a) I look a variety of photos of my area including, some of the objects in particular that interested me.

b) I then made some studies of my place, using mediums like pencil and charcoal to help interpret my space in my own way that I found interesting and made it more personal to me. After completing my initial studies of my area I found that there was a contrast in the different ways that I approached interpreting my area. Firstly the first way I decided to study my piece to try and do a measured drawing of the whole of my area, and tried to get everything as accurate as possible in relation to the objects around it. Secondly, I then decided to go over the line drawing and block out the shapes using charcoal to make the shaped and objects more defined compared to my pencil drawing.

Location studies Unit 12 (Fine Art) a. recording of experiences or information to develop intentions What approaches did you use to examine and record your location? Representing the space; details; light etc. How did you decide and which worked the best? Why?

b  use of materials, processes and technology or a combination of materials, processes and technology to develop ideas What did you learn through your initial enquiries? Experiments and techniques, use of an experimental process to generate new ideas, suitability of some rather than others?

Illustrate (photo’s from sketchbook) and fully explain one example for each criteria. Explain how you have covered the criteria.

Location studies SketchUp and MovieMultimedia

b) Developing multimedia ideasby combining the use oftechnology processes.

Illustrate (photo’s from sketchbook) and fully explain one example for each criteria. Explain how you have covered the criteria.

b) I created my multimedia piece from using the range of resources images and videos a had gather throughout the project. I used the SketchUp model I had created using the measurements I had took of my area, as well as my 3D model I created, and the images and videos I took of my space. After I had gathered all the things I wanted and needed I then put it into a premiere pro file, and played around with how I wanted the video to start. I created the video by editing the length I wanted to show an image, applying transition effects to some of the images and videos, cutting and segmenting videos, and then finally by adding some music to compliment the piece. I was pleased with how the final outcome turned out as the range of different media and images all look to the same objects, and are all interpreted differently, which shows the different ways I represented my space.

Making and developmental work - (Large drawing, 3D, print)Unit 12 (Fine Art) a. recording of experiences or information to develop intentions What approaches did you use to examine and record your location? Representing the space; details; light etc. How did you decide and which worked the best? Why?b  use of materials, processes and technology or a combination of materials, processes and technology to develop ideas What did you learn through your initial enquiries? Experiments and techniques, use of an experimental process to generate new ideas, suitability of some rather than others?

Illustrate (photo’s from sketchbook) and fully explain one example for each criteria. Explain how you have covered the criteria.

a) For my 3D model I recorded the measurements by going around the object with a tape measure and recorded the measurements on a sheet. I then used a scale ruler to scale down the objects for the right size to make my 3D model.

b) I then used the workshop materials and items to help represent my space. I initially wanted to make a model to somewhat similar detail as my SketchUp model, however I decided it would take up time to do. I simplified the design by using the main shapes that I could take form the objects rather then do it detailed.

Using historical and contemporary research a) I researched into a variety of different ways

space was represented across a variety of cultures, furthermore the different ways their own cultures interpreted space at the time. From looking into the works I found where some of existing techniques have come from as well as the contrast in different ways a culture represented space compared to others. Furthermore, some of the techniques shown were intriguing to look into and I made a few studies of the work.

b) From the techniques I looked into I gained a better understanding of some pre existing techniques that have come from these periods, and how they work and are used in designs of pieces of that era. Furthermore it helped gain a further understanding of why a piece was made this way, and appreciate the style more, and perhaps incorporate some of the pieces I like into my work.

c)I used the orthographic technique later on to help note down the measurements of the objects, so I could easily read and know what a measurement I needed or what was missing when making my models.

Unit 9Contextual Referencesa      research into historical and contemporary work, showing understanding of the contexts which influenced the work .What have you learned about the influences on other’s work?B recording and presenting information explaining the use of visual language in others’ work. Where have you analysed examples? What did you learn?c    use of contextual references in own work How have you used references? What impact did they have on your ideas?

