2017 Middle School Honor Band Clinic November 16 – November 18, 2017 Limestone College is proud to announce the 4th Annual Limestone College Honor Band Clinic exclusively for Middle School musicians. This clinic developed from the overwhelming positive response from Middle School band directors, and their desire to submit their students to this unique opportunity. As before, the clinic is FREE to selected members! Honor Band members will be selected from a list of nominated students provided by students’ Band Director. Honor Band members MUST be nominated by their band director to be considered for the clinic. Chairs will be determined by audition. This year, the clinicians will be: Gold Band Clinician Mr. Mike Doll, Band Director, Palmetto Christian Academy Blue Band Clinician Mr. Jocquin Fuller, Band Director, Charlotte Latin School It is our intention to have the selected music available through SmartMusic. When students have been notified of their selection into the Middle School Honor Band Clinic, they will be provided information regarding SmartMusic, allowing the possibility to see the program titles, and begin practicing prior to the MSHB Clinic. What Honor Band members receive: As with every year, this will be an once-in-a-lifetime experience to perform art with musicians never assembled before at Limestone College. Selected members for the 2017 Middle School Honor Band Clinic will receive quality instruction, a Friday lunch and dinner, an honor band t-shirt, a free concert, and the opportunity to perform with students from around the Southeast region of the United States! How to be selected into the Honor Band: To be eligible for consideration, student nominees must be: Currently enrolled in grades 6 – 8 Recommended by their Director Available for the entire clinic event; no requested absence will be approved. Directors will NOMINATE your talented students using this form for the 2017 MSHB Clinic. Please be certain that they are eligible for consideration as indicated above. Nominees must be listed in order of their performance skills, with the strongest player listed first. The Limestone College Middle School Honor Bands Clinic is designed for the more proficient and experienced instrumentalists. It is assumed director will nominate his/her most capable players. We guarantee that we will accept a minimum of two students from every school provided the nomination form includes at least one brass and one woodwind player, and the form is received on or before OCTOBER 13 TH . Nominations that arrive after OCTOBER 13 TH will be considered only if there is a need for additional personnel to balance instrumentation. NOMINATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 13 th , 2017

  • The TENTATIVE schedule is listed below. A campus map and directions to Limestone College are available on the web, if needed. The BAND HALL or “Downtown Campus” is located at 101 North Granard Street, across the street from Hardee’s, less than a mile from the main campus. This building is exclusive to Limestone College, primarily the Department of Music, and is equipped with magnetic-lock doors for extra security. Transportation must be provided by the chaperones of the middle school students – Limestone cannot be responsible for the transportation.

    THURSDAY Schedule: Dinner – please eat prior to arrival! 6:00pm CHECK IN at Fullerton Auditorium 6:30pm ORIENTATION (Fullerton Auditorium) 7:00pm REHEARSALS BEGIN: Gold Honor Band – BAND HALL (transportation needed) Blue Honor Band – Fullerton Auditorium 9:00pm REHEARSALS END FRIDAY Schedule: Breakfast – on your own 10:00am REHEARSALS BEGIN (breaks throughout): Gold Honor Band – BAND HALL (please drop off here!) Blue Honor Band – Fullerton Auditorium 12:00am LUNCH at the BAND HALL provided by Limestone College Blue Honor Band – transportation needed to BAND HALL 1:00 pm REHEARSALS RESUME (breaks throughout): Gold Honor Band – BAND HALL Blue Honor Band – transportation needed to FULLERTON AUDITORIUM 3:30pm BREAK – (Water & Fruit provided by The NAfME Chapter at LC) 4:00pm RESUME REHEARSALS

    5:30pm DINNER at the BAND HALL provided by Limestone College Blue Honor Band – transportation needed to BAND HALL 6:00pm FEATURE PERFORMANCE at the BAND HALL: Limestone College iPan Ensemble (Steel Drums) 6:30pm DISMISSED SATURDAY Schedule: Breakfast – on your own 9:00am REHEARSALS BEGIN (breaks throughout): Blue Honor Band – BAND HALL (please drop off here!) Gold Honor Band – FULLERTON AUDITORIUM (will perform first!) 11:30am BREAK FOR LUNCH (ON YOUR OWN) 12:30pm CALL TIME at Fullerton Auditorium ALL PARTICIPANTS DRESSED for Performance!
