Club solidified its status as the preeminent organization with a keen view of excellence at all levels of football.

RECENT WINNERS:2016 Connor Barwin, Philadelphia Eagles

The NFL community is one of the nation’s largest contributors of charitable service, yet often times the performances are overshadowed by issues that garner national attention. This is why business partners Cosmo DeNicola and Leigh Steinberg thought it was important to create an award that recognized the community and charitable service that characterizes the lives of people involved with the NFL Community.

The Steinberg DeNicola Humanitarian award has historically been presented to deserving members of the NFL community at the annual Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl party. This year, DeNicola and Steinberg are proud to unveil the Humanitarian Award at Maxwell Football Club’s 80th Anniversary gala.

2017 RECIPIENT CONNOR BARWIN Since arriving in Philadelphia, Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin has been a big supporter of the Eagles Youth Partnership, a charity which serves low-income children within the Philadelphia area. In December of 2013, he founded the Make the World Better Foundation (MTWB), which builds and rehabilitates parks to provide safe and fun spaces for outdoor athletic and artistic play. MTWB believes that communities prosper when young people have access to athletics and the arts.

MTWB is dedicated to raising funds through innovative and creative ways. In June 2016, Barwin hosted his third annual MTWB Concert, raising $200,000. In 2014 and 2015, the foundation raised $700,000 for the renovation of South Philadelphia’s Ralph Brooks Park, was featured in NFL Films Presents: The Street Eagle.
