2016 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

Personal Packing List

Scouts will be required to carry all their gear to and from their campsites, so care should be taken not to bring unnecessary gear. There will be an overnight backpacking taken during the week, so gear should be selected with an eye towards being light weight. All Scouts are expected to arrive at camp in the full uniform as required by their home unit. While desirable to have a spare, it is not necessary to buy additional uniforms to attend this training. Cell phones/tablets/laptops are allowed, but charging opportunities will be limited, and the Crossroads of America Council cannot be responsible for loss or damage.

Required: Full uniform as required by home unit Uniform shirt (recommend 2) Uniform shorts or pants (recommend 2) Uniform socks (recommend at least 3 pairs) Belt Scout T-shirts (Up to 5 recommended) Underwear (recommend 5) Shoes/boots suitable for hiking Extra pair of shoes Rain gear (poncho, rain suit, etc.) Sweatshirt/jacket/sweater for cool nights Sleep wear (as desired) Toiletries (soap, shampoo, towels, washcloths, deodorant, comb, toothbrush/toothpaste, etc.) Bug spray/mosquito repellant (extremely important) Required medications, only enough for the week, in original bottles/packaging, placed in zip lock bag labeled with campers name. Backpack Lightweight tent suitable for backpacking (one per youth)tarp Ground cloth/tarp Sleeping bag or blankets Pillow (optional) Personal first aid kit Flashlight & extra batteries Pens/pencils Watch/time piece Plate, bowl, cup, water bottle, knife, fork, spoon

Optional: Sunscreen Camera Folding pocket knife Stationary and stamps (if Scout wants to send home a letter) Religious or prayer books
