2017 Annual Fall Meeting & Leadership Conference The Changing Seasons of Leadership ~ To Everything There is a Season 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Amphitheater I-II Dr. Dave Braswell Upslope Solutions - A Research Based Model for Success Aspiring and Early Career Superintendent Academy Special Session for Cohort I Only 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Penthouse We are training the next generation of school district leaders! As you know beginning in January of 2019, state law will require the appointment of all Mississippi school superintendents; in fact, in a little less than 18 months, we could potentially see a significant number of school districts in need of a qualified Superintendent. As the Executive Director of the Mississippi Association of School Administrators, I am excited that we as an organization stand ready to help develop, support and build a cadre of leaders who understand the complexity of school systems and are well prepared to lead. In partnership with AASA, The School Superintendents Association we have launched a dynamic, new and early career superintendent academy designed specifically to address what could become a critical shortage of Superintendents in Mississippi. Our academy, a blended learning experience, comprised of AASA’s national superintendent certification curriculum, delivered through technology from the National Excellence in School Leadership Initiative (NESLI) and led by Michael Lubelfeld and Nick Polyak, current superintendents and co-authors of The Unlearning Leader, Leading for Tomorrow’s Schools Today will ensure participants walk away with the skills necessary to be successful in today’s educational environment. MASA and AASA wish all participants a successful year! We are excited about spending time with you on your career journey and look forward to serving you in the years to come!

The AASA National Superintendent of the Year® program, sponsored by VALIC and AASA, The School Superintendents Association, pays tribute to the talent and vision of the men and women who lead the nation’s

public schools. Any superintendent, chancellor or top leader of a school system in the United States who plans to continue in the profession may be nominated. This program is designed to recognize the outstanding leadership of