Developing your personal brief

Unit 13 (Design) a) Resolve the needs of the brief to develop intentionsHow did you develop the final brief? What client / end user is it for? Why?What constraints and requirements did you consider? What research did you undertake into your chosen area of creative enquiry?

b) Develop a range of ideas in response to the brief. How did you develop your ideas for the final outcome? What techniques did you use to generate ideas? What influenced you in doing this?

Illustrate (photo’s from sketchbook) and fully explain one example for each criteria. Explain how you have covered the criteria.

a)My brief was to design a concept storyboard piece for a client based around my place in question area, for this my furnace was the main object of interest so that was the focus piece and the processes of using it, for a short film, or interactive game. From this I looked into the work of other conceptual designers and looked into how they generated design ideas and the processes they used to achieve them. I added limitations to myself to make more realistic so I didn’t over extend outside the requirements I set for myself.

b)I developed my design through the use of quick thumbnail sketches and chose between 3 to continue further into my final piece.

Developing your personal brief

a) After designing my brief and doing a few initial ideas I then selected 3 that I liked to continue on further. I looked further into the approaches and how the furnace actually works, and the uses it could be used for. After doing some studies I then did some further research into the techniques used in to creating a concept.

b)After studying some of the techniques and researching into the processes commonly associated with client work for a concept designer, I mimicked some of the processes into my own work.

Unit 11 Develop & Produce Own Ideas

a) Create and develop ideas in response to the brief. How did you interpret your brief? What different approaches to the same theme did you explore? What decisions did you make to refine your ideas?

b) Plan and produce finaloutcome using specialist working methods and processes. How did you decide on the final outcome? Why was this the best approach? How did you choose the techniques you’ve used? Did they work effectively?

Illustrate (photo’s from sketchbook) and fully explain one example for each criteria. Explain how you have covered the criteria.

Applying Professional; practice in your work a) I looked into their work and studies

stuff that I found interesting as I knew the artist I was already familiar with their style and techniques.

b)For the current project other artists and illustrators I found interest in I tried to put into my work, for the A1 piece and my final outcome.

c) When working in the workshop for my 3D model I had to be careful when using the tools to not cut myself.

d) I refined it through use the processes from not only my professional practitioner I studied but as well from the artist for my own brief that I researched.

Unit 10Professional Practicea      investigate and analyse professional practice Where have you looked at the working methods and approaches of others in this project?b      apply and develop professional practice in own work How did you adopt an approach from researching the above? c       investigate and apply health and safety and legal requirements. What health & safety risks have you avoided? How?d      appropriate standards of professional working approach How did you refine and present your work to a professional standard?

Illustrate (photo’s from sketchbook) and fully explain one example for each criteria. Explain how you have covered the criteria.

Unit 8Personal, Portfolio Development & Progression a)When I presented my work I

tried to design the pages so they complimented the pieces and drawing and still look profession compared to rough pencil written information.

b) I tried to make my information clear by instead of hand writing information I typed it up so it looked more clean and easy to read.

c) I went to a few opens days over the half and looked a bit further into possible courses that I found interesting and decided whether or not I liked a place or not. For example one of the Unis I went to had a amazing looking campus but the art course I felt lacked in as much put into compared to other subjects.

a      personal presentation and communication skills b      portfolio presentation techniques How have you presented your work? Did you make particular use of photography or presentation boards? How have you considered clarity of information in your sketchbooks and boards? c       identifying and pursuing progression goals What evidence do you have of research into progression? Photos of open days, website research? What have you learned so far?

Your opinion and an evaluation of the project

Overall for the project I found that some tasks were more difficult to do and took longer, however I was pleased with the outcomes I had created and finished.I think for the 3D work like previous project I was weaker in as I wasn’t as skilled with model making compared to the more design aspects of the course. After going on to my own personal interpretation I felt more free to do what I wanted but I felt that at some points I was lacking in guidance I found that I’d go back to previous things rather then push forward. After clearing things up and continuing with my project I think some things got clearer, and after looking into other artists my finished piece went well, however my only issue Is that I would add further into my final piece as I wanted to create a finished piece, but not make it look like a exact copy of the area.
