SweaterProjectsCarries WrapSally Mellville created this design at the behest of herdaughter who saw a similar sweater worn by Carrieof Sex in the City fame. It is a cocoon shape withan elliptical hem. This sweater has been atteringon everyone who has tried it on. The t principle isthat the garment is tted in the shoulder area, slightlyshaped in the midriff area, and more generous inthe hip area. Its done in a bulky yarn which makesit a quick knit. The shaping details keep the knittinginteresting. Our rst version is done in Blackthorn by ClassicElite. Other great yarns for this project will be supersoft Kodiak by Berroco. You can build your owntweed by holding together 2 contrasting strands ofCascade 220. Sprout by Classic Elite would alsomake a great cotton version of this wearable design.

MerleMerle is a top down raglan cardigan from NorahGaughans Volume 13. The front opening is trimmedby a band of Norahs signature cables. It is done inBerroco Elements, a lightwight and airy yarn. Dueto the unusual structure of Elements, the color poolsin the recesses of the cables giving a very rich anddramatic look to the panels. It would be equallylovely in Blackstone Tweed.

Zebra Felted ToteSusan Brobst has designed afabulous learn to knit Fair Islepiece. Its a felted tote in ananimal print pattern. The secretto becoming good at this type ofknitting is to practice, practice, practice. The felting process willcamouage the unevenness thatis typical for beginning Fair Isleknitters. There will be no need tocorrect mistakes in following thechart because the zebra stripesare very forgiving. There is alsono reason that your zebra tote

cant be in two bright contrastingcolors of your choice instead of thefamiliar black and white. There will be some homeworkbefore the rst class.
