Octatube is een combinatie van een technisch ontwerpbureau en een productiebedrijf en levert bijdrage aan bouwprocessen als gespecialiseerde (onder)aannemer. Projecten worden vaak vanaf ontwerp tot realisatie uitgevoerd.

Het samenbundelen van ontwerpen, engineering, produceren en monteren in het zogenoemde ‘Design & Build’ concept, levert één verantwoordelijke en aanspreekbare partij. Dit werpt zeker bij onderdelen die zeer specialistisch, nieuw of experimenteel zijn, haar vruchten af voor de klant.

Design of the glass facade by Claus & Kaan architecten. 58m long, 11m high.

Goal/Challenge


By constructing the facade in a zigzag shape with corners of 90 degrees, the glass structure obtains strength, stiffness and stability from the zigzag form.

Architect Claus & Kaan designed a zigzag facade, 11 m high.




Detailing of bespoke steel structure to emergency doors; diagonals are representing the stabilising glass panels, which take over the structural action of the glass panels in the door area. Adjacent glass panels are double loaded.



Glass panels as the form stabilising elements. Steel acts mainly for connections. Mock-up in Octatube factory.
