microsoft Word 2010 for everyonethis class is designed to make beginners proficient and non-beginners efficient. the tips, tricks, and shortcuts we cover will make this class worthwhile for most users. learn to create, format, print, save and retrieve documents, change fonts, insert sym-bols and more. Basic technology skills for the non-technicalStart from the very beginning! this hands-on class will start with a basic review of how to talk to your computer using both a mouse and a keyboard, and what a Windows desktop is and how to make it uniquely yours. We will then learn the basics of “copy and paste” to use for emailing and many other programs. Become a voice-over artistthe BasicsWith so many commercials on tv and radio, adver-tisers are always looking for that right “voice logo” for their products or services. What does it take to be a voice-over artist? What do producers, agents, and casting directors look for in a voice actor? We will focus on copy interpretation, mic technique, the audition process, when and how to make a demo, the types of work available, and how the in-dustry has changed with regard to home studios. red cross First aid and cPr training meets the needs of professional and workplace responders, professional rescuers, school staff, and healthcare providers, as well as the general public.

Participants will learn to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.

You will also learn how to perform cPr and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, and how to prevent, recognize, and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in children under 12.

Drawing for people Who think they can’tUncover the drawing talent that lies right below the tips of your fingers! the ability to draw is com-mon to everyone, not just the “gifted.” What en-ables one to draw well is the ability to see well. learn to see the basic abstract elements of shape, then discover how to turn these abstractions into drawings. in the process, we will cover positive and negative space, contour drawing, composition, and design. introduction to Quiltinghave you ever wanted to make a quilt, but thought it would be too difficult? With the proper instruc-tion, you will find that you can master the basics of quilt making. Students will learn the steps of rotary cutting, an accurate 1/4” seam allowance, press-ing, machine piecing blocks, block layout, machine piecing rows, adding borders, types of quilting, binding, and adding a label. learning to draw classical portraits from a live model or a sculpture cast is a centuries-old technique, which always gives long-lasting results. the instructor will demonstrate the three-dimensional way of rendering using three-dimensional models (simple features of plaster cast), and then apply these to the understanding of the anatomy of the head. various examples will be presented from famous masters of the renaissance. introduction to the mandolinthe mandolin is a fun instrument that is used for a wide variety of musical styles. We’ll take absolute beginners through basic chords, scales, and tunes, with an emphasis on bluegrass and irish traditional music. By the end of the course you’ll be able to play rhythm in a few keys, have the basic theoreti-cal background for improvisation, and be able to play a few simple melodies.
