The CTK Way…..The CTK Way…..

God of all, send your holy angel to be our companion this summer.

In our work, bring fruitfulness.

In our adventures, bring safety.

In our coming home, bring contentment and peace.

In all that we do, lead us to the joys of heaven, where you live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.

As Christ The King Academy closes its doors on this school year,

we would like to take this opportunity to THANK YOU for giving us the pleasure of teaching your children. We are so very proud of the growth and accomplishments of all the children in our school. We wish you all a relaxing and restful time with your family! May God

bless you throughout the whole summer.

For the teacher, harvest time

Comes at the end of spring.

The seedlings of ten months ago

Are awe inspiring.

Some have grown beyond their reach.

And some have plugged along,

But each has felt the rain, and sun

And heard the master’s song.

Not everyone will be the fruit

That feeds the hungry world.

But each has leaves that wave as flags

Their teacher has unfurled.

St. Mary’s VBS Summer Camp

VOLUNTEER YOUTH NEEDED

We need youth to help lead our VBS summer camp. This year our camp is about training to be a champion of Christ. The theme is sports, but there will be lots of music, art, great snacks, and fantastic leaders as well. The teachings are based on the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes, so it is good for all Christian denominations.

Where: Saint Mary’s Church

When: July 27th to 31st.

Ages: Going into grade 6 and higher. (We have campers ages 4 to 10)

Time 8:oo am to 1 pm.

Meetings- There will be a few meetings to help us prepare. In the month of June, we will meet from 12:15 to 1 pm, every Wednesday, in Mrs. Har-tery’s class. Also, we will meet Sunday, July 26th from 1 to 4 to prepare and decorate the church hall.

Why Volunteer? It is fun, you grow in your faith, become a role model, get experience for a re-sume, and get a reference for job applications. Al-so, for the high school students, you can earn 25 out of school goodwork hours, which count for two mandatory high school credits.

Interested? Please email [email protected], or speak to Mrs. Har-tery at school.

St. Mary's parish is planning a

new parish directory this fall. Everyone

is invited to have their picture taken.

You will be given a directory as well as

one free portrait. More information to

follow regarding a suitable booking

time for your family

from

To JBS for the generous donation of Hamburgers

for our Student Staff BBQ.

Interpipeline for their donation of basketballs,

volleyballs and soccer balls

To Stream-Flo for volunteering their time and talents at our Year

end BBQ!!

CTK Welcomes ….. Hello future parents, students, and colleagues my name is Edward Burla.

I am so enthralled to join the Christ the King Academy family and to move

my life to Brooks, Alberta. I am an Ontario boy, but having family and

making many visits I am ready to become an Alberta man. I have spent my

entire life in Northern Ontario, with the last 15 years in the mining town of

Sudbury. My mother and father are both teachers, so they are passing on a

plethora of knowledge that I have used as a student and will be using as a

humanities teacher. My undergraduate degree was in English Literature at

Laurentian University where I achieved Honours and Cume Laude. I did

my Teacher's College at that same school where my teachables are English

and Math. I am excited to bring my new ideas to the classroom to teach

language in an interactive and engaging manner. I am also a major believer in physical fitness, I play

soccer, hockey, baseball, and love to run. I look forward to any coaching opportunity that is present-

ed to me and will represent Christ the King Academy with pride and class. I cannot wait to move out

to your province and become engulfed by the life of the west; I look forward to meeting as many of

you as possible and to my first year of teaching and learning. God Bless.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM CHRIST THE REDEEMER CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

Regarding Bus Service for the 2015-2016 School Year

**Both the Student Bus Request form and Payor’s PAD Agreement mentioned in this notice can be found under the

Transportation Tab on the division website (redeemer.ab.ca).

Bus service for eligible bus students (students who live over 2.40 km from their designated school)

If your child is an eligible rider and currently takes the bus:

These students will automatically be added to the bus list for the upcoming school year. You can disregard this

notice.

If your child is an eligible rider but currently does not take the bus:

If you would like bus service for the upcoming school year, please complete a Student Bus Request form and e-

mail the completed form to [email protected] by May 31, 2015 to ensure your child has a

seat for the beginning of the next school year.

No bus fee is required for eligible bus students as we receive government funding for these students.

Bus service for ineligible riders (students that live over 1 km but less than 2.4 km from their designated school):

School divisions do not receive funding to transport these students. Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools en-

deavors to bus all students that request bussing if possible, however we do charge a fee to transport ineligible

bus students. Bus fee information can be found on the Student Bus Request form.

We are not able to provide bus service to students who live within 1 km of their designated school.

To register an ineligible rider for bus service for the upcoming school year the following is required:

Complete the Student Bus Request form and return it together with payment by no later than May 31, 2015

to ensure your child has a seat for the beginning of the school year.

Payment must be received PRIOR to your child being allowed to ride the bus.

There are two payment options:

Cash or check totaling payment in full (no partial payments are allowed with this payment option); or

Complete the Payor’s PAD Agreement and return it together with a VOID check to the school (or if payment will

be coming out of a non-checking account a letter from your bank with your account information can be used in

place of a VOID check). Please note this is the only option that allows bus fees to be paid by installments. If

you choose to pay by installments with this method you will still receive early-bird pricing as long as the form is

returned to the school no later than June 28/15. When completing this form please note that the first payment

must be made by no later than the end of September 2015 and the last payment must be made no later than

May 31, 2015. No post-dated cheques will be accepted for installment payments – a PAD agreement must be

used if you are making more than one payment

Other important information

If your child is changing schools and changes from an eligible rider to an ineligible rider they will not be added to the bus list for the new school unless a Student Bus Request form is completed and returned to the school together with payment.

If you are unsure if you owe a bus fee please contact the Transportation Department for clarification. It is parent responsibility to find out if your child is eligible for bussing or considered an ineligible rider.

Principals will give special consideration to families experiencing financial difficulties.

Home-to-school distances are calculated using our logistics software which has been audited by Alberta Education.

Effective for the 2015-2016 school year:

1. Late bus information: Southland Transportation will be posting late bus information online. The in-formation can be accessed by clicking on the Bus Route Status link under the Transportation tab on our website http://www.redeemer.ab.ca/ . There are also phone numbers listed for Southland dispatch in each of our areas if you have any questions regarding late buses.

2. We will no longer be advertising bus route information in local newspapers in August. E-mails will be sent to bus riders in late August. The notices will be sent to the e-mail address that your school has in their student information system. If you need to update your e-mail address with the school please do so be-fore the end of this school year to ensure we are able to provide you with bus information for the upcom-ing school year. Bus drivers will still be expected to call families before the first day of school with bus in-formation as well

Please contact the Transportation Department with any questions you may have regarding bus service.

Thank you from the Transportation Department.
